Raiders offensive coordinator Hue Jackson is interviewing for the 49ers' head coach position today, a league source said this morning (and first reported by Matt Maoicco, the best I can tell from Twitter's timeline). They had to interview a minority coach to satisfy the Rooney rule. By tomorrow they will announce Harbaugh as their coach
@Adam_Schefter RT @Aaron_barnett: What team u think Harbaugh will end up coaching? ... Not Miami, not Oakland, not Carolina, not Denver. Like SF today. about an hour ago http://twitter.com/#!/Adam_Schefter
schefter is tweeting that 49ers and harbaugh will meet today at undisclosed location. the fat lady is warming up
I think that harbaugh is going to the 49ers too, But wouldnt it chap the asses of the raiders if they did hire Hue, considering Cable was let go in order to give Hue the job.
They are....nmandi has his own show out here and he said in the least amount of words possible, how dissapointed he and the rest of the team are.
Please thank the Raiders for giving NE their first rounder this year, that team really needs more young talent...sheeesh.
i can imagine the interview owner: so Hue, thanks for coming to the interview. let's get right to it Hue: Sounds good to me owner: So what's your favorite color? Hue: uh....blue? owner: oh i'm sorry, the answer we were looking for is red. thanks for stopping by. the secretary will show you the way out
Funny thing about the Rooney Rule is Leslie Frazier still couldn't be named official HC of the Vikings until the season was over. Even then, they should have another rule that requires everyone to interview a Latino. Ron Rivera pack your bags!
Actually, he's got a better chance than you might think. I wouldn't work for Undead Al if I were an assistant...Unless he wanted to pay me a couple mil and make me an HC. ...... Which I think he is. Remember who Tom Cable was when Al hired him.
Al Davis DOES NOT pay head coaches well. He purposely hires no name type coaches so that he can maintain control over everything. Or at least feel like he can.
Regardless....He'll make more than he will as an assistant. Sure. We all know what's up. He hires the lowball candidate because...He's lowball...But, you know what? If today, in my job, if someone asked me...."Hey, would you like a shot at being the boss?" I'd go... "Hell yes." If you wouldn't, I don't know what to say to you.
