"Sparano said that in 15 of his 20 wins as Dolphins' head coach, the number of rushes were greater than the number of throws and that in the 17 losses, 15 times the inverse was true.".

We definitely need to run more. Plus we need more of a pass rush. Hopefully Odrick will be back soon!!

I thought this formula was figured out a long time ago. Any other OC would play to the strengths of the team. Not Mr Too Smart For My Own Good. He's senile so no one should be surprised that it took this long for him to figure it out.

It's such a stupid stat to use. When teams are losing they pass more and when teams are winning they run more. It completely skews the stats. It would be more accurate if they didn't count the 4th quarter.

Something is very very wrong with how we are using our talent in the offense. Dan Henning had better go back to the drawing board on the run, pass and the purpose of the wildcat.

If a mechanic goes to work everyday and has all the tools but still can't do the job - you don't fire the tools. Our talent is fine - the new offensive scheme sucks!

In the age of chimpanzes I was a monkey...

Tony really screwed the pooch tinkering with the O-line in preseason. Our stop gap, free agent, injury prone line was much better last year.

We've got young talent, but we're outcoached and outschemed.

We are so effed as fans of this team.

If you add Ricky and Ronnie rushing yds together I think we are Top 5 in rushing yards.

We'll be fine, this is just a return to Ground Sparano, no more will Henne be spraying the ball around the field.

I'd really like to see Richie Incognito at Center and let McQuistan play LG.

But that is a minor thing.

Wow this forum is filled with hypocrites. Last year everyone kept complaining that in order to win in this league, we need to do it by air. Now everyone is crying that in order to win we need to win it on the ground. Like I said before, to win a football game, a team must excel in 2 out of the 3 aspects of the game: offense, defense, and special teams.

Somewhere along the line we switched philosophies from the run setting up the pass to the pass setting up the run. IDK why but that style may not work best for us. After the bye week I think adjustments will be made and things will get back to normal.

i was watching nfl network the other day and they showed a sound clip of bellicheck during our last game. he said, "they're doing exactly what i said they would do...ricky is doing all the outside stuff and ronnie is doing all the inside stuff." Bellicheat is always one step ahead of us. probably because he has camera's set up in our practice field, but that's besides the point. i wouldn't mind changing things up with our play calling.

This has been my main complaint about Henning, predictability. I don't mind the WC, but I do mind how predictable we are when we use it. I don't like how we seem to go into a game with a plan to either run or pass 80% of the time. I don't like how obvious it is that we only run RB inside and RW outside.

BB was extremely well prepared for us, from ST to Defense to even our tendencies in the running game, that is a serious issue for Sparano as his philosophy is each game is supposed to be somewhat unique, when the opponents know what is planned there is a problem that needs to be cleaned up in the Staff.

I also really believe we lack a designated blocking Te, we lost more than we realize when Joey Haynos went down.

I hear a lot in the player interviews "we take what the defense gives us"..that is a shift from being a smashmouth team that imposes its will..I don't like it and hopefully this will be a return to that attitude.

Imo, Henning has made many mistakes this year..His offense looks like it doesn't have an identity or a rhythm, he's not using his running game in obvious easy down and distance situations, and he's abusing the wildcat.

Iam not quick to criticize, but imo, this case deserves it..

Maybe Chad is battling more then we think.

He may have known, but it didn't matter. We didn't have much trouble running the ball. The Pats played a very conservative defense, especially vs the pass. That why Marshall never caught a pass in the 1st half. They gambled that Henne would make a mistake or force a throw, and they were right. Hopefully Henne learned from this and stays patient next time.

This. I hate to criticize as well, because every coach in the league knows 10X more football than I do but C'mon man. Its been 4 weeks and not a single screen or smoke route to Marshall, the leagues best run after catch WR? Any time BM gets a cushion, Henne should be throwing it out there for a 5 yd gain. That would set up the fake smoke route-draw play that Dallas started and half the league has picked up on. IMO, our screen-draw game is a bad joke. Perhaps if we spent less time on gadgets and more time developing our base offense, we'd be better off.

The only WR to get a smoke route was Hartline for 3 yds, and Bess got the only screen for -3. The only time we got it to Marshall behind the LOS was on a toss sweep vs NY. HUH??? I just don't get it. These are easy plays and cheap yds that we aren't good enough to pass up. And over the course of a game, they open up opportunities for for us to attack in other areas, like a jab in boxing.

What irks me the most is that we'll have success with something and then never go back to it. The deep ball to Marshall this year has been awesome. A near TD and a near big play in Buffalo, a 40+yd completion at Minnesota, another big play vs. NY. Hartline was a step away from a TD vs NY also. But against the weakest secondary we'll face all year (besides Detroit) we don't even try a deep ball. So what if he's covered, throw it anyway, its frikkin Brandon Marshall. Once we get around midfield, just chuck one up there and see what happens, worst case its a good punt.

Having said that, offense is the least of my worries so far. ST and defense are bigger concerns.

I think the main problem was not running enough. Don't have to run more than pass to win, but you need to run more than we were doing. Everyone knows we should've ran at the goal line against the Jets. Then against the Patriots you could see Ricky was finding holes, after his big run we go right to pass which turns into INT. Should've given Ricky the ball again, or see if Ronnie can get going as well, especially in the red zone. It was working but we barely used it then ST put the Fins in a big hole and they couldn't use it.

Ive heard some folks say they think ronnie has looked sluggish, which I disagree with, in the first quarter last week he flashed several times, then, it was all ricky, all the time. I believe Ronnie is on a strict pitch count for the first quarter of the season and they seldom deviate from that...which is fine..

If we dont see 20 to 25 touches from Ronnie in green bay to start his new season then I dont care how much more x's and o's he know's more than us, he's a human being, and were not chopped liver here, {we put in time}....I know our players skillsets, and how and when to use them..

On a good note, I believe our trio of receiver's have identified their roles and space on the field, i saw them come together and I feel like there is a rhythm developing.

Ronnie has had a tweaked hammy since the Jets game; hence he wasn't used as much in the second half. That's good info. :wink2:

Dunno about you, but calling me anything above chopped liver is a major stretch...

IMO the coaches just prefer giving Ricky the ball. Ronnie does more dancing, while Ricky just hits the hole and gets whatever he can. I prefer Ronnie because he doesn't fumble as often and he's a much better receiver but I can understand the staff wanting the reliable 2nd and 6s that come with handing Ricky the ball.

I agree with the 20 touch thing. 15 carries and 5 receptions sounds good to me. RB is dangerous as a checkdown WR and/or screen back so we should use that more. But like you said, Henning doesn't seem all that interested in it. I want to see ALOT more of Davone Bess from here out. Our 2TE set is a joke, and as much as I like Polite, his blocking isn't as good as it was last year and Bess creates more problems for defenses than Lou does. They've got two weeks to come up with a way to beat the Pack. I see some holes in their D we should be able to exploit, but we'll see what happens.

Other than Jerry at RG, I don't think we have improved with our interior switches at LG and C. We kept hearing how Smiley's shoulder is shot, but he has been starting every game for Jax. Vince Manuwai, a long time starter in Jax, has been relegated to a reserve role, because of Smiley, who were led to believe had devolved into a prematurely old infirm.

Grove could handle the big 3-4 NTs 1 on 1 run blocking, and I'm not so sure Berger can do it near as well. Seems to me we made changes for the sake of change, when our OL last season was one of our strengths.
