Sapp is accurate when he says that Gruden wanted to come here. He's off base however, when he says that Gruden's interest was in any way responsible for Shannon's firing. Randy Shannon got Randy Shannon fired.
Herald: Golden hits recruiting trail immediately Goes on to say that Anthony Chickillo says he’s still committed but will talk with other schools.
Man if they can grab the two Db's from Southridge, that would be awesome. Especially the Holliman kid. He is a natural ball hawking safety. It's about time someone from UM started checking out Southridge. Shame on Randy for never giving the time of day. Golden should not stop there either. Southridge is where I went to school but there is some pretty darn good players at South Dade, and Homestead coming out next season.
Holliman received an in-home visit from coaches Barrow and Hill a couple of days ago, and he’s still committed to Ole Miss. For now, anyway.
Yeah, and they'll probably lose him because Randy made him sour on UM. It would show how good Golden is if he can seal the deal. I won't hold my breath or hold it against him either but its GREAT to see him reaching farther south
On the other hand, Brandon Harris has said he’s reconsidering leaving UM because Golden is making a positive impression. He probably won’t stay, but the fact that Golden is giving him second thoughts already is noteworthy. Absolutely.
I could swear I read the Harris was seriously considering staying and it depended on whom they hired. Hope Golden is golden because Harris would really help the Defense next season with his savy veteran play...
He is slowly getting decent players so when the new coach comes in he won't have to start from scratch. He's a decent recruiter and has done a decent job but yeah, I think it won't be long.
Confirmed: LB coach Barrow, OL coach Stoutland, and WR coach Hill will be retained as part of Golden’s coaching staff.
New player commitment: DE Olsen Pierre, 6’4’’, 250lbs. Currently plays for Fork Union Military Academy.
Not sure if you guys posted this already, But what do you think Soldinger wants to return to coaching at Miami http://miami.247sports.com/Article/Soldinger-Wants-to-Return-to-UM-Staff-8735
Well, I played for Soldinger so I might be a little biased... How about bringing back our old school Oline coach too?
Teddy Bridgewater committed to Louisville because he wanted to start as a freshman and get unnamed other “perks”. Buh-bye.
I went to louisville for a yr...worst football facilities i have ever seen. YUCK. Byebye teddy, enjoy kentucy!
Louisville? Dumb decision on his part. Happy about it though, kid would've failed in our pro style system the same way Jacory has. Hopefully Golden can get us a pro style QB like Gary Nova who just decommited from Pitt. I heard Golden was very interested in him at Temple, so we'll see.
I'd love for Dorsey to get on to the coaching staff. As far as Bridgewater, he is a talented kid, but honestly, I'm so sick of having an unitelligent QB. You can win in college football with them, but IMO it's always better to have a smart player at QB and listening to Bridgewater talk I don't get that from him at all. And deciding to go to Louisville kind of confirms that.
Also think we have a shot at Byron Moore, a JUCO DB
love his speed and instinct. Looks willing to hit. A little scary how quick he jumps the INT sometimes. Makes you wonder how many times he got burned deep on it.
85% chance that Brandon Harris returns to UM for 2011. Waiting to hear from the NFL draft advisory board. Golden wants to bring in 2 QB recruits for 2011.
Bringing in 2 Qb's does not make a ton of sense this year. One sure but 2? I don't see it with limited scholarships Get some big ol Hoss looking offensive lineman, some Lb's, a Wr, Safety, kicker, Db's and more lineman
It makes sense if Golden doesn’t like at least one of the QBs already on the roster. At the very least, it’s a good backup plan. Golden likes the OL, at least for now. He’s working on adding defensive depth. Harris coming back will help that.
I'm still not holding my breath on Harris coming back. I think he will have a pretty good shot at getting a 1st round grade from the advisory committee and while he says that doesn't necessarily mean he leaves, that would be pretty hard to walk away from. If he does come back that would be huge though. The guy is a stud.
Most of the higher quality Qb's are already committed to other teams so the leftovers will be no better than whats in the stable already. So it makes no sense to offer two. Bring in two? Sure He is also looking at offensive lineman because he knows you need to add them every year. I herd that directly from Golden on the radio. Although the offensive line has decent depth, you have to keep adding them every year. I like the DE he brought down as well. You show me a college coach that likes to recruit both sides of the line consistantly, and I'm happy because an over abundance of them does not mean all will pan out to being coached up. The lines are the most important area to build...
Brennan Carroll, son of Pete Carroll, hired as an assistant coach. Probably will coach TEs and help with recruiting.
