Though no players can sign until the lockout ends, the Dolphins are eyeing several undrafted ones. Among those they called during the draft to express interest (which was allowed): Ohio State running back Brandon Saine, one of the fastest sprinters in state history, North Carolina tight end Zack Pianalto, North Carolina State receiver Owen Spencer (60 catches, 912 yards in 2010) and Arkansas State safety M.D. Jennings. Saine is an interesting player, they surely scouted him as they scouted Hartline, he is fast, he just never put it all together at OSU but he was a team co captain.
Good call, you can probably include Austin Spitler in that group as well. I know nothing of Saine, but he looks interesting.
Saine was under utilized at OSU imo, Tressel went to a spread offense with Pryor to best suit HIS skills and I think Brandon suffered from that. Saine is also a decent KR so I think he sticks on a team. The Buckeye that you need to remember is Dane Sanzenbacher who also went undrafted. The negative on Dane was his lack of speed but he is quick and guys like Welker, Amendola, and Bess have thrived with quickness and route running. Despite the concerns of speed Dane averaged 17 YPC and had 11 TD's with Pryor at the helm. Dane doesnt make sense for the Dolphins imo, but he sure could fit in with some other teams. KC, SF, ATL imo are 3 teams that could really use a Dane Sanzenbacher.
Sanzenbacher knows how to get open underneath and he's got pretty remarkable quickness, knows how to catch the football too so it wouldn't surprise me if he does pan out somewhere.
