The ONLY time this offensive scheme is successful is when it is able to out-physical the opponent. That is a GLARING fact... When the running game stumbles Henning has CONSISTENTLY proved that he doesn't have the foggiest clue of what to do to get a WIN!!!! What does that tell me? That tells me that Henning doesn't have the brains to put a sound gameplan together... When does the scheme of this offense catch anyone off-guard??? EVER!!!
You have to be kidding me. I love how Henning, the largest problem on offense, can call out the second main problem on offense. Henning would be the guy who goes for par, and let me tell you one fact, par will never win a championship at the professional level. I by no means think Henne is the answer, and each week I'm thinking he's actually less and less of our future QB. But I also question how any young QB could function with these guys in charge. Regardless of our QB, if Sparano and Henning remain with Miami this team will be nothing more than an average team. There are no Chad Pennington's getting ready to be cut in 2011 that will be able to polish these turds like in 2008. Pennington was the best thing for 2008, but the worst thing for this team from 2009 and beyond. We bought into these guys running the offense and it was pure delusion. I want nothing more than Sparano to be gone, which obviously includes Henning. We've kept coaches and players way past their due here in Miami and we are close to being in the same shoes again.
I read the article and this more or less pretty much entered my head. Henning has been under fire for a while, and he will make up any excuses for it to save his name. Complaining about how he holds the ball during playactions? Maybe you and your QB coach should be coaching him instead and crying to the media. Thankfully he will be forced into retirement after this season. In the article itself I found a comment I pretty much agree with as well. Phinagain says: December 16, 2010 at 3:56 pm FA Jack, Bingo. You can tell why Parcells liked him – he’ll take credit for everything that goes right, and lay blame at the feet of his players for everything that goes wrong. OCs have the job of coming up with ways to beat a defense. If the defense beats your plays all the time, how often can you say it’s the players’ fault before you admit you’re making the wrong calls? If plays were always executed perfectly, teams would always win and defenses wouldn’t be able to stop them. That’s what halftime adjustments are for, right? Finding out how to tweak the playcalling, not to beat up on the players for not executing the plays everytime. According to Henning, if his players would just “execute” his calls, we could just run 1 pass play and 1 run play and repeat them all day with great success.
Gameplan? LOL! We are lucky if the defense doesn't know exactly what play we are getting ready to run. You'd think he'd at least be able to see what is and isn't working in the game on game day, but he can't even figure this out. I agree 100%, he is clueless.
It may be OK when you have a 5 year NFL veteran playing QB, like Delhomme was when he arrived in Carolina, but not with Henne who is in his 1st full season starting position. Henne needs a mentor and not someone who will play for "par"....or in this case, the field goal.
BS.... You didn't have to say it. If you deny that you are fooling yourself. In this thread you used Henning's criticism as your own. Nothing new from the Henne haters. Seriously that is your only debate about my post......
God forbid a kid with twenty-something starts not be able to figure out the right blocking assignment against one of the more complex, blitz-happy defenses in the entire league. This criticism essentially amounts to one thing. Dan Henning wishes he had Matt Ryan instead of Chad Henne. Ryan is really the only young QB I can think of that has shown a knack for reading defenses and adjusting. But it's not the norm. And I also love how he's just so certain that, had Henne called the right blocking scheme, it was going to be a super duper big play! Sure, Dan. And what about all the other plays you called the whole game? That's just really pathetic, in my opinion.
I don't know what you're talking about bro. I didn't even criticize Henne in any post in this thread. Saying that the staff has no confidence in him isn't a criticism of Henne or an endorsement of Henning. It's just a statement of fact, or opinion if you choose to see it that way.
Considering the quote had nothing to do with Henne and was given years before Dan Henning even met chad Henne, I don't know why it's relevant to the current debate.
