I'm a Jets fan, bro....and far from a Henne homer. In fact, if anything, I am a CP homer. Still have my Jets Pennington jersey. I just asked a simple question. What do you think your record would be if Pennington had started the year? I contend it would be the same and I am waiting to hear someone argue otherwise. And I also said that I agreed your offense was struggling with Henne. I just don't think it was the reason you lost those 4 games.
Disagree totally on this game. Henne had every chance to overcome the call with the ball in hand on the 20 and 2 minutes left needing only a field goal to steal the game. Granted, Henning didn't help matters with the draw play on first down and the decision to squeeze in another play before the two minute warning, but I think Penny's poise and experience might very well have helped to pull out a very big win in that game.
Yea, Henne's fault Fasano dropped an 8 yd pass on 2nd down. And I'm aware there were 2 downs left, but penny never showed much success in overcoming 3rd and long here.
I'm going to break down the door and destroy the room like a pack of drunken dinosaurs...... but no worries Padre has guaranteed the Dolphins will put up 28 points with Pennington at the helm.
Padre - I am not going to argue that Henne is better than CP. If CP's shoulder is healthy, I am sure he will run a better offense. That is not the point. I just have read people post that this move should have been made earlier - like it would have saved you a few losses. I'm not buying it. Your losses were the result of either the defense, special teams or both. Unless CP was going to line up at CB and cover receivers, or as LB and cover backs out of the backfield, or play special teams and block a guy coming in free on your punter/kicker, I don't see him making a difference in your record at this point in the season. Please tell me what game you would have won.
This. He would have had a better argument stating that the missed opportunities on the early TO's would have been converted by CP. It's not like Pit makes a habit of giving up game winning drives in the final minutes of the game.
Who knows, final scores are culminations of what happened during games. But in game play and adjustments are how you get there, if CP were in the game, would the game have been called differently? Passes dropped or completed? That is why looking back at a game, unless you have coaches film, is foolhardy, you do not know what was called, which play wasn't executed properly, and yet "this would have happened if that had happened" is engaged in? No thanks, the only game that matters is at 1pm Sunday.
Dang. That's a lot of excuses for Henne. Fact of the matter is, we were 2nd to last in TDs scored. Henne is a 20/20 king. Offenses led by Henne just can't punch it in, even with proven TD machines. We'll see if it's Henne or not, now.
Fair enough. Just be consistent. If CP and the offense put up 28, but the defense gets torched for 35, you don't take solace in the 4 TD's CP led your offense to. The bottom line is that they should have scored 36.
We make the playoffs and we are stuck with this inept staff for another year and with no shot at drafting a franchise QB. It would be a mirage.
He's a Jet fan. You can't pull that card out on this one. personally I think everyone should be above the "homer" "lover" "hater" gradeschool agruments on this board.
The move to Pennington doesn't bother me so much as the timing of the move to Pennington. If Penny is the answer to our offensive woes, why wasn't he in there earlier?
Was his shoulder strong enough to play earlier in the season BR? And there are other factors: -Titans avg 3 turnovers created a game and lead the NFL in points off of turnovers. -Two games in 4 days with Pennington they can use more of playbook for the Bears game, which obviates some playcalling issues for us. -Pennington also can work the clock more efficiently than Henne can, CP can run plays with :03 or :02 seconds left on the play clock.
Oh no, the mighty Titans are coming, maybe we should punt on third down? huh? which translates to less plays... which for an offense that is struggling to score TD's, isn't a good thing... okay if we are playing with the lead... not good if we're not..
Yeah. Pennington played in the preseason. Fared pretty well actually. I found this quote by Fisher to be very interesting... http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...-henne-as-dolphins-starting-qb?module=News_CP
Is that really how you interpreted that? Even though the following sentence says "I've always been a Henne fan"
Herm was a head coach.Yep,I said it! LOL,I like what Herm said but let it all play out first. We are all Dolphins fans and the starting QB for this team has 101% support from me. That's right, even Lucas and Beck.............
Quote: Edwards said Pennington fits the Dolphins’ offense better than Henne does. In eight games under Henne, the Dolphins scored just 12 offensive touchdowns, and never more than two in a game. “He’s great at the playaction pass, and that’s a skillset for this offense,” Edwards said of Pennington. “He’s going to playaction pass you, and he probably throws the best in-cut in football. He has a way of just launching it at the right angle and trajectory where the players can catch the ball.” “I mean, this guy is unbelievable,” Edwards added. “He’s a student of the game. He’s very smart. He’ll get you lined up. He won’t turn the ball over. He’s not a turnover guy. He will take what you give him. He’ll be very patient. He will take the check-down all day. If you don’t cover it, he’s going to throw it.” The one knock on Pennington, of course, is his arm strength. He’s coming off his third career shoulder surgery and hasn’t played a game since Week 3 last year. But Pennington answered a lot of questions in the preseason, when he was efficient as always, leading the Dolphins to 17 points in just five series, with two punts and no turnovers. And he played with the same players, and against the same defenders, as did Henne, who led the Dolphins to just 23 points in 18 drives, with 10 punts and three turnovers. Edwards said Pennington can overcome the lack of arm strength, and said Dolphins fans should have faith in Sparano being confident in the health of his new quarterback. “He’s been on this football team all season. The coaches watch him practice every day,” Edwards said of Pennington. “So are we going to tell coach Sparano, ‘You don’t know what you’re doing?’ They’ve been around the guy. He gets Chad Pennington.” & every word of it worth a second read -my very best to my fellow veterans-
Friend unluckyluciano said: "Henne shall start! If we have to take sparano hostage!!! God wills it!!" Really?this one went right over my head evidently, coach Sparano & I have one thing in common: winning
