BSPNews: The overall theme of the day is quality and toughness. I feel we added three quality football players at positions that we needed to add talent to the football team. Certainly there is no wide receiver better in the game today than Larry Fitzgerald. He is the complete package. He's got exceptional size speed ratios at 6foot 3, sub 4.5 40, a tireless worker and exceptional teammate. He turns 28 next season and I believe he is worth the money he is being paid. I am truely excited to see what he can do in our new offense under Chan Gailey. I spoke earlier today with Tom and he's just elated to have Fitz on the team. He even took a break from his lovemaking time with his lovely wife to personally shake my hand. And I frankly don't mind that he didn't wash his hands prior to our meeting. Then you have Cortland Finnegan, who I feel is one of the most underrated corners in the league today. He just turned 27 this passed week. He'll fit with what we do defensively. He has tremendous speed and athleticism for the position. With his vertical, there is no wide receiver too large for him. And with his toughness, if you come into his space, he'll punch you in the balls, it's as simple as that. Love his sub 4.4 makeup speed. I know Bill will be happy to devise his secondary around such a skilled player. Cortland coupled with Devin McCourty, gives us a tremendous corner duo. Acquring the young Jonathan Stewart was a big coup for us. People don't realize he's only 24 years old. Another size speed phenom, he averages 4.7 yards per carry in his career. He's a threat to run over you and then take it to the house on the same play. You don't find backs like this very often in the league and we're thrilled to have him and add his playmaking ability to our offense. Let me just say that one of my goals in coming here was to add some diversity to this football team. When you have a future hall of fame quarterback on your team, people tend to look at him and forget about the rest of the offense. I think it's important to add the right pieces to this offense. To create balance and not have Tom throwing the ball 50 times per game to win. If you go back and look at the Pats' championship seasons, they had balance on offense. Sure, when they needed to spread you out, they could always do that. But if they needed to run the ball, they could always do that too. Think back to Corey Dillon's first days with this franchise, how balanced the offense was... coincidentally, that was the last time this team won a Super Bowl. The goal here is to win championships while we can with Tom at the helm and to prolong his career in fulfilling this objective. This is not a one shot deal. I've brought in veteran players but also at the same time, these players are on the right side of 30 with room to grow with this football team. I wish the best of luck to Wes Welker and his time with the Titans. He just didn't fit with what we wanted to do on offense anymore. Also, best of luck to the young players who were yet to reach their potential with us. Hope they enjoy their careers in Arizona with a team that is looking to build from a fresh start.
Well...atleast you did a good job dramatizing your participation in this league, then you go out and do a seasons worth of trades in 5 days. Your a sly mama jama, and your also out to a huge lead imo.
Fitz is not the best. Andre is. And here he is ***** slapping your new corner. love how Cortland just takes on those offensive linemen... now player is too large for this crazed person.
Fitz had a hall of fame QB, the best WR compliments in the league, and a pretty damn good (and underrated) defense. Andre plays only one position, just like Fitzy, and he does it better than anyone. Andre the giant is hands down THE BEST. Not gonna knock Fitzy, because he is #2. Was a great addition.
funny thing about finnegan. he had 100 tackles this year, but everyone else in the titans secondary had more than him. In other words, homie dont need a chump.
And yet where did the Cards go this year without Kurt Warner or Anquan Boldin? Absolutely nowhere. Fitz must have taken the year off.
Of the top WRs in the game, which have rings? Randy Moss, zilch Fitzy, nada Andre, nope Calvin, zippo T.O., zero Marshall, not a one Ochostinko, cero The only top WRs with rings are Wayne and Jennings. This proves that WR is not the piece that gets your there. Its QB.
Fitz, will be missed, but the team he just left has already probably made themselves the favorites in the NFC West partly because of moving him. Just sayin'
