and because the Raiders secondary was riddled with injury. Nnamdi had a sprained ankle that progressively worsened as the game went on.

I tell ya--- It's such a bad thing to give your QB the tools to succeed.

Heaven forbid if it's not done the most difficult and challenging way possible.:001_rolleyes:

I am not seeing your comparison point here. Your comparing college football and players to the NFL. Henne is now in the NFL which stands for Not For Long if he continues to play like he did last year.

Henne is simply mediocre against talent in the NFL. Talent in the NFL is 100 x's better then college. Put Henne in College and he does reasonably well. In the NFL though against much better talent all around him and his play is neutralized and not as effective. Can he be good....sure. Good enough to lead us to the promise land.....statistically......probably not!!

I think we are wasting our time this year picking a QB if we don't pick Luck and that isn't going to happen. I'd go Running Back or Offensive line with the first pick or try to trade down for a pair of 2's

Yes, but before Henne was drafted by this QB black hole of an organization, he was a highly talented passer waiting to hear his name called in the NFL draft.

That's why IMO we need to go back to his film to compare to these guys whom too many people feel are the answer to our problems while upgrading Henne.

Has Ryan Mallett taken a snap from center to allow anyone to say he's our solution? Can you compare Ponder or Dalton's NFL career to Henne's to judge which one is better? No, we can't. That's why we need to compare them side by side as if they're all coming out of the same draft.

If this organization can turn 4 QBs into a shadow of their former selves (or a shadow of what their potential suggested), then we can't just NOT assume they won't do the same to a guy from this crop of draftees, which is another reason we should be using Henne's Michigan tape rather than what's transpired as a Dolphin.

    Chad Pennington
1st year: 11-5. Came in with little influence from this organization. 97 QB Rating, 19 TDs, 7 INTs, 7.7 avg.
2nd year: 0-3. After 1 full season & offseason with this regime. 76 QB Rating, 1 TD, 2 INTs, 5.6 avg.
*** In Penny's last 4 starts as a Dolphin, he threw 1 INT every 18 attempts. For his career he threw 1 every 38.

    Chad Henne
1st year: 7-6 with a big win over NY and a come from behind win over Brady. (Began his career 7-3 and looked like a star in the making)
2nd year:7-9. has yet to become the stud we hoped for (although the season, team, coaching, injuries, etc did no favors for him, which shouldn't go overlooked)
***Henne averaged 1 INT per 32 attempts his 1st year. His 2nd it increased to 1 every 25.

    Pat White
1st year: 2nd round draft pick that some analysts felt had a legitimate shot at becoming an NFL QB after some time developing.
2nd year: cut by the team and quits football.

    Tyler Thigpen
Before Miami: started 11 games for KC with 18 TDs to 12 INTs and showed some potential.
In Miami: has looked like a practice squad guy.
*** In Miami Thiggy threw 1 INT every 17 attempts compared to 1 every 35 in KC.

The guys in this draft will be facing tougher talent, too, so we cant say (like many are) that these guys look better in college than Henne does here.

Henning and Lee are gone, which is another reason I think it's prudent to go back to Henne's college film because it's a more accurate representation of what he's capable of IMO. A new OC like Daboll & new playbook geared toward Henne's skill set can mean a new start for Chad; hence they can rebuild the guy we drafted rather than the guy we saw last year....... which means going back to his college film when he was succeeding at some of the things we're complaining about now.

His college tape also shows him playing with guys who maximize his talent and allow him to play to his skill set. His college tape shows him successfully throwing to legitimate vertical threats that he doesn't have in Miami...... and that's how we should be viewing him IMO. It's wrong to judge him as a Pennington type QB which is basically what Henning tried to mold him into. So all together, I throw out much of his NFL film outside of the areas where he's shown general QB improvement since his college days.

Completely agree with you here Socks, and this is what makes the most sense to me. I don't see the rush to draft a QB high who might need developing or is a risky pick when there are other ways we could immediately improve our offense.

If we draft well this year and pick up a key player or 2 in FA, then we shouldn't really have any immediate pressing needs next draft, which means we'd be able to go all in for a guy like Luck, would you agree?

If I remember correctly, Walter McFadden played the most snaps of his season that game and we torched him, even with Marlon Moore on a play or two.
