03/08/11 - Not since 2007 has twelve NFL team scouts showed up at the Louis Crews Stadium on Monday for Alabama A&M's annual pro day. Most left impressed with Bulldog defensive tackle Frank Kearse. The 6-4, 315-pound prospect put up impressive numbers in front of representatives from the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Bucs, Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams, Atlanta Falcons and Pittsburg Steelers. Kearse was among five Alabama A&M seniors to display their skills for the NFL on-lookers. Kearse's stats included a 5.2 40-yard dash, 30-inch vertical, 8-7 broad jump, and 22 225-pound bench press reps. The four-year starter measured in with a 7 ¼ hand size, 34 ¼ arm length, and an 85 3/8 wingspan. “Frank has the size and ability to play professional football,” said Mark Gorscak of the Pittsburgh Steelers. “He is explosive and impressive. His game tape and resume has earned him the recognition.” - Alabama A&M football

Admittedly I haven't seen him play but I read that when he played at 325, he had a lot of issues but when he dropped to 295, he said he felt real good and could finish games.

"Frank has the ability to play in the league," said Mark Gorscak, a scout with the Steelers. "It is a shame he wasn't in the (NFL) combine, but that happens. Each year a guy gets left out. I wouldn't be surprised if some defensive line coaches come down and work him out."
Kearse was evaluated in a number of areas, including the bench press, broad jump, vertical jump, 40-yard dash and a number of other drills. He came away pleased for the most part.
"I thought my performance could have been better in some areas, but I thought I was explosive, especially in the broad jump and the vertical," he said. "Regardless of how bad I did, I finished every drill. Hopefully, they saw I was willing to compete.
"I wasn't trying to prove anything. I was just trying to do my best. That's the most important thing. I was just trying to show them what I've got."

"Anytime you've got a guy who's explosive ...," Gorscak said. "His 40-time wasn't great, but it's not bad at all. You've got a 6-foot-4 guy that's 315 pounds and he jumps 30. That's impressive. The 22 reps on the bench press ... He did those things perfect.

"Frank is impressive, but the biggest thing about his resume is his game tape and that's why we're here. This adds to the game tape. This adds to the resume."
Kearse hopes his work Monday was good enough to get his drafted next month.

Cannot be signed as of yet, but hopefully Ireland has figured a way to bring them to Miami and employ them while waiting for the lockout to officially end.

Typically they become "personal fitness trainers".

We ran out of picks spending 3 on Thomas instead of one.

Hopefully he makes it worth it, and hopefully we can get Toddphins a COP back before he explodes. :)

Yep, all 3 UDFA's though, so there is a good chance we land some backup Rb's.

It is sort of madness to think you are going to run the ball, then not to have rb's 3 or 4 deep, 3 on the roster, maybe 4, 1 on the practice squad at least.

I would compare him to Darren Sproles though. If he comes in and has a Sproles air about him, we could be deadly. Imagine him and Gates taking turns on the returns and return reverses.

Well, if coaches are also telling you to remove it, then I guess that makes it unanimous now doesn't it.
