Do you have quotes? I'm honestly interested to see where guys compliment him. Because all I can remember is the typical, rhetorical stuff. I'm not saying the guy doesn't show up to practice and work hard. But it seems clear to me that he's narcissistic and thinks he is better than everyone else. That's how he convinced himself that his actions in the retirement fiasco were warranted. He thinks that he is privy to some higher truth than other people with all his new age interests, and I think it's clear that, in his world, he comes first and everyone else comes second. I just don't see how people cannot see that. And, again, I'd have no problem with that attitude if he was producing, but he's not. So when he comes out and makes a comment like he did, putting none of the onus on himself even though he threw his quarterback under the bus, I'm prone to say "don't let the door hit you on the way out." I just don't think he brings that much to the table at this point in his career. If he really, sincerely wanted to come back, then the first thing he should do is show some humility and dedication to the team, not say that the ball is in other's court. To me, that's just indicative of the attitude I'm talking about. "Oh, I'd love to be here but it's up to other people to woo me." That's how I take that comment.
JT talking about how he nobody works harder and that he never complains is the one off the top of my head. That's in his 30 for 30.
1. He did include himself 2. He means the team needs to make a contract offer, not that he needs to be wooed.
look guys also act very PC with him, because he is, so to speak, fragile, so they tend to mute what they really think, so as to not upset him.
So, let me get this straight: Ronnie Brown is done, despite the fact that this past season is the only season he averaged below 4.0 yards a carry, and this happened while our O-line and fullback was having a down-year as far run blocking goes. Really? Look, I'm not going to say that Ronnie Brown isn't done, because quite frankly, there's a chance he could be. But to write Ronnie Brown off as done is, at the very least, premature.
That doesn't strike me as any different from the stuff I mentioned in my post. That's not the same thing as saying he is a good teammate. That doesn't in any way contradict my opinion that he's a "me first" guy. And it doesn't rise above the type of BS you would expect teammates to say to the press. I want to see something that suggests that he puts the team first. I want to see something that says he is lifting other teammates up. That he's showing veteran leadership aside from just showing up to practice and working hard. Because, if he's not producing, I really don't care if he's working hard in practice. We already should have plenty of guys on this team that both work hard in practice and produce on the field.
He ourproduced every other RB last year.. You're really only speculating he's a selfish teammate though, no? I know I've heard Sparano and others talk Ricky up for vet leadership. What have you read to the contrary?
As for #1, read again post 49, Killerphins posted the quote. You replied to his post, but deleted that part of it in your response. As for #2, that IMO, is obvious. Before he can return and finish out the rest of his career here, he would need the simple cooperation of the team making a contract offer.
Sweet. He outproduced every other running back on a team that was one of the worst in the league. As I've tried to point out, veteran leadership can mean all sorts of things. In this instance, I think it means he shows up to work, practices hard, and doesn't complain. Hey, that's great. But that's not the same thing as pulling young guys aside and showing them the ropes. That's not the same thing as building young guys up. And when you're not actually producing on the field, who really cares how hard you are practicing? Yes, I'm speculating. But it's not just idle speculation. It's based on his interviews, on his ESPN special, and on his tweets. I honestly think the guy is in love with himself, and I'm just not sure that we can't find a better alternative to him considering how much he has fallen off. And I'm not one of these people who never got over him retiring. I did. I don't have a grudge against the guy. I just don't think his attitude is a great fit for the team considering the productivity on the field that I expect from him in the coming year. We can do better.
I listend to the whole interview, and I saw his tweet. I'm not basing this on a partial quote. I have followed the guy on Twitter since he created his account. This isn't the only time I've seen him act narcissistic.
It's just that..I'm Kenny Powers! and I'm very upset with how I'm acting right now. I just have a very hard time expressing my emotions and I can't stop from yelling. But I'm not gonna stop yelling, because that means I lost the fight. I love you guys, peace...
Either that or Ricky is a waning talent that can't catch out of the backfield and is easily replaceable at this point.
