Then explain to me, how NYJ plans on A) beating Indi on the road and B) IF they win how they match up against a rested and motivated Patriots team

I am sure this can be explained w/o banishment risk.

I think it's maybe safe to agree that neither Henne nor Sanchez are great QBs at this stage. Unfortunately for us, Sanchez still has a starting job in the NFL. Henne likely does not. Sanchez is also playing bonus football right now, and when a QB gets his team to the playoffs, I don't care how it happened, he must have done some things right.

I hate defending the Jets and their team. But at some point we need to stop making excuses and realize that it's not just luck. Right now the Jets are a better team than Miami. Plus every time I say nice things about the Jets, bad stuff happens to them. So here's hoping Indie throttles them this weekend!

LOL ~ they have their hands full with Pitt, Balt and the Jets. And Indi.

    Sucks that we aren't relevant.

It depends on how you look at it with regard to Sanchez's improvement. Obviously, as a Jets fan, I'm going to look at the improvement in areas such as TD-INT ratio and the clutch play at the end of games. The fact that he did not regress his sophomore year in the league is improvement alone. I don't like using it as an excuse, but Brian Schottenheimer finally got his head out of his *** later in the year (ie. Pit, Chicago games) and started tailoring the offensive gameplan to Sanchez's strengths. He mixed it up on first down instead of always running it (Jets had highest 1st down run% in the league), and started calling for more quick, easy passes, instead of bombs and low percentage passes for the whole game. He needs to improve his completion percentage though, big time. And that is one of the more important QB statistics.

Keep the ball away from Peyton by pounding Shonn Greene and having Sanchez put the ball in the hands of his playmakers. Quick passes to Edwards and Holmes. The Indy secondary is trash. Quick passes render Freeney and Mathis almost useless. And with the way Ferguson is playing this year, Freeney won't do much of anything anyway. New England, that's another story. I don't think anyone is beating them.

I love when we bash other teams QB's, but the fact is one has his team in the playoffs and the other does not.

And I think everyone of us would rather be in the playoffs.

Yeah anyone that mentions McDaniels coming here, well that is ludicrous. McDaniels shipped Marshall to Miami for draft picks, then he is going to come here and coach him even more closely than at Denver ? As Keyshawn Johnson says, "C'mon man !"

Irony?? Dont judge a book by its cover.

Mark Sanchez looks like a soft feminane "weak" man, Chad Henne looks like a beer drinking no nonsense tough guy....yet Sanchez has 5x more balls than Henne.

    VERY SAD.

They beat the Pats once, we didn't come close.

I hate the Jets as much if not more than most of you, hell I live amongst them and deal with it everyday. but this is just silly.

Every Fin fan would rather be where the Jets are right now, a chance in the playoffs.

The Colts are in a very down year and are beat up, I think the Colts will win, but I would not count out the Jets!

I can't believe you guys have me sticking up for the Jets, I think I'm going to puke now!

Hold on they beat a Patriots team that also lost to Cleveland, you have to admit this is a different Patriots team now. We beat the Jets too. Yes, the Jets are better but their fans talk so much for a team that has won absolutely nothing. The Patriots fans are a lot well more humble and they have every right to crank it up here.

Not sure how this turned into anti Jests/Sanchez thread? The OP made some very good (and totally unbiased) comments re; our team. In fact, he pointed the biggest finger of blame at our OC (not surprisingly so I might add). Frankly, and as an avid Phins fan, I'm a little embarrassed by those that simply want to turn this into an attack on the Jests and/or Sanchez. And honestly...that's giving the Jests and Sanchez way too much credit as far as I'm concerned.

Back to the topic as posted by the OP, I just want to say thank you for taking the time to share such an unbiased assessment with us. It's not only refreshing, but I think you really nailed it. I tip my cap to you sir. Having said that, and with all due respect to you...I hope your team loses it's first playoff game...badly. No offense. :wink2:

Obviously the Jets have a good team. I'm not disputing that...I don't see others disputing that. What I am disputing is the idea that Sanchez has carried the Jets. If anything, it's the other way around, ESPECIALLY last year. Not to mention, they played teams who were sitting their starters.

Like I said, put Henne on the Jets, and Sanchez on the Dolphins, and this argument still is going on, just in reverse. Jets fans would be talking about how great Henne is, and Dolphins fans would be saying "Henne isn't really any better than Sanchez." It's really that simple. Sanchez is on a good team, and Henne is on a crappy team, at least offensively. Now, if we have a better offense next year, and Henne is still around, and puts up numbers like this year, then the Jets fans can all come here and tell us how much better Sanchez is.

