Appears to be done. The Knicks are getting worse in the short term with the hopes of making a push in the offseason to get great. Bold move. Not sure if I would have traded that many pieces, but I can understand it. Congrats to the Knicks for getting their guy.

Also the Melo deal looks to be:

The Denver Post reports that the Nuggets get Wilson Chandler, Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov, the Knicks' 2014 first-round draft pick, the Warriors' 2012 second-round pick, the Warriors' 2013 second-round pick and $3 million in cash. Anthony will go to New York, along with Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Anthony Carter, and Renaldo Balkman.

We kept Curry's contract to get a C upgrade I presume and to get some depth...Randolph and Fields suposedly staying put

Chris Broussard is tweeting that the Knicks also traded Curry and Randolph to Minny for Corey Brewer as part of that deal...Ewww.

Luckily since Broussard is reporting it theres only like a 5% chance its true. :(

But those are D'antoni boosted stats. Felton for example never had stats this good in his life. You know Melo is a pretty bet to win the scoring title in that offense....

Still I hate Dantoni. Id fire his butt in a second to bring back Jeff Van Gundy

Dude just haunts that franchise, more interesting than Thomas's rumor, is World Wide Whomever resurfacing, after the Three signed in Miami after all the hype he had been given it is odd that here he is in connection with this trade.

WWW is Melo's agents agency...his agent is Leon Rose employed by WWW i believe. Thomas had an impact on the deal but walsh was the one who completed it. Billups option year contract has been picked up for 14M...will be an expiring contract when the Knicks try and get CP3 or Deron or Dwight.

Say it with me....STAT and MELO :)

Sorry to see Gallo go though :(

B14, bro I hate to break it to you, but there will be a lockout in 2012, on Heatfreak started a thread comparing the NBA to the NHL:

    http://www.heatfreak.com/forums/showthread.php?422-NBA-or-NHL-which-has-better-attendance

Nearly half the NBA is in the red, Stern wants a hardcap of 750 million for the entire league, things will be very different when the lockout ends.

Agree with you about Gallo, but this is the NYK's, and Isaiah Thomas was involved.

This is the perfect scenario, we stood tough and kept Fields.

Now? These team is nothing to play with, and now have a shot at playing in the Eastern Conference finals.

And we have a real good shot at Paul or Williams....life is good

The knicks don't SNIFF the ECF this year. Sorry guys. This is a long term deal. A deal that they are hoping to complete with CP3 or Deron. Keeping Fields is good, but who facilitates the ball for Melo and Amar'e right now? Chauncey? Not any real long term answer.

This is a good deal for New York going forward, but in the short term (this season), they aren't competing with the Heat, Celtics, Bulls, Magic and Hawks.

But once the labor strife is settled (whenever that is), the Knicks should be in a prime spot to compete and for awhile too. Howard is gonna leave Orlando, I am almost certian of it, and my bet is he goes west (where out west is still to be determined) and Boston has got to drop off sooner as oppsed to later. So really it is going to be Miami, New York, Chicago and possibly the Hawks.

The lockout really has no impact on anything right now. It hasnt happened yet, its a rumor and probably a reality come July but its not here now. The NBA wont be getting a franchise player tag, I can guarantee that as Stern loves all the attention Melopalooza and Lebron brought...the "superteam" types of the 80's like LAL and Boston are coming back and Stern will support it. Basketball thrives in big market cities, always has always will. Chicago, NY, LA as well as cities rich in tradition like Boston. Things may be different; I expect a rollback in salaries and probably a team or two contracted or moved (New Orleans has already been mentioned as a candidate to move to Vancouver) but I suspect there wont be a hard cap.

Chauncey is actually the key here. The Knicks are already supposedly picking up his option year at like 14M, that contract will eventually be the piece that lands CP3, Howard or Deron. Hes not a great fit for Dantoni's offense as he is more of a halfcourt PG than a true facilitator but he can work the PnR game and im sure he will do that fine with Stat and Melo.

As for the ECF, I think the Knicks shortage of size is ultimately the killer unless someone is acquired between now and thursdays deadline. But thats for this year not necessarily going forward. Pat Riley has always felt that rebounds and getting to the foul line are what wins championships and the Knicks arent in terrible shape there even though their lack of size is problematic right now. Fields and Melo leads their positions in rebounding and both Melo and Amar'e get to the foul line a ton. Knicks should win a round in the playoffs imo and take someone to 6 or 7 in the second round.

    I like the deal.

Held firm on Landry Fields..and chipped in Felton and Mosgov to compensate. JUST GET YOUR MAN.

1st round opponent the Knicks can beat? Just the Bulls. The Bulls are so weak on the wings that they have no chance cutting Melo loose. That thing goes 7.

I thought the Knicks could beat the Bulls before this trade, I don't see why its so unfathomable now?

Now the next round would take a major upset but when you have players who can take over games its not exactly impossible.

Dantoni will watch him shoot and bury him on the bench. I give him til the trade deadline to move him lol.

As for who the knicks can beat.. the bulls and probably the hawks. Again the lack of size kills them vs Orlando and Boston.

First step is getting a coach that actually teaches and cares about defense. Mike D clearly never has seen the defensive side of half court.

Watching the Knicks is like watching the All Star game without most of the stars. I used to love watching the Knicks back in the late '80s to early 90's. The style they play now drives me nuts.

That's why I became a Knick fan, they were a scrapping, tough, defensive team....hell in the late 90's the group of "rebellious slaves" were hardcore.

Now??? This team needs an enforcer.

    Nah.

    Stop them from scoring first.

Fact is that there are really only a handful of teams that actually ATTACK the rim. Heat, Bulls, Lakers. All it will do is serve to piss those teams off and get the refs looking harder at you.

Fire D'Antoni and hire Isiah. I am serious about that BTW. As long as his contract says that he cannot go near a personnel decision.

Or take the hot candidate from the Heat. David Fizdale. He was rumored as a candidate for the Hawks job, Riley would not release him then...for the Knicks job...Riley would have to release him from his contract.
