This is just a passing thought and might mean nothing at all but I didn’t see any impact on Pennington throwing arm to create a season ending injury, and Henne walked off very well for a guy reported to have another season ending injury.

Henne’s hit was very ugly but he sure looked good walking off the field. Furthermore how can they already announce that he might be out of the season when they haven’t even done an MRI? Are they doing this to play with the point spread for Thursday’s game or something? For that matter Kerry Collins injury where he started to limp out of no where looked a little odd too. These injuries just don't look real to me.

Really? Well let's see, each time you have surgery on a shoulder it lessens its durability. Pennington has had 3 at this point, it doesn't take much to cause injury. Also his throwing shoulder went into Jake Long's leg pushing it backwards as his body fell forward. That is a devastating impact. As for Henne? It's called speculation. The medical staff is full of professionals. They can say, he based off of the swelling, symptoms and pain felt it is this possible type of injury. Therefore it is this possible length of time. The key word is might be done for the season. this has nothing to do with the point spread.

If Penny is that fragile, he's not done for the season - he's done forever. Henne is a tough guy and took a real shot, but it didn't look like a season ending anything when he was walking off. I'd just like to assume that it they make a report on a season ending injury they might actually have something to back it up? A little truth in journalism never hurt anyone. ....and what about the Kerry Collins injury where he imagined a mystery limp while walking and was done for the day? Like I said, sumpthin aint right here.

unfortunately players walk off the field with torn ACLs all the time exactly like Henne did. And that hit looked like an ACL hit too. Heres hoping its not.

Ronnie walked off when he tore his. It means next to nothing that they walk off.

I don't think I have ever seen a game where three QB went out with injuries before. I think this is a first. I sure hope none of these guys are really hurt, but it did look odd. Like I said Henne is a tough guy.

Are you a trained medical professional? I doubt it. What you subjectively infer from television footage of injuries is totally meaningless.

A reminder: after tearing his ACL in 2007, Ronnie Brown walked off the field, walked into the locker room, walked into the showers, and only then began to feel the effects of the torn ligament. To us, he appeared just fine, because he walked off.

Pennington and Henne are injured. Henne might be able to play again this season, but Pennington is done. Time for him to retire, come off the active roster, and take a position as a coach.

Pennington with his history appears serious to me. Henne didnt look bad walking off but it did on the play. I would expect that media speculation out there is if there is ligament damage around the knee. Therefor they would sit him and not take chances with his career. (they wanna sell papers so who knows whats the truth? It could go either way IMO)

Now on Collins it look like a achilles injury to me JMO . Marino wasnt hit either when he went down!

Lets all hope they heal fast

Nope, sorry but you're wrong, a 90's Cowboy Redskins game where 5 QB's were used.:oldtoker:

As for Henne's a tough guy, tough guys can have ACL damage too. I would much prefer Henne sit if hurt that bad than to be rushed back for one or two, at that time, meaningless games. Unless we plan on starting a new QB in 2011.

Did you not see how Penny injured his shoulder last season? It literally looked like he fell in slow motion and softly landed on his stomach. His throwing arm was above his head when he fell and the torque from the elbow hitting the ground tore his shoulder up again. This time around it was almost if he punched a 350lb guy (Long) in the azz. Long wasn't going to move so instead his shoulder, once again, tore.

As far as the Henne injury, it's not uncommon to have serious ligament damage and still be able to walk. The problem is the instability is now gone if the tendon was torn or stretched. I see many people each month that have torn ACL's/MCL's etc etc and they're walking fine.

He hasn't been ruled out for Thursday yet. You could say the same thing about Penny who threw a 18 yard pass after getting hurt.

You cannot tell how bad a injury watching the game, its silly.

Scar tissue is weak link. The more you have, the weaker that soft tissue becomes to tensile forces. Sometimes it doesn't look bad because you can re-injure that kind of area with multiple surgeries just from throwing the ball. Not saying that's what happened here, but you don't need a big hit, fall, or contortionist manuver to reinjure a rotor cuff that's been surgically repaired multiple times, or to the degree Penny's has.

Another example, back in the early 90's I was at a game where the Phins were playing the Colts. Keith Byars went down. Everyone saw him walk off the field without assistance. He had torn his acl and was out for the season.

Shulaboy is right. Sparano is so selfish that he convinced both of his starting quarterbacks to "get" injured so if Miami does tank the season he still keeps his job.

My Father while skiing few yrs back blew out his acl and mcl and still skied down the hill before treatment.

He actually was in vermont and the NY Giants orthopedic guy was working there to learn more about knee problems. He diagnosed him perfect

...because if you can motivate your players to fake injuries, miss time/money (as opposed to just playing better / giving 110%) for you then you deserve to be an NFL coach

I still can't believe the Dolphins were actually stupid enough to believe they could pull off an experiment with Chad Pennington. The man shatters like glass. He should be here to mentor and not to play unless it was an extreme emergency. A lot of people bashed Henne and took the bait hook, line and sinker. Absolutely foolish.

I won't mention any names cause you know who you are. :wink2:

For one, Henne was seen on crutches by numerous people after the game.

Also, the "might be out of the season" was not an official announcement. It was conjecture based on what sources within the organization thought the staff saw and knew.

It must be those horrible sports doctors jumping to conclusions who have little experience in this sort of thing. :shifty: I know knee injuries are pretty rare in football, so it's not like they have much to go on to lead them to any conclusions without the aid of an MRI. :shifty:

What's next?..... calling out a compound fracture?

    Doc: "The bone's sticking out!"......
ShulaBoy: "Yeah, but we can't know for certain if it's actually broken b/c there hasn't been an xray yet."

"Just For Men" must be making you guys extra mean or something. There just has to be another reason for the 'all you can eat' character assassination of Shulaboy that I am witnessing. All the guy said was that it was odd. Well, since 3 QB's don't get injured everyday I'd say he's kinda right.

Is it fake - who knows. Didn't we all watch the Jets game earlier in the year when the Jets were out of timeouts and they had a guy fake an injury to give the team an extra timeout? It wouldn't be uncommon or surprising. The way the world is today I wouldn't trust anything that I was told, especially if the government is involved, let alone sports.

The truth is that sensationalism sells newspapers, so it's in their best interest to make a big story out of speculation until the facts come in. Thank god there are still people in this fading republic who still ask questions instead of everyone following the leader off the opinion cliff.

For what it's worth, I like the thread and people who ask questions. I hope our society never loses these people.
