Chad Henne doesn't want your appology, but he deserves it. Man up and eat your crow.

Ozzy, what I think (or at least hope) the OP was referring to were those who predicted Henne would have lain an egg all week. They basically told us he would suck then when he didn't it was because the Raiders sucked. Even though this was the same Raiders team they thought would make Henne look like a joke. They say ALL WEEK that the QB makes the rest of the team look bad but today the QB didn't help make them look good. Some said he was mediocre today. Some claimed he made a total of 4 good passes ALL GAME! By no means does this mean he turned a corner yet, but to not even be able to admit he played a good game is just wrong.

    I'm not meaning you btw.

Can you at least admit that he is, and always was a better option than the Qb's we had/have on the bench?

Chadd henne played a good game today and I am glad he did but lets see him do it every week before we start sucking him off.
Trust me I hope he does and proves me wrong because I will eat crow if he becomes a franchise qb.But not after 1 game, not gonna happen.
Hopefully he lights it up the rest of the season because for better or worse he is going to be the qb for a while because we have no other options.

That's the gist of this thread. I like you. You were honest, and you still would like the guy to succeed. Too many don't like Henne but actually want him to fail. A failing QB leads to a failing team. Can they truly be called Dolphin fans?

The San Diego Chargers have the #1 offense and #1 defense in the NFL as of right this second.
They are 5-5. Stats do not tell the whole story. The Raiders have the #3 pass defense, and they suck. Again, stats don't come remotely close to telling the whole story, and that goes esspecially for AFC West teams who have it extremely easy.

Its easy to be a stat jockey when you play:
Titans, Rams, Cardinals, Texans, Niners, Broncos, Seahawks, Chargers.
Only teams over .500 are us, Pit, and the Chiefs.

They've had it almost as easy as the Jets.

Henne played well. I like the guy. But he made several very bad plays too. And all QBs make bad plays, but if it weren't the Raiders today, it could have been ugly. Like I said, I'm not anti-Henne. I have hope he can be a very good qb for us. Last season, he was the lone bright spot on several occasions. He has had a bunch of solid games this year, not just this and Tennessee.

But he left 10 points off the board himself, by that pick and terrible sack he took. He needs to improve. And a reactionary thread like this is funny..as if he was just anointed Dan Marino Jr...and has nothing left to prove.

im saying the Raiders being a top 5 pass defense is a skewed stat...maybe inflated was the wrong word choice and confused my point.

Texans have a high powered passing attack. So do the Chargers. The Broncos have the leading receiver in the NFL and the second best QB in terms of passing yards. The Titans have a solid pass game with Britt in and Bradford is playing lights out. I don't see how you can call it skewed. The teams they played even out to a pretty good set of passing opponents.

Henne played well today and I was glad to hear about it. But it's one game, and against a mediocre-to-bad team. I want to see him play well on a consistent basis against the good teams. When he does that, then I will say he is our franchise QB. At this point, he hasn't shown it yet and if we do wind up getting a new coaching staff in the offseason don't be surprised if they want their own QB. Of course, if Henne can keep playing this way, we SHOULD finish over 500 which would probably allow Tony to keep his job.

True, and when Chris Johnson, Arian Foster, Steven Jackson, Knowshon and whoever else is gashing your 25th ranked rush defense...you're probably not going to see many pass plays.

I've been saying since he was benched that it would light a fire inside of him, and it did. Besides that one awful pass, Henne played terrific football. This against a top passing defense, on a bad knee. He showed serious heart and guts and I'm proud of him. Great effort and great win!

I don't think they've done a particularly good job of developing Chad Henne. And if you think about it, who have they done a good job developing? Pat White came in as a 2nd round pick and by the time he left, he was a baseball player. After two training camps with this staff, he had trouble completing some of the most basic passes that he'd completed hundreds of times in college. Where's the growth? How about Tyler Thigpen? When he started against the Bears, was he BETTER or WORSE than he was when he was starting for Kansas City two years ago? You know the answer. I know the answer. Everyone knows the answer. Where's the growth? What about John Beck? Could they help that guy grow into a quality backup, or did they systematically destroy him until he was run out of town?

I'm not saying they should have turned chicken sh-t into chicken salad. I'm simply asking were ANY of these guys actually showing improvement under Miami's quarterback development?

    No, they weren't.

