Meyer just stepped down as Florida's heach coach. I am sure Meyer could add a lot to the Phins and he wouldn't have to deal with recruiters and all the stupid NCAA regs.
Pretty surprising development for U of F. If his intentions are to spend more time with his family, as he said, I doubt he is interested in doing much of anything in the foreseeable future.
Hey, you may be on to something there. He could run Denver's offense with Tebow at the helm. The fans in Colorado really want Tebow starting according to a bunch of polls in the Denver Post.
Maybe, but if you're Denver you have to try to make Tebow successful and you could use some good press/excitement. Urban Meyer gives you a chance at the first and a guarantee on the latter
haha at long as its with the Broncos I am fine with it. And you are right, Tebow would need a coach to work with his strengths, and Urban could do that. I just dont think he would be a long term solution.
Didn't he supposedly have a medical condition last season that made him step down then back up again ?? Now he wants to step down to be with his family ?? I'm not too sure about this guy and his motives...not to mention the spread offense has been proven to be a coach killer in the NFL....
he's burned out from coaching college ball. how's he gonna cut it on this level? he'll leave us stranded with a Dear John letter before the bi-week.
He's retiring from coaching, but is staying in Gainesville and working at UF in some capacity. As to this topic, he's a great college coach. But this season he was guilty of the very sin Dolphins fans accuse Dan Henning of: not catering his offense to what he had on the field. Florida went from Tebow to a pocket QB this season, yet they continued to run that spread option to disastrous (if you're a Florida fan) results.
Friend Roman529: every lead is valid. you just never know although Friend Muck is very much the pundit with these things what he says is usually right on the money never too early to start thinking about change Miami could have more than one major coaching position up for grabs in 2011
Exactly. You have just made my point for me. That jump ocurred 20 years ago! Nobody has been successful ever since. 20 years is a long, long time.
Meyer tried to be a figurehead HC ala Bobby Bowden this year but his assistant coaches were not up to the job . If he is not willing to put in the time and give his best effort then he should step down. I dont see him going to the pros .He is burned out.
Urban Myers urban Myers will be stepping down as head coach for the Florida Gators after their bowl game. Here is my question just to kick around. You like to see him become the head coach of the Miami Dolphins ? He has had success in College football but as we all know that doesn't always translate over into the Nfl. He seems young and successful is he worth looking at ?
Pete Carroll looks good... I don't want Meyer, but just saying... Carroll has done well with Seattle his first year.
Pete is coaching his 3rd NFL team. He coached the Pats & Jets in the 90's. What Fins fan over the age of 14 doesn't remember that?
Pete Carroll is doing "good" because his team plays in the NFC West, a division full of ******s and cripples.
Tbh, I think it is bs. He had the worse season of his career and I think he stepped down for that very reason. Imo, he is looking for a new job ie the pros.
I think he's done. He did this season out of a sense of loyalty to his people. I really think he's out.
I will pass on *** (Coach Urban Meyer). How many outside of Jimmy have made a successful transition from college to pro? *** doesn't have the passion anymore. You could see it all season long and it showed through the teams performance.
Yeah it was funny how as soon as Tim Tebow was graduating he was suddenly worn out and needed more family time.
