I wouldn't mind firebombing the Patriots secondary for that loss. Dan Marino style 1994 firebombing.

Oh ya and then Ronnie Brown runs over them to boot. The makings of a top offense are there. Maybe a RB in the first round next year, a little bit more depth on the offensive line and that's something (don't necessarily need another TE if you're going 3 WR early and often).

Everybody knew that, like any trade, it was more unlikely than likely. Nobody argued that. What was clearly wrong was the contention that SD was unwilling to trade Jackson. They obviously spoke to many teams and were willing to trade at a certain price. That price was high, IMO above what they should have expected in the WR market, but it wasn't so high that it was impossible for a desperate team to meet it. The only back and forth was over the contention that the Chargers were not willing to trade Jackson which was proven incorrect. You seem to be patting yourself on the back for predicting that an unlikely event that everybody agreed was unlikely didn't occur.

It was nice to hear during the Patriot game that the F.O. is quite high on Wallace. But he's still a pretty raw prospect, I think, to put in that position just yet.

    Only if:

    -Evans takes a paycut
-they are confident that Hartline can be a returner of punts and kick offs

Evans is not worth Beast money.

Hmm, wonder if SF would be interested in peddling Ginn back...:shifty:

    What about it?

Actually, that was where I was most correct. San Diego never had any interest in trading Jackson, as in they never engaged in any good faith tactics to seriously work towards a trade deal. They granted Seattle permission to talk to Jackson without Seattle asking for it and without Jackson requesting it. They jacked up their trade demands when it appeared the Vikings had reached a preliminary contract deal with Jackson, just to ensure a trade never happened. Their price was enough to turn the New England “we have eight draft picks in the first four rounds” Patriots away with just one phone call. The Rams’ interest was exploratory, and they seem to be out of the WR market, as they passed on the chance to claim Devin Thomas. The Chargers never intended to trade Jackson. They want a McNeill-like resolution, not a Moss-like resolution.

So yeah, I was right. Ozzy, give me more back patting diagrams. Double resolution.

That's just speculation on your part. You're just using the fact that an unlikely event, that everybody agreed was unlikely, didn't happen as proof that your speculation was right. You're obviously free to keep patting yourself on the back, but I think you're the only one who believes you were right or that it was such a great prediction. Maybe if you keep saying it, you'll convince some people you were right. I don't know, but IMO it would be similar to me saying at the beginning of the season that no team would go undefeated this year and then spending the rest of the season telling everybody how smart I was. I don't think anybody would be convinced I was all that smart b/c of it.

It’s an educated deduction based on all of the evidence available. When the Chargers invited the Seahawks out of the blue to talk to Jackson, then red flags went up and stayed there. I don’t see anything that would infer this was a routine good faith trade situation like Moss to Minnesota, or Harrison-Bell, or any other deal.

That analogy would apply only if I said “no player in the NFL will be traded this year because their teams don’t want to deal them” or something along those lines. Instead I just said “based on the evidence available, the Chargers aren’t engaging in good faith negotiations to trade Jackson”.

If you believe the imaginary former point as a rule of thumb, that teams don’t want to trade their star players, then I don’t know what the controversy is over the real latter point, that San Diego had no intention of trading Jackson.

And that’s pretty much all I have to say on the topic.

Its speculation whether or not it was not good faith negotiation or whether the Chargers came in with a price and just stuck to it. AJ Smith has a reputation for setting the price high and sticking to it so its not reasonable to say that couldn't have been what happened here.

As for not saying anything else on the topic, if that was what you had done to begin with then no one would have been posting diagrams of people patting themselves on the back.

We could use him right now as a deep threat and Returner, but it is what it is.

I think this winds up being a bad deal for the dolphins, no offense to Nolan Carroll, but they traded Ginn and had no one to take his place.

    Maybe Carroll surprises everyone.

Considering its very unlike Ginn to even catch a ball especially going over the middle.

I do think its quite sad that in 1 game Ginn had more yards as a returner than anyone we had back there thus far. That is where we miss him.

I watched that SF/PHI game and Ginn definitely looks much diff as a returner.

Basically, he looks like he got some of the ***** out of him. Not looking for the sideline, cutting back inside, nice hesitation moves..

Where the f was that when he was here?
