That's funny. Players are treated much worse and fired for much less, plus their contracts are not guaranteed. Are we not openly looking to replace Chad Henne even though he's still on the team? The double standard is interesting.
OK. I see what you did there...now. First, I think Ronnie Brown is better than Kevin Smith. Second, Ronnie has been in our system, with our players his entire career. Finally, either one of them is a #2. That is why I said sign a SOLID NFL vet, Ronnie, Rookie.
how about we keep both Ronnie & Ricky another year? should have Sheets return, which gives us speed (4.39) & excellent hands out of the backfield. then find the best Center & Left/Pulling Guard available in the draft. bet that would be the formula to resolve the running game in 2011 we need to build with quality & patience, don't fix what isn't broken
What running game? The one currently headed by Lex Hilliard and Kory Sheets, because Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams suddenly decided to suck in 2010, and subsequently were not re-signed or tendered before the deadline? That running game? Good riddance to it. Smith is a fine #2 or #3 RB to have.
He wouldn't be the starter, but he's a young, highly drafted back who ran behind a bad OL in Detroit, and he's been a quality receiving back. The appear to be letting all three runningbacks walk, he could make a pretty good #2 or 3rd down back.
Exactly, float him an offer and at least bring him into TC, there is little downside to doing so, if he says "no thanks" then so what? To me, he'd be a solid #2 type of back who could carry the load if your #1 guy goes down, if he can block and handle blitz pickups all the better.
