I didn't want to pick this kid, but he was great value at #57 IMO and after watching this video just now I like the pick. I'm a fan of Beck, but let the best man win!

Not gonna lie, I was very depressed when we picked Henne. I was in a thread with In_Flames, Bran and a few others, we were all pretty bummed about this pick considering Connor was still on the board. Now, this pick is starting to grow on me more and more. I dont really know what to say because I want Beck to succeed really bad as I am a big fan of him and I think he has all the tools to be successful but whatever happens in that QB competition, I am behind it.

EDIT: Did anyone read the comments under that video? One person said "Please don't come to the Ravens because u r gonna be a bust" and one replied with "Chad couldn't carry Troy's jockstrap".

That's a distinct possibility - I was screaming for Connor at 57 so that we could field trades offers for Henne at the top of the 3rd and fill out our LB corps, as well as pick up a WR or DB before all the good ones were gone. I still hope we get Trae Williams at 115 in addition to whoever we pick up in the third :D

IF we don't trade down I hope you're right. I just have a feeling we trade down, should be a few suitors looking for their guy at the opening of day two. I hope we can trade down, get another pick or two, or three . . . can I get greedy here?

i hope we get connor tomorrow something tells me he wont be it i think it will be either a corner or a guard

i think justin king or jeremy zuttah maybe the next pick zuttah has played both guard postitions and also has experience at tackle

I dont know about Henne. Hes a 4 year starter at a big school, thats impressive. Hes a big physical tough kid that can take some hits. Hes got the second best arm in the draft just behind Flaccos cannon. But .... but ... but .... Hes innacurate, hes not mobile, and he gets rattled under pressure. He typically doesnt raise his game in big situations. I dunno, those are some pretty big negatives to me. What do I think? I think the Phins saw lots and lots of Michigan tape while watching Jake Long, and got to liking Henne. Hopefully that turns out to be a good thing. Both guys DO have lots and lots of tape because they played so much, hopefully what BP and Jeff and Tony saw will translate into success.
At least they held off at 32. Merling is gonna be a beast for us, great pick imo. That "sports hernia" was a laughable injury. To think the Jags could have had him instead of blowing most of their picks on Derrick Harvey is amusing.

What do I look for on day 2? At the top of the draft day 2 we sit pretty, and I really think we are moving down. There are LOTS of solid players left who can make an impact, so load up on those picks!
I look for JT to be traded for lower round stuff this year, and some higher round stuff next year.
I look for more "meat and potatoes" guys like Long and Merling over skill guys like WR. I think OL/DL/LB/CB will be addressed.
I look to a great conclusion to this draft!

not much but henne was alright against florida in the capitol one bowl i believe.....and he was senior bowl mvp. And if he doesnt work out, we got beck or mcnown.....i like a competition bring out the best in all the qbs on the roster.

Besides maybe it'll give henne something to prove dropping so low in the draft, he even seemed down in the dumps getting interviewed after the pick.....hopefully it lights a fire and he kicks ***.

I love the Merling pick! I was pumped he slid down to 32.....i wouldve liked to see groves and get flowers or a wr at 32.....but im happy all the same!

Cant wait for training camp!!!!!!:hi5:

cant wait for training camp also to see these people

david lee can work with chad henne i think he can turn henne into a good qb remember the phins will be a run first team so its not like henne will be throwing 50 times a game

i think henne will be the starting qb sometime next year

not comparing them at all....but with us being a run first team....he can be like our big ben....and not have to worry about winning the game for us.....just dont LOSE it.

20 attempts a game.....and pound the rock with ronnie/ricky.....henne can excell imo

oh hell yeah! I agree completley i am a big "give beck time to prove what he can do" supporter. I was just backin the choice of henne at 57.....let them battle and the best man shall be the starter!!! Id rather have 2many qbs then none at all :hi5:

Yeah I agree. Big Ben averaged 12 attempts a game in his rookie year I believe. If Beck or Henne, whoever it may be, can do that for us and not turn the ball over, we should do fine. The Steelers went 15-1 I believe that year with Ben averaging only that small amount of attempts a game.

I think Manningham is a possibility, but I dont think Hart is. If Booker didnt fit our long term plans, I have a hard time believing that Hart would.

As for the Henne pick... Im disappointed in it because now we've used a 2nd round pick two years in a row on a QB. I have faith in Beck still, and want him to do well. However, the more I think about it Henne at 57 is a good deal for us. We now have 3 young QB's on the roster who are going to have to fight and work hard to impress the staff and earn that starting job come week 1. Theres absolutely nothing wrong with that. I like Henne, I think he's going to be good for us if he indeed gets the job. Im happy with the pick i guess..

:wink2: Just a little bit of sarcasm there. We obviously need another back in a later round but agree I don't see Hart as the pick. Regarding Mario, there are big character concerns with him so we shall see if thats enough to scare away Parcells.

AS much as I didn't want to see this happen, Welcome to the Dolphins Chad Henne. Knowing Bill, Chad will be our starting QB, no matter what John does and thats just the way the cookie crumbles.

Chad has some very good qualitys but he is not accurate and he does get rattled. He does not come up big in big games and that is his record. If you take a look at his record he is all over the board as far as his comp % from a high in the 60's to as low as in the 30's and I'm a believer in the "You can't teach accuracy School". That, by the way, was how he was for all 4 years! Maybe, if we are real lucky, he could be the next Brett Farve but I'm not holding my breath.

I promise I won't drag this out, I've had my say, I love the dolphins and truly hope that this works out for us. I do like John Beck though and now really hope, for his sake, that they will trade him so that he will truly get a chance to start somewhere. Cause it won't be here no matter what he does.
