Square-Enix had a press event a little while ago. They’ve made some not entirely unexpected announcements. Here we go: FF13-2: Next, FF13 Agito is renamed Type-0: The next Kingdom Hearts game is Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. 3D! And finally, Final Fantasy Versus XIII still exists only in trailers: Pretty underwhelming, IMO.
Well, as long as it's identical to the last installment, that's all I care about. Also, graphics is the good.
Sounds to me like they want another crack at the IP and sort of redeem its image. I thought it was a good game, but the faults were pretty glaring. It felt like a game that had no real direction and was slapped together at times… because that’s exactly what it was.
I would hope they make FFXIII-2 less linear, and it doesnt seem like Versus is going to come out in my lifetime.
I’d definitely imagine FF13-2 will be closer to the series norm. Actually, if it’s like X-2, where you can basically go wherever you want in whatever order you want, that would be best. Something like FF13 chapter 11 wouldn’t be bad at all. And Versus has been basically put on hold twice, apparently.
I am starting to be convinced that Versus 13 is never going to come out. Ever. Ironically, that game was what put me over the fence over getting a PS3 a few years ago.
Bump. First in-game FF13-2 screenshots are available. Guess who’s playable? And based on these very, very early screenshots, it seems like FF13 looked better. That may have been a byproduct of having such a long development that the art team and programmers could basically work everything to perfection.
BUMP. Anyone play the FF13-2 demo? I'm pretty disappointed. 13 was at least decent, the utterly inane and barely-there story aside. 13-2 is just… random stupidity thrown at you in a flurry of terminology and quick time events. It feels like the developers were trying to fix the complaints about 13, but either didn't really have a handle on the complaints, or weren't sure how to proceed. The result feels like they just threw random crap against the wall after they played a few sessions of Mass Effect. I'm pretty disappointed. Final Fantasy deserves better.
Haven't played the demo as I rarely do demos. I've had the LE reserved for a few months though, and the LE is the only reason I'm getting it at release (want the soundtrack). I'm sure my wife will play the game right away and enjoy it. I'll reserve judgement until I actually play the game for a few hours.
Prepare to not know what the hell is going on. It was a pretty jarring experience. As for the soundtrack, there are other ways to get that.
Picturing Stitches riding around in his car with the windows down BLASTING a final fantasy soundtrack. Since I don't know what Stitches looks like I picture Jim from the office doing this.
