I want someone out there to keep an eye on this and see how wrong I am here goes.... Retirees: Ricky Williams, Dan Henning, Chad Pennington Out: Channing Crowder, Yeremiah Bell, Benny Sapp In: Darian Sproles (from San Diego) Drafted: Shane Vereen, Ryan Mallett, and an assortment of OL, ILB and DB's On the bubble: Tony Sporano, Chad Henne, Ronnie Brown, Sean Smith
Out-Morano, Henning, Ireland, McDouche, Murtha, Smith, W. Allen, Ronnie, all scrub tight ends, McDaniel, 1 of Moore or Wallace, Ordrick
Because Smith is terrible hr is out of position and beat weekly! Look at Buffalos last TD he knocked it right to the guy. Ordrick may never play again, his original fractured Fib had a greater then 60% chance of stress featuring along the plate and well it did. Now it is a greater then 80% chance it happens again. I have been researching this because I need a similar surgery. McDaniels will be one of those head scratching decisions only if this regime stays. If they go then he will stay, if they stay then they will cut him most probably to make room for a Cowboy cast off.
There is no way in hell Sean Smith is going anywhere. He is part of a young CB tandem that is only going to get better. They will develop together in this young secondary. Ridiculous to think he will be gone. I've said it here before that Odrick could turn out to be a bust because of the injury. Not that I want to see it but I think we blew the pick on him. He was a player this team didn't need at the time and especially now since Soliai is developing into a fine nose tackle. Bad draft pick. IMO.
Henning, Crowder and Brown will all be gone. Sparano will stay and Henne will stay but may turn into our backup.
Sparano's job is a cointoss on account of not knowing what a first time owner like Ross is thinking. I'll say Ross gives him one more year. With that said, I think we could see Cohwer go to Houston and have Kubiack come in and replace Henning. At that point it would be up to him to determine if he could utilize Henne or start searching. I also think Kubiack would want Lee gone and replaced. Kinda far fetched but could go a long way towards a more balanced offense to compliment our young defense without blowing it up and starting over. Who the hell really knows?
Interesting blurb about Odricks' injury. Don't know why you would get rid of any of the defensive players unless it's a money thing. They should trade Starks for an offensive lineman or draft pick and keep McDaniels around. Ronnie and Ricky will be gone. Seems like running backs are getting more and more expendable all the time. Give me a dominant O-lineman over a talented running back. Henne's at least a good backup but the other Chad is done.
And it hurts all the more because we could have stood pat with our pick, and had Dez Bryant (and his hooker mother). Ireland & Sparano must go !
Your scenario is very plausible. Especially the Kubiak part, which I would love. His offenses in Denver always featured a RB and that is what it seems that Sparano wants too. That OLine has to be refixed because of Sparano's meddling. Damn him, now precious off-season moves & more money (that could be used elsewhere) will have to be invested in the OLine. Damn you Sparano, you must go, and the sooner the better.
Have you seen what Ireland has brought to our team? We have a top 5 defense that's FILLED with youth all because of Jeff Ireland. Also brought in some very nice pieces on offense. He isn't perfect but he's done a great job building our team up. If we had any kind of offense we'd be in the playoffs. Now that that's clear, he will fix the offense like he did the defense last offseason. Ireland deserves to stay and I hope he does.
Sparano stays and grows his gonads back (4th downs etc.), and reattains that drive and meticulous nature from last year. We get a good OC who turns Henne around (IMHO Henne is better hitting receivers in stride than all the stupid come-back routes). Ronnie is resigned and Ricky retires. I love Ricky but Ronnie is a great blocker and receiver, which adds to his value and he dominates when healthy. Honestly we've been plagued by injuries on the OL, so I don't know how you fix that??? Add a speedster at RB and WR. Tough call on Crowder? He'd be a great backup! Honestly, this season has gone how many pundits envisioned it going for the Dolphins (8-8/9-7)... One bad call away from beating Pittsburg, one dropped INT from beating Cleveland, etc.
Kubiak wold be nice. I even wouldn't mind McDaniels. As long as henning is gone. Which may mean sparano must leave. He seems to have a man crush on him.
