Well, for a change, I want the Dolphins Organization to handle things smartly, If Sparano stays, then the Staff must be shaken up, if Nolan is bumped up, then make sure he has what he thinks he needs to succeed on Offense and Special Teams, if we go all new, do not take 3 months finding "your guys".

Yep agreed 1000% Padre...if your gonna make a change....get off the pot and do it.

Have no problem with Sparano if changes are on the way and a change in mindset appears. I want a Harbaugh type mindset....a "we are gonna win with Character, and we are gonna win with Cruelty." attitude. We are in the same division as two crazy evil MOFO's in Rex Ryan and Bill B. You better be ready to wage war....and settling for trying to win it by 3 at then end of the game aint gonna do it.

don't think you can demote a HC to OC or any other lesser position
they'll simply fire Sparano & replace him, they're probably in negotiations
    as we post these thoughts

murtha and mcquistan are still playing like backups IMO though they have improved. karl dorrell probably has a better case for sticking around and i dont think he's done anything either. i think basically every single position coach could be fired or retained with the one exception of david lee who is absolutely gone after henne's season. i would like to get rid of karl dorrell, dave deguglielmo and james saxon in addition to lee. the one guy i may want to give another chance to is deleone. i think he did a good job with shuler and fasano has had a nice year

At this point all we can do is speculate. It's going to be a crazy day and a crazy, busy offseason.

Murtha did okay imo, McQ had to many penalties, otherwise I thought he did okay as well, the one mystery guy was Joe Berger who simply was terrible and imo he would have been benched permantly save for the injuries.

Yep, and that is what is lacking in Miami in a nutshell, also gone was a sense of urgency were "anyone can benched, anyone can be cut".

i'm not completely blaming him for their performance since i believe they have backup talent and are playing or played like backups but noone has been developed other than jake long into anything special. john jerry and donald thomas are the two that could get him fired depending on how much they blame him for their lack of progress

Jake Long arguably already had what he's been showing. Garner is the only offensive lineman outside of long that could be viewed as having been developed by this staff. Murtha, McQuistan, Murphy, Thomas, Berger - all backup or lower quality.

Sounds about right, the problem could be Gruden wants a second bite at being a GM, if that is a deal breaker then there should be no deal as his track record as a GM is awful, as bad as Wanny's.

Gruden without GM powers is fine by my book.

We need an injection of attitude as much as we need an injection of talent.

Feels like a no win situation. Keep Sparano, this organization is a joke, fire Sparano, this organization is a joke.

He won't take the job then (imvho), he is going to pull down 5 million from his Bucs contract so he can wait until someone gives him total power..someone foolish enough to do so.

Now to be honest, if one looks at his time with the Bucs, they had some great runs, won the SB then the Franchise crashed for a couple of seasons, but maybe that is how things work in the NFL today?

You trade present success for future suckiness?

the thing with gruden is what he did in tampa is not impressive to me. i was more impressed with what he did in oakland. tampa, he stepped in **** and had a ready made team and got lucky enough to face his former team who he knew all the calls and audibles from

Yea, he also took over for a coach that shouldn't have been fired. A coach who built a very good quality team.

Also in the Raiders he didn't have personal decisions, that was all crazy Al Davis. Gruden did run the offense the way he wanted to, which lead to him being traded.

When Gruden took over the Tampa Bay Bucs. He did so with the understanding that Monte Kiffen would remain the defensive coordinator. Gruden had no problem with this when he was with the Bucs. So I don't think he would have a problem with retaining Nolan as the defensive coordinator if the owner requested him to do so. Nolan is rated as one of the top defensive coaches in the NFL and if Gruden were to be named the head coach. He would be lucky to have him. Of course the bigger question is. Does Nolan want to remain with the Dolphins if Sparano is fired and Gruden takes over? Nolan would have no problem getting another defensive coordinator position in the NFL. The fact is. If Gruden were the new head coach. He would need Nolan far more than Nolan would need him.

The positive is we can sign Gradkowski and have a ready made Qb for Gruden's offense, making a HC switch at this time is a huge risk and every short cut possible should be examined.

i actually think gradkowski would be a great stop gap QB (think Fiedler, Pennington) so long as we dont fall into the wannstedt trap of thinking we can win a Super Bowl with the guy. He could defeintiely get us into the playoffs but thats where the ride ends. we would still have to either develop Henne or find a new QB. I do think its time we ditch Thigpen and Pennington though

I would rather dump Henne, start Thigpen, draft Cam Newton, hire Gruden and go full spread offense.

Might not work, however it would be so much fun.

Just an example of how he would offer a shortcut if a HC move was made.

FWIW..I'd keep thiggy and peddle Henne if such a move was made.

Gruden went to a Tampa deal in salary cap hell (the same reason, if you remember, why Parcells didn't HC the Bucs back then).

Tampa did what many of you are proposing, fire the coach (Dungy) first, followed by a huge search. They didn't land anyone for a while, panicked, and traded two firsts and two seconds for Gruden. While Gruden cannot be credited with building the Tampa Superbowl team, he can be credited with building the Oakland Superbowl team, and probably would have reached another if not for the infamous tuck rule.

So Gruden came to a team in salary cap hell, without multiple first and second round draft picks and won a Superbowl. This problems contributed to a few awful seasons, followed by several division titles with the likes of Jeff Garcia, Chris Sims, Griese, etc. (all these crappy quarterbacks did quite well in his system). The Glazer family bought Mancester U and pulled financial support out of Tampa Bay, firing scouts and leading to crappy drafting. Gruden (as you all like to repeatedly point out) was still searching for his franchise quarterback when he was fired, but was fielding playoff caliber teams. And he did it with the talent of a 5-6 win team.

So yes, he's a hell of a coach. We'd be lucky to have him.
