no. bradford was #1 overall. henne a 2nd rounder. bradford will make mistakes and henne will have a better season than him by the end of the year. plus i'm still not convinced that bradford can handle a 16 game season physically

17 starts. When discussing years played, it isn't meant to imply the time riding the bench. 17 starts.

You know detractors would argue that there are way too many moving parts in football.

But they also forget that every coordinator/HC calling the shots has headsets. Headsets that can (theoretically) be tuned in to the same channel as that across the sidelines. The guys calling the shots could very easily machinate a somewhat staged football game. Even without players knowledge/consent. This would mean that a canned ratings boost in the form of a big play could be orchestrated to perfection by the head guys both sides of the ball. I've brought this up in the past, and no one had ever given an adequate reply because we simply don't know for sure.

Reaching even further, one can argue that coaches would collude with one another throughout the prep week to gameplan for a loss/win.

With that out of my chest, I am now removing my tinfoil hat as I refuse to believe that Professional Football (a game at the epicenter of a multi billion dollar corporation) is staged.

The fact that he was drafted #1 speaks of talent level coming out of college, right? Makes me wonder whether or not Henne has hit his ceiling. As for the season as a whole, you're right. There's a lot of games left. We'll see. As for Bradford physically, I'm not sure I agree.

OK, Henne has more experience as a starter in college and the NFL. Also has a better team.

Other than a strong arm, I just do not see what you Henne lovers see in him...

I have discussed with my girlfriend many, many times. We both agree that Henne is not the answer at QB.

What has he shown at all other than a strong arm? Sorry, but I just do not see what you all are seeing...

That's just cover for Henne. All the elite QBs except Brees got it quickly. Even Brees got it at teh beginning of his third year of starting, not after.

3rd year of starting. Henne has had 1 full season equiv of starting, by your own argument he needs more time

who said he was? We just say that it takes more than 1 season of starting to know. It is the Henne haters who think they have the answers

That's not my argument. How did you get that.

I said elite QBs started to get it in the 2nd year of starting. Sparano says AFTER the 3rd year of starting (i.e. 4th year of starting). I stated Brees as the only elite QB who took longer than normal, and then it wasn't in his 4th year but his 3rd.

Manning, Ryan, Flacco, Palmer, Brady, Rivers and Rodgers (who both had great years immediately), McNabb, Romo, you can even argue Schaub all had borderline great 2nd years.

Brees really didn't get it until after the 1st quarter or so of his 3rd season of starting.

His first 4 games of his 4th year went:

    17-24, 209 yds, 2TDs
    8-19, 146 yds, 1 TD, 2 INTs
    14-29, 121 yds
    16-20, 206 yds, 3 TDs.

You could say he got it at the 4th game, but before that game his season was shaping up to be pretty terrible.

Even then, Brees had almost 2 years of starting under his belt (3 in the league) and almost 1000 passes thrown (he was at 981 following the 3rd game of his 3rd year starting to be exact). How about we let Henne play out this year before claiming he's hit his ceiling or that people are just covering for him.

Also as far as all the elite QBs aside from Brees getting it early, I guess it depends how far back you want to go. Plenty of HOF QBs were anything close to to it in their 1st few years starting (Kelly, Elway, Favre, Aikman, Moon, etc).

  11. Love the avatar!!! Henne will pan out, but i did notice that during the game he eyed his receiver the entire time.

this is 2010 & we have a better QB sitting on the bench that knows how to win

Chad the Senior should get the start in Game Five

Go look at the last few games put up by Penny before he had another shoulder surgery.

There is in no way one can back up a definitive statement like "we have a better QB sitting on the bench."

    It's pure and simple conjecture.

Crazy colors and fonts don't make posts stand out in a good way either. It screams "hey look at me, I need the attention. I have no facts to back up my posts, but I took the time to format my post, so I surely know what I'm talking about."

  16. For those of you that think you should start Pennington, your nuts! Non mobile Qb with a less than average arm. He will get eaten alive by the defenses of your remaining opponents. You need to just let Henne get his head right, pulling him now will have long term effects.

    Friend Stitches:
    and if you're wrong & I'm right?
the only negative you can hang on Pennington is injuries & apparently he has recovered & ready to play
    the facts:
    1) Pennington is a ProvenBull that has already lead us to the AFCE championship through his accuracy, experience & leadership. He is a Franchise QB sitting on the bench
    2) Henne is none of these things. if he will one day be great, let him sit, learn & develop quietly w/o damaging our chances of winning
    3) in my mind its simple, play the QB that gives you the best chance of winning. if Pennington proves to not have what it takes, than the season is a write-off, then you bench him & replace him with Henne or Thigpen. look for Pennington to start game five.

I just "love" how on this board, every single year there is a player that half the board needs to hate and rip on, and the other half that has some common sense has to defend. we see it every year, and its quite sad really. Feels like most people have just come out of the woodwork to complain.

How anyone can make the conclusion that a player is a failure or a success after 17 games as a pro is just ridiculous on all fronts.

Sure, putting in Pennington may win us an extra game or two, but then what when he packs it in after this year (which is more than likely) or if he gets hurt again? Now we're left with nothing. The best thing for this team, like it or not, is to play Henne. Let him get experience, and its on him to go out and improve his game, and its up to the coaches to evaluate him and determine where we go from there.

At the end of the Jets game it was 1st and 10 at the 11. We called four pass plays. No touchdown. You can spin it any way you want but Henne got four shots at the endzone and he came up short. I am not trying to slam him. I like Henne. But facts are facts.

Against the Pats he threw 2 interceptions in the first half. Both led to a Pats field goal. It could have been 21-0 at the half. Then he threw a pick six in the 4th quarter that was the nail in the coffin. After the game Henne took full responsiblity for his disappointing performance.

But every QB has a bad day. Even Dan Marino. Henne will bounce back.
