Agreed. I think it was sports 24/7 who said that this year’s players all have extended ceilings because of Randy Shannon’s crap coaching. I agree with that.
The Daniel Thomas pick and Deandre McDaniel picks are real nice. Both should go top 70 IRL. McDaniel at this point last year was being talked about as a potential first. Great value with good upside, even if he does need to improve a few things.
If anyone needs me to post their pick I have no more picks I am actually signing (have 4 comp picks in the 6th and 7th that I dont have room for or care about) and so I have no real vested interest in the draft at this stage. I will be happy to keep them confidential if you or anyone else so desires to keep this thing moving. Your sig is amazing. McCourty would win that hands down. I felt he was better then his brother last year.
Thank you Boik. Im debating on him or Polamalu going in the box in my 3-3-5....obviously if I choose Troy, DeAndre would move to SS in that formation. He really gives my defense alot of options. Very happy he lasted that long because I couldnt make a deal to move up and get him.
Id go DeAndre at SS and Troy in the box because Troy as a blitzer is just havoc waiting to happen. The closer he is to the ball the more likely he can make a play. The idea of him in the box and McDaniel with good hands roaming back is a good thing for your D. I think I like the idea of a regular base 3-4 and using McDaniel as a FS and putting him in coverage more while using Troy Pom in the box. And no I am not criticizing you
Four safeties off the board since i traded up to get Carter at 93. Yeah there was no way of him lasting to 107.
I like the Jarvis Jenkins pick at this point. That could be good value once you teach him how to keep his pad level low. That tends to happen with big guys, a lot.
Last season he was late to the ball often and was caught being undisciplined but he also played with injuries so who knows how he is? If you go off his 09 tape, you have to be pretty happy getting him at that spot. He doesn't play in an easy scheme; Clemson is full blown Quarters Read IIRC.
That's pretty much what I'm going off of with Robert Sands. 2009, he was great. 2010, not so much (which really hurt his draft stock)...but I know the potential is there. He has some flaws in his coverage and he takes bad angles once in a while, but that is all teachable. His athleticism, size, and pursuit is unreal. He also had a nice combine. 4.53, 35.0 vert, and a 10'4" broad.
I haven't seen Sands so no words from me on him. Good pick with Jah Reid. I've seen the guy up close because I attend UCF practices. The guy is a solid player and best of all, he responds well to coaching. In practices and in games, he was the best UCF OL by far though one can argue thats not saying much.
Thanks, does he look as big as he is on the field? He fills a need and seems to have the work ethic to realize his full potential as an OT. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
He's one big mother****er. He stands out, that's for sure. I remember the first time I saw him. Looked like a damn tower. He worked out better than some people expected him to at the Combine, I think. I watched him so I had a pretty good idea of his talent. In practices, he routinely won the 1v1 battles while others struggled. I was a big fan.
LOL, I guess when I think about it I'm suprised he is as mobile as he is. Seems raw and a bit of a project but he will have some time to get there. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
He’s definitely a project. But like Alen says, he responds well. I think Reid is a bit of a luxury pick in the 4th, and you can afford luxury picks with your roster.
FYI, for those who thought I was nuts on the Jake Long/Anthony Castonzo comparison.... NFL Films guru Greg Cosell believes Boston College's Anthony Castonzo is a 10-year starter at left tackle in the NFL. Cosell compares Castonzo to Dolphins LT Jake Long as "not elite athletically but no flaws." If NFL scouts see the same comparison, Castonzo shouldn't get out of the first half of the draft. i'm not sure i get the comparison. jake long is elite. costanzo should be a very good or elite ROT or a good to very good LOT but I dont see him as elite. I dont really see any of the tackles as elite NFL tackles which I consider top 5. Costanzo could crack the top 10 of LOTs in the league but it will be just barely. He could be top 5 ROTs. I do however think he is the best OT prospect this year. I actually have him, Maurkice Pouncey and Julius Jones as my three wishes for our first if we dont trade down. I wouldnt mind sticking Costanzo at ROT and sliding Carey inside to ROG, Jerry to LOG and Incognito to Center still think it was a good pick for you
Incognito to C seems like a sure thing at this point. But if we’re drafting RTs, I’d rather have Carimi.
well what i like about costanzo would be if jake got hurt costanzo could be moved there. not sure with carimi
The comparison I made with Long was this: Both are very technically sound without outstanding measureables. Neither does anything to super-extraordinary apart from other LT's in terms of pure athletic ability but on the field they are textbook. Castonzo is not quite as technically sound or as naturally strong as Long is but hes is closer then you are giving him credit for. He would be an outstanding RT for someone but he probably will crack the top 7 imo at LT. The only complaint about Castonzo I have read are that his pad level gets a bit too high at times and his hips lock occasionally. Those are the only two knocks that I have seen any validity to anyway. Knocks on his kick slide, ability to keep his base under him, and ability to handle speed rushers are largely overblown. His scouting report reads like Long's read on almost every level. Im sure some team be it NE, KC (theyve kicked the tires on the idea of moving Albert to LG) or Indy will try and jump up for him before Detroit can get their mitts on him at 13 in the real draft. Id be astonished if he lasted past there.
I think Long has outstanding measurable in terms of size and strength but I get your point overall. Personally I think this is a pretty crappy draft with the only positions offering true elite prospects being DL, CB, WR and a couple of Guards.
Rather its the right move or not I think Tyron Smith is the 1st T taken. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
True but he has a very small chance of playing LT, Costanzo and Smith can protect the blindside.... Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I'm not sure he has a small chance of playing LT. I think he can do it, albeit not at an elite level. I think he'll end up on the right side ala Anthony Davis though.
we have come to a dead stop. Enjoy the time on the clock. we will be getting back to the schedule in 20
Sadly some people give up at this point, sucks..ruins it for everyone. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
