How the hell does that ******** in new england keep stealing all of these draft picks.I am totaly demoralized by this.I feel no matter how well we draft that team is never going to get old and go away.I know ******** is not the best drafter in the world but he is going to hit on some picks just by the sheer numbers.I feel we have to have perfect drafts to keep up and not trade away two picks for a ****ing running back.

We traded up for Thomas b/c NE was most likely taking him after us. They took Ridley, who is also a big back but not rated as high as Thomas.

We should have let them have Thomas. God knows our defense struggles to get turnovers and could use some help in that dept.

The pats were not going to give up 2 draft picks to get him. This guy looks slower than ronnie brown and they gave 2 draft picks for him.
I am sick of this damm bigger is better that parcells brought in.We need some ****ing speed on this team not another plodder.

you're right. It's always smart to enter the season w/o a starting running back on the roster so that you can improve the defensive depth. lol.

We gave a 5th & 7th rounder. That's peanuts to get the starting back you're targeting. Seriously man.

have you even watched the kid play or are you just complaining to play? Do you understand how the running back position works?

Without a doubt Belichick is the best draft manipulator in the history of the game. Trades the 28th pick for a teams 2nd round pick this year and a 1st round pick next year. Totally gets how to ALWAYS set himself up for the next years draft by having multiple picks in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounds. Trades an aging Seymour for two 1st round picks...always looking while not missing out on the present. Love the Dolphins, but truly impressed with the Patriots.

Amazing NO other teams try to emulate what he does in the draft.

man...we're actually doing pretty well for a team that had no 2nd rounder, and yet nothing but hate.

I am not knocking the pick. Miami needed a big back able to carry a load. I just wonder where Ireland is planning on getting the "speed" he said Miami needed from this draft. Could have taken Demarco Murray. Only having one pick in the next two rounds it is not likely to add much speed at all in this draft.

Oh your right, between the entire rest of the draft and FA we clearly couldn't have filled one of the easier to fill spots on a team.

good question Adam. I think most of the quality COP backs are on the board, so keep your chin up. We're still ok.... for now. lol.

The COP back depth is strong, but the multi purpose backs are a little weaker IMO. I think we did it the right way by taking Thomas first.

It's still very conceivable that we land a stud TE in the 4th and a nice COP back like Nic Grigsby in the 6th.

you would think that.... but when you have a billion dollar franchise on the line, you cant take the risk. Seriously, it's the ONLY position on the team we don't have a current starter at. I'm not sure how we can complain about nailing that down before it bites us in the arse. FA isn't guaranteed to net us anyone.

You were all over Lex last night, what happened? We drafted Thomas and now Lex gets thrown under a bus?

No.... still like Lex very much... but we still need 2 solid backs since it's a backfield by committee.

They are not complimentary though, both are more N/S power guys, wouldn't it have made more sense to take Hunter in that spot then? Honest question, not trying to stir things up.

As someone who has studied the Patriots roster this offseason, the whole draft zen-like mantra is not appropriate because he hasn't drafted nearly as well as you'd think. If you can "hit" on 50 % of your draft picks, you're doing pretty good. Ron Brace? Darius Butler? Brandon Tate? Taylor Price? Haven't set the world on fire yet, certainly wouldn't call them hits.. (although I do think Price is going to be a good player for them down the road). The areas I felt they needed to address the most in this draft (getting pressure on the qb from a front seven perspective) they have not addressed that need. Instead you draft a severe project in Nate Solder, he won't even see the field this year. Dowling? Talented but can't stay healthy... I wish we keep Ronnie so he can run over him. Back to back running backs, who most had rated at least a round below where they were taken. Honestly, I think BB is missing Scott Pioli.... BB can acquire as many picks as he wants, but if he's not coming close to hitting on those picks as he should, they are just spinning their wheels. Like a cat with three legs trying to bury a turd on a frozen pond.

These are guys you don't necessarily need fullbacks for..... and since we have one of the better slot receivers in the league, it would make sense to keep Bess on the field as much as possible (or allow Hartline to occasionally play the slot while a deep threat is in the game). To do so, we need backs who allow it. Lex can do just about everything, and so can Thomas..... although Thomas is the guy you want being your #1 b/c he can be split out etc to create mismatches in the passing game. We'll compliment them with some speed later.

Listen if i am not mistaken you are not a gm on any team in america,i do not claim to be a one like you.In my opinion and i am not alone this guy was not worth giving up 2 draft picks when this team is crying for speed. It is a proven fact you can find rbs in the later rounds. We have many needs to fill on this team and cannot afford to be giving up draft picks.