I think they've grown more uncomfortable as they see that what they've been teaching Chad Henne doesn't lead to a good offense, and so they're switching gears on him and saying "be more aggressive!" and that wasn't really sinking in. Bet he never thought he'd get benched for doing things and playing how he'd been taught, and when that happened it sent him a pretty strong message, like a slap in the face. A little antigony between Quarterback and Coaches isn't always a bad thing and if that's the way you can get Chad Henne to start thinking outside the box then that's the way it has to be. No use crying over spilled milk now and saying well how we SHOULD have taught him is...

There are 31 other teams that I am sure would love to have a new fan fruit up their fan's message boards with fuscia and lavender colored text.

Honestly, the kid was on one leg, threw for over 300 yards and two touchdowns. You do know what touchdowns are right? And field goals? Those are things that Tyler Thigpen can't get you as a QB.

Well, if that was the original intent of this thread then I understand but if that is the case, they were mearly shut up for this week and they will be back in full force next week.

    My meaning is this...

I did not like Henne that much coming out of college but I grew to like him here so I really do not fall into the basher catagory. I've made some comments that criticized him a few times and I was lambasted for it.

He played a solid game today. Very solid.

But he still should have NEVER thrown that pass into the endzone like he did. OK that's one mistake but he's done that exact same type of pass over and over again. I know he was trying to make a play but man, throw it to the back of the endzone where only his player has a chance at it.

The offensive line was getting him hit pretty good today. Well, the Raiders blitzes, and Miami not covering all men did a lot to help that but he still held onto the ball a couple of times, and one that turned into a sack that made the FG attempt a lot harder than it would have been. I'm far less critical about that though because he was taking a pretty good beating and that time he tried to move out and to his right so he could make a play. Notice that after that and the Int, he was throwing the ball away more?

This is not a Henne bash at all. It is critiquing his play and it also clearly states he played very solid today and was a huge part in winning the game. That and it seems Henning was told to run the damn ball more.

I know what some people have said. By that I mean the stuff you listed and more. I also do not mean to make it like a bash on Vinnie, or yourself here, but in no way do I think Henne deserves any kind of an appology.

This is his third season in the league so he's no rook.

He has not started a ton of games in those three years but he's started enough and been around long enough that he should be showing more and more that he is going to be a franchise player. I'm not saying he is or isn't.

Today he damned sure earned the right to tell people to kiss his ashtray but surely should not be looking at everyone like his critics are dead wrong.

one game doesn't make him Dan Marino. The time management at the half and the pic are still areas to work on. A solid game today. Now he just has to string them together. I believe Sparano's patience is wearing thin. If he doesn't put up this year and we do not make the playoffs, his days are numbered. If Sparano survives to make another year, Sparano & Co will be looking to upgrade him. Putting in Pennington speaks volumes.

The more I watch other QBs in the league, the more silly I think all this focus on Henne's occasional bad decisions and/or bad throws is. I mean, seriously. They're ALL doing it. Every single one of them. And at an alarming rate. I watch Drew Brees throw a couple that could have been intercepted every game. If you really tally up all of Henne's bad decisions or bad throws that could have or were intercepted, it's comparable with the rest of the league if not better than most.

What is missing is the other stuff that usually outweighs all that. The touchdowns, the yardage, etc. He's had a bunch of picks that either were not picks at all (see: Pittsburgh) or ones that were flatly not his fault.

IMO, take out the Ravens game and Henne has thre straight games that were very, very solid. Steelers, Titans, Raiders. Those teams have very solid Defenses and Henne put up some nice games against them.

I agree, Alot of it is that, most definately. I, also personally think alot of it, and why its such a huge deal amongst the fans is because we are constantly in close games (which appears to be what we like lol), and any little, common mistake a QB makes, is magnified 30 times because of its impact on the game because the score is so close. Not only are fans blowing them up huge, but so does the staff, because of how they preach ball control, and clock management, which really always seems to keep us in these close games.

Chad Henne is our guy. I don't see why theres any reason to still be disputing this. You guys watch some people like Jimmy Clausen or Alex smith in San Fran and you can just tell "that guy doesn't have it".

Chad Henne, while not blowing teams away, i would say he "has it." This team believes in him. That abysmal performance against the Bears just showed us how important Chad Henne is.

And as i've said before, we've played ourselves out of Andrew Luck already, who is the only guy i'd trade Chad Henne for as our starter next season in comparison to other options. Chad Henne is our guy.
