This just occurred to me. A lot of us are at least hopeful (or even happy) that Thigpen is going to get his shot Thursday, and, perhaps, beyond. Not only have we not given up on the season, a lot of us think things are going to go pretty darn well the rest of the way.

But do we realize we still feel at least hopeful with our THIRD STRING QUARTERBACK starting??? Really, name me how many teams would feel this way about their 3rd stringer? Any team?? I can't think of one offhand. Maybe Cleveland, as McCoy was their 3rd going in (I think), but who else?

Point being, we really are lucky to have had three QBs on our roster who had started 10 games or more with at least a little success coming into this season. Now, we still have a shot w/ our 3rd guy in there. MOST other teams would be doomed with their second stringer. Wonder how many games Indy would win if Peyton went down.

Anyhow, not sure how it goes from here, but at least we have a shot, and a reason to watch! Be thankful for this!

When you get to this situation because you lost two starting QBs in one game, I'm not sure "fortunate" can be the word no matter how good your third QB is.

I worry that Tyler Thigpen will focus too much on getting the ball to Brandon Marshall. He forced the ball a lot to Dwayne Bowe and Tony Gonzalez in Kansas City. The problem with that strategy is when you get used to making your way by feeding one guy, what happens when a good defense takes him away and you have to start feeding the ball to guys you don't trust and that you don't have a good rapport with?

i think even if he performs well thursday we have to temper expectations....the bears will not be fully prepared to play thigpen, and his style. Lets see how he does once teams have tape on him and how we'll use him

Bad thing is we are one play away from seeing Patrick Ramsey.
That gave me nightmares last night.

Exactly, I started a thread with a theme similar to this one, we are within a gnat's tooth of seeing Patrick Ramsey at Qb for us...

Fine line they have to walk killahp, Thiggy is better on the move, but he risks injury and Ramsey coming into a game, but leave him in the pocket with 3 dinged olinemen and risk a kill shot there as well, the Staff will earn their pay for this game.

I am only half joking when I say dial up Gus Frerotte.

Oh, yeah, I mean relatively of course! Meaning, how many teams can lose #1 and #2 and still be hopeful for success!

Noticed those Tweets on that yesterday, imo we have more talent on offense than Thiggy had to work with in KC, they had no equivalent to Hartline or Bess on the receiving corps.

I suspect if Thiggy tries to feed anyone it will be Fasano, maybe Bess.

Also, do not be surprised if we see more out routes and other routes outside of the hashmarks so by play design Thiggy's tendency to throw sailing passes that are picked off is mnimized, that is Sparano and Henning to a "T", they won't mind trying to have the best of both worlds, plays downfield with int chances minimized for a really good Cover 2 team.

    hope for the best.
Thigpen is well rested & difficult to sack w/ no major injury problems to complicate his staying healthy.
personally, would have rather they tried to reacquire Grove than go after another two-bit QB.

how about we revisit Pat White? maybe, he could get a release from the minors for the rest of the winter

Wow really so then who would be the backup QB. Ramsey is a bad option but we had to sign a QB.
You never stop amazing me with your logic.....

Pat White has to be a possibility
believe he's presently under a minor league contact but I'm sure something could be worked out
could decide to with Ronnie in the spread offense, using Marshall on occasion to get it down field
anything is possible, all I want to do is win & I think Thigpen is the ticket

will say this about that, if I were head coach I'd be looking @ a way to return Grove to the team asap

Good point. But, two things to consider that affect that issue:

    1) If I were to pick a WR for him to fixate on, BM would be one of the top two or three due to his ability to make plays on balls in the air that he has no business catching.

    2) If he gets too addicted to BM, I could see it disrupting his rhythm with Fasano and Hartline, but Bess, IMHO is so damn good at getting wide open on every route that he's just a nice security blanket that doesn't really need a rhythm...he's just always open, you just need to know what part of the field he's on.

Historically I'd agree with you, but this year he hasn't come down with plenty of passes I'd expect him to catch.
