http://nflbuzz.yardbarker.com/blog/nflbuzz/newton_throws_at_pro_day/4345702 For context: Eh, as per usual, more questions than answers, but there were several NFL FO types in attendance, R Rivera, Holmgren, etc.
Does this really change anything? Only a week after the combine, in a comfortable and scripted setting?
As Chad Reuter said, now we're comparing completion percentages at Pro Days? Get me off this train! The pro day that's really going to matter is Blaine Gabbert's.
Well, in most cases I'd agree, in this case with his own camp intimating that they were not happy with his combine performance of 11 for 21 or whatever it was, then going 50 for 60, comparison with the other highly drafted Qb's in the last couple of yrs does provide some context to his performance. My goodness, here we have a Qb who: -is a lean 260 pds -runs a 4.6 40 -has a powerful arm If a OC cannot find a way to have success with those measurables they are in the wrong line of work.
Casserly, Mayock, Lombardi, and Davis chime in on Newton Mayock reporting from the pro day, somewhat indecisive but draws comparison to Flacco, says Newton needs a lot of work and is raw, but great arm strength can make all the throws Davis - agreed with Mayock Lombardi - ton of upsdie but is raw Casserly - Wouldn't touch him in the first round. Really hard on Newton. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-netwo...76/Grading-Cam-Newton-s-pro-day?module=HP_cp2
I watched Auburns Pro Day on Espn3.com, def saw the arm strength, you could really tell a difference in his accuracy, especially on his deeper stuff, when his footwork was good, planting his front foot. When he didnt his throws were off. This is still something he has to conciously think about while he is throwing...its not natural to him. If he works hard...he can be a good Qb..the question then is do u believe he will put in the work needed to overcome his flaws.... He spent the first 2 hours on the sidelines talking up the other 22 players...and was decked out in all black underarmor...even wearing a UA backpack