I'll give you the fade to Holmes...it was sweet. The first one? Color me unimpressed. It was a complete debacle with the coverage. If a QB can't make that throw, he should be out of the league.

And yeah, I probably couldn't make the throw...that was what was called "hyperbole." You know, exaggerating to make a point?

I think the Jets have a decent chance to beat Indy....they have good corners and a veteran defense.

On offense they have the Holmes who will be catching his share of slants, and he can get upfield fast.

    Should be an awesome game.

Well that is what Pennington said yesterday in the Dolphins lockerroom, and he is a former Jet.

That really frosted my butt too. Pennington acting as if we DolFans should be happy we were playing for a chance to get into the playoffs. Screw that, I want to be IN the playoffs and win ! Sorry Chad, I love ya, but that was BS there.

Our 2008 team wasn't as good as this Jets squad, we knew advancing far was unlikely but it sure was awesome.

To degrade the Jets for making the playoffs is BS....you and I would be wetting our pants if we played this weekend.

Well, you would be mistaken. A Jets fan said that we don't need to get rid of Henne, just make him a backup. A Miami fan said that you could say the same about Sanchez. Then a Jets fan said that Sanchez had taken the Jets to the playoffs the past two years. That was when the Sanchez "bashing" started.

They did, and as steep as the odds are that they win a championship, their chances are still better than your team's, which are precisely ZERO.

I understand your frustration, but you are really coming off like a big pile of sour grapes.

Thank you. I get why some are butt hurt, but a lot of this is uncalled for.

If I came into this thread and stated, "The difference between Henne and Sanchez is minimal. The deciding factor is that Sanchez plays on a good team and Henne plays on a lousy one." I'm sure I would have been received positively  Yet you can go back and find a dozen threads stating that Miami has just as much talent. But when it doesn' fit the QB argument, suddenly the Jets have a roster of All Pros and Henne is surrounded by a high school team.

I see nothing wrong with keeping Henne as a back up either. Sanchez had a better year than Henne, there is no debating it, they are in the playoffs, we are not.

How is it bashing to say that I think Sanchez isn't any better than Henne? For 2010, even with Henne throwing more picks than tds, his rating is STILL slightly better than Sanchez'. If a Jets fan is going to say that Henne should be a backup, he should be prepared to have some comments about Sanchez headed his way. I'm not in here saying that the Jets suck, or that Henne is awesome. I'm simply saying that SANCHEZ is nothing special. If Henne were on the Jets, and Sanchez on the Dolphins, Jets fans are on here talking up Henne, and we are on here talking about how Henne is really no better than Sanchez.

You are correct of course, however, as we discussed before some Jets fans talk a lot of bravado for making the playoffs but lets be honest as early as Hard Knocks it was SB or BUST, has that changed?

And some Miami fans thought you guys were division champ material as well. Every team has fans that think their team is better than it is. I have been very realistic about the Jets from the moment I showed up here. I predicted a 10-6 record. I pointed out the numerous holes on the team, specifically on defense.

I never watched Hard Knocks, but I have no problem with Ryan setting the goal at a championship. He believes in his team. Hard Knocks put it out there for all to see. His team loves him and plays hard for him. I can't complain about that.

I still think the Jets need to be able to pressure the QB without blitzing for them to be able to contend for a championship. Until they can do that, they are extremely vulnerable.

My goal for this year was to see Sanchez improve and regardless of his QBR, he has. Anyone who watched him play both seasons can see that. I also wanted them to make the playoffs. Again, mission accomplished. Next year I want to see Sanchez take it to the next level and the Jets play on the SB. Those are my goals for the team.

Reasonable, but as I said in a different thread as long as BB and TB are in NE, we are all playing for 2nd. That Patriots team is loaded, young and has seven picks of the first 100 in the 2011 draft. Including three of the first 33. Thats pretty discouraging.

I don't really think Sanchez progressed at all. Football Outsiders has Sanchez with 13 dropped interceptions on the year. While dropped ints don't really matter, it does indicate that Sanchez wasn't really making good decisions with the ball this year. If he'd had half of those balls caught by defenders, Sanchez would once again have thrown more picks than tds.

His QB rating did improve to 75.3 from 63. He did throw more TDs than INTs, he was better but better than a very low starting level. His Comp % is still poor, especially with all his weapons. But technically he did improve.
