As to how he handles pressure, totally agree. That is my biggest question mark. As for his accuracy? I think in College you can get away with not having great accuracy. I think if he settles in to a good rhythm I think that will be fine. I just don't know how he handles pressure, because I will bet EVERY team we play next season will be bringing the house until he proves he can beat it.

Agreed. That's why I think JB could be passable with a better system.

He can get along with his accuracy however he still handles the blitz very poorly. We also do't have a lot of great WR's to help him out. I am by no means sayng I want Jordan Reed or Burton to start. I obviously want the best guy and I don't know who that is right now. Will be interesting to see how all those QB's do in the spring. Also very interested to see Tyler Murphy as well.

Great Call my 2 cents. I watched that game and thought Miami of Ohio was much better than ppl gave them credit for.

I am not sure this had much to do with him. His injury had much more to do with it than anything else. Been hearing that he did not think that he would heal from his torn labrumas fast as he would have liked. I personally think its a mistake for him to come back even tho there is a good chance for him to improve his draft stock next year

    Skeet,

You are much more in tune with recruiting than I, what is the feeling on the recruits/targets that have not yet committed?

It takes a longtime to gain relationships with recruits and gain a bond with them. Its hard for anyone to do that in a couple of months. Even worse is a lot of these guys didnt even know who would be there position coaches until early this month. Defenseive players can only talk to Quinn (DC) by phone until they exit the playoffs. There are a few high profile guys that the Gators still may get and most are on defense because they already know Muschamp.

Chikillo is a Miami Hurricane legacy and would be a huge get. It really hurt him when Shannon was fired and he a great visit when he cam to Florida over the weekend.

If anyone has any questions on recruiting I will do my best

Signing day is here. My expectations are low. Just hope we don't lose anyone. Stealing one or two big ones would be nice too...

18 sounds like that is going to be the number. All things considered, I'll take it and hope for more next year. ;)

All things considered the Gators were able to retain all of the commits they had before Meyer resigned .

On the plus side they recruited the top rated QB,the top rated FB ,the second rated DB ,a top ten RB ,Good receivers and TEs.

Not bad for only 18 signings .Thankfully there were no filler signings to take up roster spots. The players that were signed were players that Muschamp wanted and fit in his scheme.

The main weakness of this class are lack of linemen on both sides of the ball but the Gators previous drafts more than make up for that.

As Muschamp said next year the regime will have more time to develop relationships with prospects and next year there will be more possibilities to recruit linemen.

If there is one thing we learned last year it was that you cannot just depend on one QB .Everyone including myself thought that we had the QB position secured with John Brantley .

When it didnt turn out that way we had to dig down deep into the roster to find another QB.

Driskel has all of the star ratings and accolades but its just on paper until he proves he has the right makeup on the field. .

If he struggles the Gators now have Brissett as quality competition .

Let the best man win.IMO Brissett could have a Newtonish type of impact.

BTW my hats go off to the Gator staff for pulling this off.I thought he would be a shoe-in for the Canes.

Brisset really liked what Charlie Weis had to say. Also this guy is not chop liver he was one of the best QB recruits out there. Rivals had him as the 3rd best QB. I think that him and driskel are going to be in a huge battle for the job. Driskel has the upperhand this year with spring ball as well. Also Brisset is going to play basketball at UF. So that may also be a reason he wanted to come to UF over Miami

Going to a pro style offense will attract those big RBs that have eluded us for so long .Hopefully it will also attract bigger wide receivers too .

Obviously we need speed players to mix in as well .You cant sacrifice speed in favor of size as the Dolphins have discovered this year.

Ok, so I have not been around much... But want to talk a little about our friend Brantley.

I thought he looked like the same ol Brantley in the Orange and Blue game. Here is my question, if it looks like he is not going to progress into a solid QB that can lead us to the SEC champ... When do you pull the plug and play one of the Freshman? Typically most of my friends are saying 4 or 5 games. The problem with that, is then you are throwing one of the Freshmen to the wolves with his first start against LSU, Bama, or in that stretch...

I personally think, if Brantley can not light up FAU and look like a NFL QB against a team with (lets face it) a LOT less talent then I think it is time to cut our losses. I know that is a bit early. However, I argue that with all Spring, all Fall and what we saw last year he may just be unfixable. Better to cut our losses early and start to develop a young guy so he has a chance to do well against our tough SEC opponents.

    Thoughts?

Honestly, he should be leaps and bounds ahead of the any of the freshmen. If he doesn't prominently establish himself in the fall above all others, I say put him on the pine. I don't care how upset the Marion County, Gator Mafia gets!.

I don't believe Will cares either.

I think it depends on whether we are winning or losing .The front end of the schedule is usually softer so its possible we go unbeaten during that period of time and there will be no urgency to pull him.

Omce we get back to back losses that leaves us out of the championship run we may see a change .

Its Brantley job to lose .

I HOPE NOT! I don't think there is any chance we lose early on. Those teams are not good. IMO, if Brantley struggles against FAU he should be benched. Give one of the freshmen a chance to learn against another team we have a lot more talent then.

IF after a whole fall of playing against our defense does not get Brantley ready to TEAR up teams (especially one as undermanned as FAU)... Nothing will.
