    There you have it.

Difficult balance for Ross. He wants/needs competitive edges, but he also needs butts in the seats.

No it doesnt. Not everyone has the durability of a 15 year old kid and can sit through those games.

There have been literally dozens of threads about Ross's desire to eliminate the 1:00 games in September. However, this stat says it all:

"Since 1990, the Dolphins have won 72 percent of their games when the kickoff temperature hit at least 82 degrees. Anything cooler, the win percentage drops to 57 percent."

So, to all those who say it doesn't matter, you're just wrong.

I disagree that it is a "difficult balance". You give us a winner, you'll get "butts in the seats". Even if you give us a mediocre team, we still sell out the stadium.

You think Green Bay's ownership lobbies the NFL for less December games cause they're afraid their fans might get cold?????

I rather go watch our football team in the heat, in the rain, in what ever weather it may be than have a roof. We live in Florida, we deal with this weather 365 days a year, so you're saying that people cant deal with it for 3 hours?

I agree with this statement 100%

just sad that people cant deal with "sitting" in the heat for three hours to root for a team that "plays" in the heat for three hours

I think he's undervalued the fact that winning puts butts in the seats as well. IMO a wiser strategy would be to keep the games at 1:00 to rebuild that winning tradition and then figure out how to put a roof over the fans. Whether the fans can be shaded or not though will have less of an impact on attendance than winning would.

Well, for me the concern is not the heat it is the tone it sets for the Organization, Ross has said a Dolphins Team in the Super Bowl is his goal, does moving the games out of the heat help to reach that goal?

We started out 2-0 on the road , we lost two evening games and fell to 2-2, won another road game, now to my mind Miami has their first true "Home Game" of 2010 this Sunday.

So to me, let's see how it plays out on the Field and then decide.

The local fanbase lives here in the South Florida heat every single day. Although it may get really hot inside the stadium, we should be used to it and imo embrace it!

I freaking loved 1 pm games! Loved them! Not only for me, but I loved watching the opponents come off the field and head right towards the cooling fans...huffing and puffing.

If you can run the ball well, you can wear them out by the 3rd quarter...

Here's a little food for thought. I the past, we were not as big or physical as visiting teams. Now, is a different story.

Think Soliai, Long, Carey, Langford, etc play better in the heat? I don't.

And you don't think that the games in September at home, whether 1pm, 4pm, or 8pm have a KO temperature of 82 degrees?

I just have no patience for fans who would like to see us lose a competitive advantage so they can be "comfy" during the games. It's football, not tennis. Grow a set. Or try watching a game in Northern New York during December. You would be thankful for the sun no matter how hot it is.

It's a hell of a lot easier to get/stay warm than it is to get/stay cool.

I think that to sometimes Stitch, and I get you saying that living down there...... however if you take away the house aspect, there is no remedy in being in 20 degree weather with 20-40 mph winds, which is pretty much the norm from mid-Dec until mid March.....as much as I HATE summers here as they are in the 90's and 90% plus humidity, I will take that all day rather than the dead of winter......You can always go in a pool to cool off.....there is just no going outside (unless you have a kid who wants to play in the snow ) when it is that cold, its unforgiving...

Which is why we should embrace the deadly heat 1pm games in September.

BUT the advantage can go both ways. When you play in, practice in, and live in the same element, it is almost impossible to get used to the opposite.

When you're out on the field, you cannot bring your jacket with you or run around out there in shorts and a wife beater....

And lets not forget that the kid will be dressed down in thermals, and duck down jackets. On the field all they get is thermals...

Spoken from someone who lives in a warm climate. In my experience, having lived in both hot and cold climates, it's 6 in one half dozen in the other.

It's called get a cold beer, drop some ice in your underpants, and quit yer *****in.

Dude, I lived in Ohio from age 3 to 23. I'm speaking from experience of living in both climates. I'd take any sort of freezing weather over 90+ degree weather plus 90% humidity any day. It goes without saying I'd take 70/80 degree weather over either extreme as well.

Some people take to climates differently I guess.

I lived in Alaska for 3 years, and I'll take temps in the 80's (which is the average temp for the hottest month) with 100 percent humidity over freezing cold, 40 degrees, 50, 60 or 70....

the monday night game against the colts last year was brutally hot, at least in the stadium. i was pouring sweat at 9pm

its more about the crazy sun at its peak of the day that people dont like more than temperature alone which i think stitches was saying

Of course and he is right. It's sweaty hot most times of the day n night and especially when playing sports. I'm sure he is also right that it's still an advantage for all three times...1 or 4 or 8/9

But still, it is nothing like the daytime and it is more of an advantage playing at 1pm than 8 pm and a little more than 4pm IMO. I've been thru it all. Over and over for over 30 yrs

I agree it is an advantage for the Dolphins to play at 1pm (in white), but I'm not about to blame two primetime home games as the reason we are 0-2 (as if we'd be undefeated if they were 1pm games) either.

While I don't permanently live anywhere close to south florida , I have been going there for well over 25 years and have had two places there.

The heat is a lot different than in Canada but I love going to 1:00 games and never had an issue with the heat. Sure it is hot but you can temper that if needed or just embrace it.

I totally agree that it was a HUGE home field advantage that we should not let go of.

My sister moved to Orlando about 10 years ago. She moved in August and had been to Florida a lot , but she literally took 6 plus showers a day initially , she just glowed ( women don't sweat right? ) all the time !

i dont live in miami so i cant really comment on the heat, although the one game i went to this year vs the jets, although at night, i was sweating by the first quarter bc it was so humid and i was going insane.

living in ny, when the fins come here i will go, and it is cold. very cold.

bottom line, weather does not mean anything to me in football. for me, every ****in play i am so tense during the games, that i dont even feel the weather i am so focused on the game.

weather does not effect me during football games. its one thing to sit at a baseball game in the heat and humidity or the cold, and feel crappy, but with football being such a tense sports, its all mind over matter.

You are 21, its not that much of a drop off.
You're not ****ing 90, stop *****ing.

I also enjoyed seeing opposing players sucking wind on the sidelines, a steady running game and that weather is the perfect combo for wearing d own defenses.

He never said he had a problem sitting through the games, he said not everyone is like a 15 year old and can do it. He isn't necessarily *****ing but just providing an accurate counterpoint.
