I think this deserves its own thread because not only did he answer my question on twitter, he had a very lengthy response.

he also tweeted this....obviously pertaining to Tony

    http://twitter.com/#!/willallen_25

So obviously, the defensive guys, and the players in general like Tony, Will Allen agrees he needs to be held accountable as well, interesting response. And very detailed, whats your interpretation of the above?

He's right. I think it's pretty obvious the players love Sparano. Like I've been saying all day, Sparano should get a chance to turn the offense around. Worked for the defense last season.

Players don't pick the Head Coach. Nor ANY of the coaches.

And thank God for small favors.

By the way, the way that is worded it can mean whatever you want it to mean.

Whether the players love Sparano or not doesn't really matter. What matters is what he coaches them to do and whether they play for him. This last year cast a lot of doubt over the wisdom of his philosophy of football and the way they fizzled at times -- especially against New England -- didn't show the requisite amount of effort.

Players almost always support their coaches. The Brad Childress type situations -- the outright mutinies -- are few and far between. But lots of guys get fired and deserve to. Paul P was talked of highly by the guys on defense right before he was canned. I remember listening to an interview where Ricky heard about the Paul P firing during the interview. He sounded completely shocked, and went on to defend the defense and Paul P by saying they had looked like the best defense in football that year at times.

Needless to say, it was the right decision. So is letting go of Sparano.

this is great and all but I'll tell you this.
Whether players like coaches or not means nothing about whether they are a good coach.
    Players loved Wanny too.

The best coaches I ever had playing football I hated until I didn't play under them anymore.
    That's a fact.
My senior year of High School they brought in a real ball buster OL coach for us.
He was awful but we were so prepared and beaten in practices that nothing which happened in a game ever fazed us.

    College same thing.
First year they had a "players coach" for our OL and everyone loved him.
    The unit sucked though.
Second year they brought in an ex Marine and everyone hated him.
The unit turned itself around immediately however.

Not to mention the distinct possibility that Allen is simply being PC.

So whether Tony stays or not certainly shouldn't be determined by whether the players like Tony as a person and I certainly do not hope that plays a factor.
If Ross gets together with Ireland and his buddy Peterson and comes to the determination that Tony's leadership wasn't the issue then fine.

So he feels Sparano just needs an interior decorator to turn things around?

it doesn't sound like a generic canned response, looks like he put some effort into writing his thoughts out. Its hella cool he responded, especially with all the speculation going around.

Being placed on IR for two years in a row, including this year where there was good speculation that he could make it back during the season.

    Ah yes.
    Good point.

Maybe the speculation was wrong and Allen was ok with the situation. I don't know.
Certainly didn't sound like he holds any animoscity towards him.
