Monday's loss was painful no doubt but for all of you who are throwing in the towel and giving up on the season I present to you the greatest motivational speech ever, one which proves the season isnt over yet.

    Actually I'm sort of a fan-Darwinist.

Anyone who wants to throw in the towel on cheering for this team after MNF's game, I would not miss if they went away. It was a pothole in the street is all it was. Learn from it, regroup, and move on.

    But great speech there

Meh this doesn't even rank in my top 10 soul crushing Miami losses ever. So no panic as long as the coaching staff gets it fixed.

On the plus side Odrick, McDaniel and John Jerry will all be back and with a little luck maybe Crowder.

Last I checked, we still had 12 games to go. Anyone who thinks the season is over now needs to go watch the UFL or something, I think they only have like what 8 games a season?

I think people who are claiming its just a "bump in the road" underestimate the importance of winning home divisional games.

Its going to end up burning us down the road.

After dropping the Sunday nighter to the Jets, Monday's game was a devestating blow to our playoff hopes. Our season isn't over -- but the notion isn't as much of a stretch as some of the posters in this thread would lead you to believe.

We're 2-2. If we finish with a better record than either the Jets or Patriots, a home loss to them won't matter at all.

What do you mean "underestimate importance"?

What's important is your record at the end of the year, not a game in week 4.

Tell that to the 2008 Patriots.

There's a reason why the coaches in this division view those matchups as being worth a-game-and-a-half.

I am so tired of the whole "you can't give up on the season" crap. If you can't judge a team's worth by how it plays, just how the hell DO you judge it? This team is playing like crap on offense and special teams. Unless they radically change their play, the season is shot.

So you reference the first 11-5 team in NFL history to NOT make the playoffs to bolster your argument?

Yes, obviously with tiebreakers it matters. Bigger picture, brother, bigger picture. If we finish 11-5 and they finish 10-6, that game at Joe Robbie/Pro Player/LandShark/Sun Life/Whatever-company-we-whore-ourselves-out-to-next-year won't matter! That is my point.

Crap on offense? We just laid down 400 & 436 yards of offense the last two weeks, with the larger number coming against a legitimate top-3 defense in the NFL. Henne is averaging 240 yards a game and has thrown more TDs than INTs. He has a nearly 65% completion percentage, which puts him near the top of the league. All this, despite a rather conservative OC in Henning.

Our special teams was a problem, but we're taking steps. I look at MNF's game as an eye-opener. It was so bad, you'd think that we will learn and will not allow that to happen again. We may not turn into the best ST in the league, but if we can remove any of those return TD's, our season is far from shot. We're 2-2 which is tied for the 3rd best record in the league right now! (see? Perspective!)

Have faith, there are many positive signs. We just have to open our eyes wide enough to see them

Well considering it flies directly in the face of your whole point, I thought it was pretty relevant. The 2008 Patriots watched the playoffs from home precisely because of a "week 4 game" (it was actually Week 3, but nevertheless). That's rich.

You're missing the point entirely. My point being not all 2-2 teams are created equal. Miami is without question in the most difficult position of any .500 team in the league -- not only because of whom they lost to (divisional opponents) but where (home). I'm pretty confident they're the only team in the NFL to have lost 2 divisional games at home (aside from Buffalo).

That's brutal. And it will come back to haunt us this season.

I'm taking your postings as positive then; you must be pretty confident that we'll finish the season with the same record as NE and NYJ.

That's the only way any of your point matters.

I will never be fairweather, emo, distant, but I have to admit I am not as excited as I was on Week 1, more or less confused and tired of how many times I say..."I only see this during a Dolphins game"....I offer this as my feelings....hopefully they change....however it is like election season watching Miami...always promised things will change and a different path is coming but does it?

Well the losses all but assure us that we'll have to finish a full game ahead of the Jets/Patriots to win the division/wildcard. I'm no mathematician, but that can't be good for our playoff chances.

Just to put things in perspective -- we're already 2 games back from the division lead. I'd say a 2-game deficit, one month into the season is a bit more than "a bump in the road."

And all that has led to an average of 16 points per game scoring 13 and 14 against two of the five worst scoring defenses in the NFL (Buff and NE)

I'm all for keeping the faith, but reality is a *****.

You win some, you lose some. This team can play night & day, however. The reality of these last two losses sucks, but all I'm trying to say in all these "sky is falling" threads is that the season is young, it was just one game against the divisional foe, and there is still hope.

Biggest problem was ST, and we're making progress to fix that. Further, we're getting our injured guys back slowly over the next two weeks. Don't discount the negatives, but don't overlook the positives!

Last I checked we have a game in the Meadowlands, and Gilette Stadium, has this changed?

We win those games and we're tied with the other two teams in our division, and these two losses mean little to nothing.

But I guess everyone's got their looking into the past it's hard to look to the future. Sure they'll be hard games, but we split with the Patriots last year, AND lost at home.

I know, it's impossible to do, I'll go back to finding a knife... down the stream, not across the river right?

I certainly hope you're right and it would all but erase the negative effects of these early season losses. But I'd be lying if I said I had confidence in this team winning a game at Gillette in January.

I'm not giving up at all. Our offense is starting to play well and I know we're better than we've shown the past few games. Take this bye week to tweak a few things, get healthy and start rolling again in Green Bay.