Players that are on the bubble ... RB - Sheets, and Hilliard .... needs to be able to earn playing time next year or be gone TE - Haynos, Epps, Shuler and Mastrud .... someone needs to step up and show they can catch and earn time WR - Wallace, Moore, Foster, Pruitt and Carter .... someone really need to show some speed and catching ability T - Murtha, Kopa, and Marten need to step up and Carey needs to lose weight and get healthy ... good luck with the weight .... G - Proctor, Incognito, McQuistan, Feinga, and Ghiaciuc all need to show some agility C- Berger needs to show he can get to the 2d level, Ghiaciuc is a ??? DE - Merling and McDaniel ... position of strength, especially if Odrick is healthy NT - Baker ... needs to show something OLB - IKE and Moses ... have they shown enough to stick ..... ILB - Crowder, Dobbins and Spitler are nothing to write home about .... who knows about Ivy CB - Wallace, Ness, and Sapp (who has improved over the course of the season) S - Bell and Culver in order to save $$$$ Keepers: Nolan Henne Brown - as a playmaker, not primary RB Marshall Bess Hartline Fasano Long Garner Berger Starks Langford Soliai Odrick Wake Dansby Misi Edds Smith Carroll Davis Clemons Jones Amaya Carpenter Fields
Sean Smith on the bubble? Are we supposed to take that seriously? My predictions: Offensive Coordinator: Dan Henning retires, Brian Schottenheimer is fired from New York, Miami hires him Quarterback: Kyle Orton Departing Players: Ronnie Brown, Vernon Carey, Tony McDaniel Incoming Players: Logan Mankins First Round Pick: Trade down Second Round Picks: Pat Devlin and Kendall Hunter Best I can do at the moment. Not my ideas, not what I would propose...purely the most likely I feel to happen.
And if he does depart , it would be with compensation hopefully. Adamant about that , MCD is ready to be a major major factor and I would keep him over Odrick and I also think Starks if pressed. Odrick doesn't have nearly the same asset value right now due to his significant injury history imo.
I think they'll keep him. They seem ready to do so. If anything they'll trade him for Orton so that we don't have to give a pick to Denver.
What's the point of that? to take away from the strength of this team to make it a potential weakness? That doesn't make any sense no offense.
Ya I just don't seem them doing that. They've been pretty good about retaining young, solid talent and McDaniels isn't asking for anything out of this world as far as I've heard. I still wish we could take Odrick pick back though or at worst have it this year. Imagine having the 14 and another first together. Now that's a big start for acquiring Luck and doesn't even include that second or third we would have picked up the year before.
There would have to be a better option then Brian Schottenheimer, there would have to be...please!!!!
After Dan Henning, the guiy whose team went a month with 1 offensive TD, despite having Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards, Dustin Keller and a great o-line would be a tough sell. And I know nothing of Devlin, other than CK, likes him, which is basically fine for me, but if we're going to draft a QB, don't do that again. Don't settle for the 5th guy. Do what you need to do to get a top guy. And if you can't, hold your powder for the following year and try it again.
Because he's younger, cheaper and we have yet another 1st rounder coming back next season. It would make sense if the price were right.
All I want to add is that Ronnie Brown is getting a bad wrap. Besides the injury's, he has proven to be one of the best rb's in the league. This year was just ruined by our horrible OL. They can't run block for ****!! That and the fact that we don't remotely try to establish the run anymore Brown should get another contract from the Fins. I wouldn't expect it to be top dollar, but he has proven that he has #1 rb talent. A
If Schotty became the Dolphins OC I would admit defeat before the 2011 season even starts. Not going to happen anyway. I don't think Ricky will retire, he's said he'd play again with a 1 year extension, and I have no idea with Ronnie. I wouldn't be shocked if kyle orton became available and was picked up.
I think you're a goof, but I like the polite way you gave us something to look at. I "WILL" hold you to this ya know. :-) !
I am still trying to figure out why our OL was revamped the way it was. They can't run block to save their lives. We were better with last years line up. I think they created their own problems this time.
I think the problem they have is that they keep pulling Incognito. They don't use these guys in their most effective roles. They're not bad players all three of them, nothing great but they're misused making things even worse. The run play design is terrible. Incognito can't block on the move. Put him in a phone booth and he can play. Put him at LG and you're an idiot. Mind-boggling half the stuff that went on this past year and you can't blame Henne for that.
Brian Schottenheimer is highly regarded around the league, and if you remember how well Sanchez played last post-season or happened to have seen the way he kept the Steelers off balance last weekend you'd know why. Has he made his mistakes? Sure. And most of them have come when he's given Sanchez too much leeway. Also, the offensive line isn't what it was last year, and those receivers, while talented, have made more than their share of boneheaded mistakes. I wouldn't mind him here at all.
I agree, Incognito's pull on Ronnie's wildcat TD was a joke. He pulled and blocked no one. Watch the film, it's laughable - sad but laughable.
He's not a bad player but it's like sending Davone Bess on deep routes consistently. It's not what he's best at. Oh wait we do that too sometimes... Just poor design.
Hey, maybe we can get a 7th for him and the team can throw him on their practice squad. Designated fist-pumper? That's gotta have some value.
