Hello from france everydolfan ! I'am coming back from 2 weeks of work and I am happy to found this forum again ! We have many problem on offensive side, and for me we must continue with young player.....so in my opinion we will draft a RB and a QB. I don't know much college football, but mark ingram seems to be a sure choice without many risk......so why not him with our first and pick ponder in the third (he was a first round projection before the season and seems better than henne for me). with that, we could get 1 or 2 good OL in FA and at TE why not a FA too ? opinion !
LOL @ Ponder. Dude is just another Chad Pennington. This franchise needs more than that at the QB position.
Hey Man Im With You On That, Either Ponder or McElroy in the Later Rounds And There will be a Smile on my face, the only thing that you might wanna reconsider is prolly drafting an O-Linemen in the first round, what a runningback w.o a Line?
More myth than fact. The great ones are usually found in the 1st round. I think singing D Williams via FA would allow Miami to draft bpa, but otherwise Ingrim makes the most sense. RW is not likely to be back after his comments and Ronnie will probably go to the highest bidder. Miami doesn't appear to think re-signing him is at the top of the "to do" list. Given Ronnie's age and injury history we need another quality RB to at least share the load even if he was re-signed. Not a lot of good TEs in FA, although Miller (Oak), Lewis (Jac), and Owens (Hou) would be solid additions. Not sure if Miami will be willing to pay the $$ to sign interior OL help especially given the hefty contracts to Long and Carey...Nicks, Mankins, Dohl, Joseph, Kalil will all want big contracts if they don't resign with current team.
It would be hard to pass on Ingram at #15 because he's an impact player... a blue chip, three down back. How many impact players can we keep passing on? I generally don't like taking RB's in the first round but this guy and top FA O linemen or two and our running game is back in business.
To me Ingram does not seem very explosive. If we are to spend a 1st on a running back then I want explosiveness and big play-making ability.
I will say this about Ponder, much like Penny his intangibles and work ethic is off the charts. Dude is extremely intelligent, and just seems like a guy who will be the first one in the door and the last guy out. My concerns are his injury history, and not having the most ideal arm strength. I mean, it's stronger than Penny's noodle arm. Hell, just about anybody has a stronger arm than Pennington. If you can throw over three yards without the ball fluttering, your arm is better than Penny's
Honestly, as fans we should be fed up with bottom feeding and searching for late or even 2nd round talent in the QB position. It is the MOST important position in the game. RB gets less important every year. Consider me devastated if we take Engram with our first pick. And our team will continue to struggle on in mediocrity if that's the pick and we don't address QB adequately.
Je ne pense que Christian Ponder est une bonne QB. Je prefere Blaine Gabbert, Kirk Cousins, ou Greg McElroy. Je voudrais Mark Ingram mais Les Dolphins ai plus des problemes. Malheureusement, Je ne pense que il sera facil a construire un bonne equipe.
actually, there are at least 4 pretty good TEs available in FA this year ..... all better than Fasano IMHO
Added: If Julio Jones is gone before us (which will probably happen) then the only options for us at #15 are Ingram and one of the top Tackles (Derrick Sherrod, Nate Solder, or Anthony Castanzo). It's too early for TE and the rest is all defense. I really don't want a RT/G that high, but if Ingram is gone, then we almost have no choice since we don't know what FA will bring. Ingram will probably be there though, so I'm guessing he's the pick since he's the only offensive playmaker worthy of that high a pick. I'd much rather trade back, grab Pouncey with the 1st pick to make sure our Interior Oline is addressed, grab one of the talented RBs in the 2nd (Ryan Williams or Jordan Todman), then use the 3rd and 4th on playmaking WRs (Jerrel Jernigan, Austin Pettis, Greg Little) or TE (Lance Kendricks, DJ Williams). I wish we could trade back to recoup our 2nd AND find a way to pick up an extra 3rd.
Ingram at 15 is a big time reach IMO. Sure he can run thru gaping holes and truck overmatched college DBs, but I don't see him as an elite RB on the NFL level so I cant agree with taking him that high. If we cant trade outta there then Id rather go with Pouncey, one of the top corners or a pass rusher. Ideally, we can trade down & pick up a 2nd, take Pouncey-RWilliams-Devine-Jernigan). Then sign a vet RB for insurance, Marcedes Lewis and Jacoby Jones, we'd have a pretty formidable group IMO. Thats a lot of dough I know, but Ronnie and Ricky are coming off the books, that's about 7-8 million. We can cut Will Allen (7 million), Chad Pennington 4-5 million and Corey Procter (2 million), that's a total of over 20 million to spend elsewhere.

If Ingram is still there at #15, which I expect he will be, I quite like the idea of trading back and picking him up later. The QB position I don't think we should look to address this off-season. It's not that I believe Henne will come good (although under a new OC who knows?), it's more that I don't see any truly better options out there right now. If we're giving up on our "franchise" QB, at least replace him with someone whom we won't be giving up on in the next off season or two.
Look, nothing against Ingram, because he's nice and all, but I think we should focus more on getting a QB in the first round.
Gotta agree here JS... The thing is, Brown, Williams and Cobbs are all FAs...it's likely that 2 of the 3 are gone. Williams is, as you said, most likely gone for sure. Brown may not be sought after except to teams who already have a go-to guy, but his WC ability might get him a bit more. I don't see that Ireland is 'not looking to re-sign' him, but moreso he's waiting on the CBA issue to be resolved...this could be a frustrating year for football fans if they don't settle this thing. But I like Ingram in the first...of course things will change 100 times before the draft and FA [or lack of FA] will impact the draft this year unlike other years...

Ingram has no second gear. Do we really want to draft another back in the first round with this knock? Ponder would be a huge project that would fail.
But at least he allows you to consistently pick up solid yardage on 1st down which we are sorely missing (and was one of the biggest problems with our offense this year IMO). We're a 2 back offense, so we can still pair him with an explosive COP back and get the best of both worlds. I'd still rather trade back or pick up Ahmad Bradshaw in FA. Bradshaw-Delone Carter would be a nice 1-2 punch IMO. If we're gonna spread things out, I might even think about DeMarco Murray as a #2 back b/c he can catch and is good in space.
Off topic...... and it won't happen, but I'd love to grab Nnamdi and trade SS for a 2nd rounder...... and use that 2nd on DeAndre McDaniel to groom behind Bell. That would allow us to upgrade Corner AND solve our Safety problem w/o having to use up a current pick.
$20 mill elsewhere is nice. If we could get a 3rd for Carey, I'd add him to that mix, too. Jernigan probably wont be there in the 3rd. IMO he's the one of, if not the, best spread WR in the draft. Jacoby would be great if we're going to more 3+ WR spreads..... and with all the TEs this FA, I'd also prefer to pick up one who is game ready rather than waiting for a rookie to develop. If this were my team, I'd trade Odrick to the Saints for the FA rights to Carl Nicks instead of giving up a draft pick for him (if we couldn't sign Mankins). They need a DT and we need a LG. ?????
It's not a bad idea but I don't think they'd trade Bell yet....... or at least not w/o already having his replacement. He's still an important part of our defense IMO, and his leadership amongst our youth is valuable. We'd be better in the long run in your scenario, but IMO I don't see them wanting to potentially take a step backwards next year to develop a young Safety with their jobs on the line etc after a 7-9 season. Now if we traded our 1st back and a guy like Sands or McDaniel represented the BPA at our pick, then they could be hard to pass on regardless of our offensive needs.
