:::SIGH::: Now maybe some of the Henne lovers will begin to see the light. Even Parcells regrets it now.

    What's this "WE" s#!t?!!!!!

STFU, Bildo, and stop trying to be a cancer to this organization.

I swear it sounds like this guy is a bitter or resentful chick who's trying to spread to the rest of your co-workers that you have herpes or a non-functioning willy (which I don't have by the way..... either of them...... I mean I have a willy, just not the non-functioning kind...... for clarification purposes, not visual effect...... just sayin)

What does wanting your current QB to succeed have to do with seeing the light.
I wanted Ryan yet I still want Henne to get another shot with a new system.
It is ridiculous to assume that people who support Henne didn't want Ryan.

It's we because it wasn't just him. To say I would be to completely disrespect Ireland and marginalize him as some sock puppet.

Maybe we should have drafted Brees, maybe we should have drafted Brady.

You can say this every year.

Totally agree. I get tired of all these idiot fans and idiot commentators who are suddenly geniuses once they have the benefit of hindsight. Funny thing is, even w/ hindsight you cant knock the Long pick, the guy is on a beeline for the Hall of Fame, its not like we took Tony Mandarich.

he doesn't need to be saying anything at all because he's no longer with this organization. That's pretty arrogant of him. If he wants to run his mouth he should speak from an analyst stand point and say "Miami" or he should shut his trap completely.

he's forfitted his right to say "we".

Dude, he's talking past tense. At the time, it was We. He isn't saying we in the present tense anymore.

Exactly, but this gives people a "told u so" platform they just can't resist.

I remember like 4-5 people who wanted Ryan on here, now after the fact their is 50

The first couple posts should embarrass the posters. **** Parcells. Do you see how dumb this exercise is? Parcells will get praised for retroactively regretting a quagmire he himself created as long as he bashes the ire of fans.

Dumb topic. I guess people are forgetting the fact that odds would have been against Matt Ryan:

    1. He wouldn't have had a LT.
    2. He would have been playing for Dan Henning.

How can anyone regret taking Long? Even if Ryan becomes a HOFer with multiple rings, you can't complain about the Jake Long selection at all.

Exactly, and I wasn't even a Long fan at that time. You can poll anyone in the NFL today though, and Jake would be rated in the top 2 of his position in the entire league, if he's not a unanimous #1 at the left tackle position. The only guy close is Joe Thomas. With Matt Ryan, he's not even an elite quarterback. He's simply a good quarterback that has piggy backed on a strong running game who has not shown he can win the game with his arm when the running game is taken away. Those that say Matt Ryan is an elite guy are really stretching things.

i think this is what gets me most about this "Long vs. Ryan" argument. There are so many BAD picks in the NFL draft. Every year at least 3 of the top 10 players picked in the draft are useless. The avg might even be higher than that.

We got an All-pro LT, whose never missed a game, has given up less than 5 sacks in 3 years, voted into 3 straight pro bowls, and we're supposed to feel bad about it?

If we had picked the other Long, Chris, then it would be valid. Not the HOFer Long.

exactly. I wasn't in this forum at the time, but I know there was serious debate about Gholston being the pick. We should be counting our blessings. Heck, the Rams took Jason Smith two years ago with the #2 pick..... and are currently paying him $61 million to be their right tackle. Tell me they wouldn't have begged to get Long with that pick instead (and for $5 mill less). I'm sure the Niners wouldn't mind trading #1 pick, Alex Smith, for Jake right about now, too. lol. But only if we get Ginn back in the deal.

I mean i understand not liking Bills statement (thank god he just used us to get more money and we got Thomas Dimitroff) ... Did you not see the ravens game..... Matt Ryan has carried this team during some games... He should get even more leeway this year.. We was around 60/40 pass

Do i think Matt Ryan is elite... No.. Its only maybe 4 or 5 elite QB's ... But i do think he is in that next level of QB's... He took a huge step forward (probowl QB) ....

Heck in 09 when we faced you guys.. Turner only had 65 yards rushing (3 yards per carry) ... Matt Ryan 220 yards 2 TD's.

You dont have to agree with Parcells... But dont put down a good QB to make your point... A franchise QB is hard to find... us falcons fans are happy with him.

Yeah because it would have been so much more fun to watch Ryan run around the field getting sacked left and right because we can't get a quality LT. We can't even find a freaking RG for Pete's sake. I would have loved to watch Ryan have a couple good passes so we could follow up 40 yards worth of gains to run the wildcat at the 35 yard line and end up punting. Sorry but nobody was going to succeed in Miami with our O-Line, lack of running game, and lack of talent at WR, throw in a little terrible offensive playcalling and you have us saying, we should have taken a solid LT and drafted a QB in the 2nd. Hindsight is 20/20 get over it. Looking back I should have picked the right powerball numbers when it was 200some million dollars a couple weeks ago.

Why do people keep thinking the Falcons had 5 all stars just waiting for Ryan to stand behind them while he took 10 seconds to throw the ball all the time? For god's sake, they needed to trade back into the first round to take Baker for the LT spot after going with Ryan. We had a pair of seconds, you don't think we could have done that too? Perhaps if we drafted and sank big money into a rook we would have taken more linemen and offensive weapons, instead of looking at defensive guys like Merling, Langford, Davis, Smith? It's all a big what if game, but to say Ryan would have done worse here because of the line?

This is not to say I am unhappy with Long, guy is a monster. But I don't see the argument he would have been killed here as being realistic.

It was a win win for both teams... You guys got a Franchise LT and we got a Franchise QB... I do feel like QB is the most important position but if my falcons took Jake Long and you guys had Matt Ryan... I would think "dang we missed on that QB" but i wouldn't cry about it because its not like we have a bust... We would have a Franchise LT.... Neither team should cry

1 more thing everyone acting like we have a top notch O-Line.... Trust me... We dont... Matt Ryan makes our O-Line look very good... They dont suck but they are not a allstar O-Line group... Our offense just runs like a well oil machine together.

I dont think Bill was saying.... he wished he didnt draft Jake Long..Dudes a great LT.. I just think he is saying.. maybe he wished he didnt miss on Matt Ryan.

Exactly. IMO, Parcells is the one we shouldn't have brought on board. Really wish he's just go away and STFU already.
