Didnt We Say The Same thing About Demaryius & Earl Thomas And Sergio Kindle Last Year. We Also Said that We Looked Deeply At Major Wright. I Dont Believe In This Teams Pre-Draft Hype, Wait On Draft Day
You would think the Newton supporters would be capable of understanding this is the Dolphins convenient way of saying we aren't going to sell the farm for this guy. He won't be there at 15 and they know it so you stick to the plan and try and move backwards out of the pick. Good smoke for conversation though.
Well we acquired Marshall, eliminating the need for Demaryius. Baltimore drafted Kindle early, so we opted for Koa Misi. As for Earl Thomas, we were expected to draft a defensive lineman or a free safety (we went with Oderick). As the season unfolded, it became clear that free safety was our weakest position on defense. What I'm getting at is, just because it's "out there" doesn't mean it's a smokescreen. If everything Schefter reported was garbage, he wouldn't have the job he does.
Drafting Vince Young, I mean Cam Newton in the first round will be the first step towards the dismantling of this or any other franchise that takes him.
Wasnt Our Main Goal From Trading Down To the 28th Pick Was To Get Koa Misi In The First Place. I Dont Think Sergio Kindle Was On Our FO's Mind Because if We Really Wanted Him We Woulda Drafted Him at 28 Right?
What hyperbole? It would be no different than when the titans dismantled their franchise when they drafted Cam Newton, I mean Vince Young.
We'd be better off going after Vince than drafting Cam. Less risk, same result. Although I'm not suggesting we go after either one. Is it? Or is it ridiculous that players like Vince Young and Jamarcus Russel are considered top prospects and then amount to absolutely nothing as a pro QB. Personally I don't mind, so long as the Dolphins dont buy into it. Ouch....Pat White flashbacks.
You're right. For whatever reason I thought Kindle was taken in the first round, but my point remains in tact... ...we drafted all the positions that were speculated, except for FS, which turned out to be a problem.
How did they dismantle their franchise? They won plenty of games during Young's tenure. And I hate to break it to you but Cam Newton is in fact a completely different person than Vince Young.
There is no difference between the two. You might get a double digit wunderlich score if you put both of them together. Of course, Cam would need someone to cheat off of to do it though.
If you think Pat White and Cam Newton are the same, I don't know what to say. Yes, the hyperbole is ridiculous.
I'm curious. Who is going to tell Cam which receiver he needs to throw the ball to in the NFL? That's what Gus Malzahn had to do with him at Auburn. Gus Malzahn did more reading of the defense from the sidelines than Cam Newton did on the field at Auburn.
We have an offensive coordinator too, he gets paid six figures to read defenses and call plays, not to mention the quarterback coach, with whom he can collaborate (after getting to know the in's and out's of Cam's athletic capabilities). That's why the quarterback has a headset in his helmet. A majority of quarterbacks don't call their own plays, let alone rookie quarterbacks. The career of a quarterback is an ongoing learning-process. Do you think Peyton Manning could've handled a Dick LeBeau blitz in '99? Clearly, he can surgically dissect NFL defenses today, but it wasn't always so. Cam has a freakishly high ceiling and you can't just ignore it based on remotely similar examples from the past.
Cam's ceiling is limited because of his lack of mental prep for the position of quarterback. The guy doesn't know the difference between a cover 2 and a cover 3 defense. When the heat is on and that first option isn't open, he is going to panic and start breaking out of the pocket whether he is getting pressure or not. He doesn't have the instincts to be a passer, and you can't coach that into a player. Peyton Manning came into the league knowing how to read coverages and go through progressions. He had the mental part down from the very beginning. He was born with it. Cam Newton was born an athlete, and due to the laziness of high school and college coaches, he got put at the quarterback position.
JUST STOP! You are not adding anything . A lot of posters remember ALL your wrong talent evaluations , and you are itching to be exposed ... again.
I didnt say that, nor did I imply it. I was speaking about QBs who run more than pass being overrated. White and Newton are both the same in that regard.
Hurrying up his media day.... Cam Newton that is. Doesn't look good as excluding throwing at the combine. Can't wait to see how he does.....

It's awesome you got to sit down and break down film with him to find that out, any video of it? Those stupid championship winning high school and college coaches it's their fault they didn't change the position of a guy that most likely will be drafted in the 1st round as a Quarterback.
That would be pretty neat, I'll bet you a million dollars that when it's all said and done their scores do add up to greater than 10. It's weird that you bring it up because the last time we drafted a 1st round QB he scored the same as Vince Young on that particular test.
I beg you to PLEASE!! show me where on wikipedia you found that. http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/special_reports&id=7447191 I found this and posted it about a month ago.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/3687374.html Not trying to be rude, but you're calling people out about lying...
Lol..Wow! Well, with all these other teams thinking so much of him we can stop with the talk of drafting him since he won't be there when we draft, thank god.
I know right. I was scared we would miss another exciting season of checkdowns and open WR's getting missed by like 10 yards. Safe for another year! Now, lets go get us another defensive lineman, who's with me!
I think it was wrongly reported that VY scored a 6. NFL people later confirmed that he actually scored a 16. And Marino...I believe his score was 14...not 16. Don't "accidently" skew the facts now to appease your own argument...
Err bro, I'm a Young proponent, but he did score a 6, then took a makeup wonderlic and managed the 16(?) Which is not terrible, however he also may have been spoonfed the answers. I hold no illusions about Vince Young's capacities, they come with the package. The real key to Vince Young, to me is: -19 games in the last 3 seasons -He has always wanted to play, the blowup with Fisher last season was over Fisher pulling him and not allowing him to go back into the game against us, to me the lazy/satisfied player would have been more than happy to sit on the sidelines with torn cartilage in his thumb, Young didn't, he wanted to play. I read that as Fisher did not like Young anyway, so it was as good of an excuse as any to sit him out, Young knew this and got pissed and tossed his upper pads and jersey into the stands, argued with Fisher and left, perhaps he knew when Fisher would not put him back into the game and with his thumb injury he was done in TN? That is a part of the reasons why I have not written him off anyway.
