John Elways' first move as VP of of the Broncos Inc. was to hire fmr Panthers HC John Fox. Which makes sense to me, Fox's time in Carolina had just run down, Ownership was to cheap to fire him in 09, He was a consistent winner in the extremely competitive NFC South, but Ownership let his Starting Qb walk and Julius Peppers walk. Interestingly enough, Fox made his bones in 2011-05, and his OC was..Dan Henning. Right move, or wrong move? We play them in 2011.
Tend to agree, their draft slot, #2, means they can land Bowers or Fairley, with Fox running the 4-3 either one would be plug and play and would be nice pieces for the new D. It also means DJ Williams is certainly on the trade block as he really doesn't fit the 4-3 imho.
As I said in Sick's thread mentioning this I was hoping Fox would land here if Sparano was fired, though not sure what would have happened with our defense and Nolan. Some Panther fans around here would think of me crazy but like you I think he was a good coach and his time there just ran out, stuck with Jake too long as well. I could envision him coming to Miami and winning the Super Bowl after being close with Carolina, similar to Jon Gruden and what he did with the Raiders and then Buccaneers. Since 2002 Fox won the NFC South twice, won the NFC once, went to playoffs three times, and came maybe an out of bounds kick away from winning a Super Bowl. His only real stinker of a season being this past one. Different division and conference but we've won the division once and have zero playoff wins in the same time frame. I think Tebow can develop into a decent starter as well so if I was a Denver fan I'd be happy about the future.
