Canes are targeting QB Jacoby Brissett. Jedd Fisch has already met with him. S Byron Moore also looks like he could commit.
Golden and Carroll (I think) spent 12 hours at Brissett's house the other day....Golden wants him BAD.
Imagine if we steal both Byron Moore and Marqise Lee from USC. Also got a surprise visit from USC 5 star DT Jalen Grimble. Brennan Carroll and Jethro Franklin have been putting in work, that's for damn sure. As for Brissett, that's my top choice, but I'd be very happy with Sousa, who seems to be Fisch and Golden's top QB target. Throw in a McDade, Weatherford, or better yet Tom Savage as a 2nd QB, and I'll be VERY happy.
Hopefully Brissett comes on a visit next weekend. There has been talk that he might delay his announcement past signing day. Rumor is his mom wants him to stay close to home and that obviously bodes well for Miami.
Also, OLB Nick Menocal switched his commitment from Miami to Georgia Tech. Not a big loss. He was asked to switch to offense, but wanted to remain at OLB.
GeoffVogt16 Just got a text from a Miami visitor......."could be as many as 6". Just talk? We will have to wait and see I guess. My guess is 4. 44 minutes ago
Moore told CaneSport that he hasn't committed yet and he'll announce later this week. Still expect him to be a Cane though. Also the Menocal stuff is really unfortunate because it was clear the staff didn't really want him so they left him in the dark but luckily he got the offer from GT and wasn't completely screwed over. Kid goes to the high school I went to.
According to WR Patrick Onwausor, Byron Moore told him he wants him and all the other Cali kids to commit to Miami. So, could be those Cali kids committing.
Duron Carter will be a part of this class if he can his credits done to qualify for UM. Fisch met with him and they really like him.
Would be great. Kid has major talent. Not the fastest guy in the world, but has sure hands, great route runner, and is a beast after the catch. Great size at 6'3. Also, it can't hurt having his father around campus, and on our good side. I'm a big fan of bloodlines, so yea, give me Carter any day of the week.
Excellent recruit. Man, imagine the class Golden can bring in when he has more than 6 weeks to recruit.
Now rumors swirling that Moore is going to pick Tennessee. The info on him has been all over the place. Probably wants to get people interested on when he makes his final decision.
Golden just seems to get it! We'll all find out how he is as a coach at this level but I really like how he seems to know what it takes to build a winner. Kehoe is back with all of his rings to show all these kids. One of my favorite coaches ever at UM. He'll have this line feeling like brothers in no time.
To be fair, it’s not like Jeff Stoutland was a bad OL coach. Golden wanted to keep him, and thought his unit was one of the best on the team. I think Stoutland was sort of demoralized by the bowl game and wanted to make a clean break. Still, bringing Kehoe back is a great move.
question for you Hurricane fans..what are your thoughts of Randy Shannon as DC? what kind of D did he run? i know they finished pretty high in rankings rumor is he might be signing with UCLA has DC. kind of excited but would love to hear from you guys
Na, I would not want to bash on Stout. He's a good coach and a clean break/slate for all was needed. These kids, coached by Shannon, seemed to be slightly OK with losing. Now they better beware. Kehoe can get up in some grills if need be. But to me, it's not only being a good coach with him. He is a master motivator....
Vanilla defense 4/3 lots of man coverages but he is pretty damned good as a DC. He needs top talent imo, and he can get them NFL ready...
No way, Forcier isn’t coming to Miami. Doesn’t have the grades. I’m sure he’s considering us—it looks like he’s considering any team that has a QB opening—but I can’t see Golden signing him even if he did meet the academic requirements. Brissett is the #1 option right now. Tom Savage is probably an option too.
We can do better. Golden is putting max effort towards Brissett and Tom Savage appears to be the backup plan. Those are both better options than Forcier. And if both fall through… honestly, I’d go with Stephen Morris.
I just don't see Forcier as a fit. He's more of a spread guy. Maybe if he were to change positions, but I just don't see him in a pro style offense.
Golden attended Brissett's HS B-Ball game last night trying to get a visit....here's a pic Btw, Roy Williams was there as well, but was not looking at Brissett (which was a rumor).
UF makes no sense for Brissett. Wisconsin would be tough to turn down though, considering he would almost be a lock there to start right away. However, would he and his family rather have him in his backyard or all the way north to Wisconsin? That would be deciding reason on choosing Miami IMO.
True, but Wisky will have a true Soph starting next year most likely while Miami still has a Senior and a Sophomore who got significant playing time last year.
Honestly, with a new coaching staff now, I don’t think it matters who’s a freshman and who’s a senior.
Golden and Haith have also told Brissett they would be fine with him playing basketball once football season came to an end. That could work a lot in our favor as well.