I seriously doubt Chad Henne is the answer, and Dan Henning is not wrong, we shouldn't minimize Henne's opportunity, ability or responsibility to change what happened or improvise in a manner that makes sense. However, this is another example of Dan Henning blaming everyone but himself. I don't see how anyone can not see that. So let me get this straight, Henning knows it's wet out there, knows it's windy, ball is slick, bad conditions...and he calls a play that he knows calls for a one-handed fake. Seriously? Yeah, Henne could have changed that play call on the fly. But you know what else could have happened? Henning could have changed that play call too. It would take Dan Henning all of 5 seconds to use that fancy head gadgematronic do-dad to magically transport his voice to David Lee and say "Coach, it looks wet and slick out there, we'd better make sure to remind Henne to change all the one-handed fakes in the play calls to two-handers." HOLY ****!!! I can't believe I came up with that! All by myself, too! I swear, it just comes to me, it's like I have a gift. These are, by the way, literally the first and only two fumbles Chad Henne has ever lost in his career. Ever. So, for Henning to use them as the excuse for why the offense isn't working out...it's just more ways to deflect blame from himself, which he's been doing all year.
LOL at some Dolfans STILL supporting Chad Henne. Henne is one of the worst QBs in the NFL. Are you people even watching the games??? There is not one good aspect of his game besides having a strong arm. Can't read defenses, zero pocket presence (although he has all day to throw), can't run, no touch on short/intermediate throws, no accuracy on long passes, no leadership qualities, small hands... What the hell do some of you see in him? Oh well, you all will be believers next season when Henne either isn't starting or is off of the team completely. P.S. Dan Henning sucks too.
Mark Sanchez is a pretty ****ty quarterback and therefore, unfortunately, a bad benchmark for Chad Henne. In the end we have a lot of reasons to believe they both suck.
The point is that some people here, the media, football "experts" were all calling Sanchize a good to great QB a couple of games ago. Hell, someone here has in their sig written, "Please trade Henne for Sanchize." I don't think Henne "sucks". I don't think Sanchize "sucks". They both, or one, may pan out ...or not. They both need more time.
You can't argue that there exists some issues with Henne's play, you just can't. But what most overlook is the fact that he is getting worse. Why? I believe it is because he does not buy into the Offense that Henning is calling. Right after the benching we saw a more engaged Henne and an offense called that seemed to really suit him. Both are gone. I don't believe that Henne is as bad as he is playing, I think he is fed up with it all. Henning wants to continue to make his players fit his Offense instead of bending the O to suite his players abilities. Really it is not just Henne playing poorly, the whole O is but Henne being the defacto leader has the target on his back. Just my opinion.
Good luck trying to get it into their heads. Then again, why bother? We know the truth about Henne`s subpar QB ability but others fail to admit yet. Make that, YET!!!
You can argue about a lot of things concerning Chad Henne but he is outstanding at holding on to the football. I can't count how many times I've watched him get blindsided, winced expecting a fumble, and he somehow pulls it back in. I remember it happening once during the Week one game and my non Dolphin fan friend even made a comment about how well he had held on.
I wonder how Dan Henning would explain the Ronnie Brown pass out of the WC to Marshall in the pouring rain.
I`m curious as to why you disagree that Henne does have ample time to make a play and simply doesnt the majority of the time.
Isn't it the coaches JOB to prepare their QBs to not make those mistakes? Henning/Sparano/Lee has to get their damn scout team in practice to simulate those situations. Do it until it's mistake free. You don't go into an exam without practicing a thousand sample questions before hand. The buck stop with them. I'll like to see the offensive players being allowed to have a candid interview about henning too. I'm sure there's some colorful things that they can say back to him.
Henne and Sanchez obviously have struggled, but I would take Sanchez over Henne in a heartbeat. Sanchez looks like he belongs in the league and at this point Henne doesn't.
I don't think I missed a thing. Not once in this thread did he direct anything towards you. He never even said Henne sucks and he's getting berated like he's a Henning supporter thru and thru.
