Ready for a good hiding :tongue2:

Shame about the weather, its a lovely course.

I thought the Euros would have made the most of the weather, but Cink was superb today.

    Thoughts ?

Nice back to back runs by USA to take 6-4 lead heading into unique 6 match format to play catchup against the weather.

I will say, after the weather played havoc on the first day, sliding in essence the final 4 matches of the first day, and spreading them over to 6 and 6 matches today was very smart...puts them back on track for the final 12 matches.

If USA can continue to do no worse than a split in these 6 matches, then this 6 to 4 lead should provide the cushion heading into the final 12 matches tomorrow.

As it stands, USA needs 8 of the final 18 pts available...not bad position to retain the cup.

Of course, currently trailing all 6 afternoon matches doesnt help at all..........dang EUR dropping every putt they look at.....USA not!

This needs to change....losing all 6 pts would be a big blow!

Darkness sets in....USA will trail all 6 matches overnight.

Match 1 Steve Stricker Tiger Woods vs [IMG] Luke Donald Lee Westwood 4-up thru 9
Match 2 Zach Johnson Hunter Mahan vs [IMG] Graeme McDowell Rory McIlroy 3-up thru 7
Match 3 Dustin Johnson Jim Furyk vs [IMG] Padraig Harrington Ross Fisher 1-up thru 8
Match 4 Bubba Watson Jeff Overton vs [IMG] Miguel Angel Jimenez Peter Hanson 2-up thru 6
Match 5 Matt Kuchar Stewart Cink vs [IMG] Francesco Molinari Edoardo Molinari 1-up thru 5
Match 6 Phil Mickelson Rickie Fowler vs [IMG] Ian Poulter Martin Kaymer 2-up thru 4

That's way to many EUR flags.....Hope things turn tomorrow early to at least square up a handful of these and earn 1/2 pt....and ultimately the 12 singles matches go our way retain the cup for USA.

Man, what a great couple of days of golf. Truely spectacular. You see these ultimate professionals forced into trying to make the best shot possible in these matchplay settings depending on where the opponent lies, it's like nothing else in golf. Really thought the US was looking good up 6 to 4 but with these suspended matches in conrol of the Euros, darkness couldn't have come quick enough. Perhaps this will be similar to the rain delay that I thought turned the momentum yesterday. Just a flood of good things happening for them there. I think it's much more important for the USA to keep the lead heading into the 12 single matches than it is for the Euros to be leading. They can come back, I'm not sure the US side could.

Very impressed with Overton, Cink and Stricker... putting is just so huge.

When the sun comes out on that golf course, it's simply spectacular visually.

Ugly for USA, got steamrolled...now trail 6.5pts to 9.5pts.....heading into final 12 matches (all tomorrow with rain messing up the schedule).

oh well....USA continues to blow when traveling to EUR. Need to find a way to grab 7.5 pts out of 12, otherwise they are flying back without the cup once again. My expectation = say your goodbyes now.

agreed, it's all over really... barring a miracle, and I do mean miracle the likes of USA over USSR in Lake Placid...

US had it going today and it seemed like they still had a shot at keeping the lead heading into tomorrow... three of the remaining four matches looked winnable but then to come out and only get a half point, that is the cup right there.

Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Jim Furyk have really played at embarrassing levels. Supposedly three of our better players have done absolutely nothing.

How about the single matchups for tomorrow?

Stricker v Westwood (must win for Stricker)
    Cink v McIlroy (interesting matchup)
Furyk v Donald (this could be over quickly)
    D. Johnson v Kaymer (if that doesn't get Dustin fired up, I don't know what will, after that debacle at the PGA)
Kuchar v Poulter (both have been inconsistent)
Overton v Fisher (that's going to be one hell of a match)
    Watson v Jimenez
    Woods v F. Molinari
    Fowler v E. Molinari
    Mickelson v Hanson
    Z. Johnson v Harrington
    Mahan v McDowell

looking at these matchups... it's not insurmountable. Clearly, Eur have front loaded their matches hoping to finish it early. Really they have their five best players going out one after the other. The US have a rather balanced look, but that's putting a ton of pressure on Stricker and Cink, if they can somehow win those two matches it could get very interesting. If they lose them both, it's really over as the Euros only need three points out of the remaining nine. I don't see Dustin Johnson or Jim Furyk winning either of their matches.

If I had to predict the matches...
    Westwood over Stricker
    McIlroy over Cink
    Donald over Furyk
    Kaymer over D. Johnson
    Kuchar over Poulter
Fisher over Overton clinches the cup
    Jimenez over watson
    Woods over Molinari
    Fowler over Molinari
Mickelson over Hanson (really if he loses this he should withdraw from any future Ryder Cup)
    Z Johnson over Harrington
    McDowell over Mahan

    16.5 to 11.5 Euros...

I think the USA are better than that

If I had to predict the matches...
    Westwood over Stricker
    Cink over McIlroy
    Donald over Furyk
    Kaymer over D. Johnson
    Poulter over Kuchar
    Fisher over Overton
    Watson over Jimenez
    Woods over Molinari
    Fowler over Molinari
    Mickelson over Hanson
    Z Johnson over Harrington
    McDowell over Mahan

I could see the USA winning 5 out of the last 6, so i hope we can win the fist 5

Looks like the USA is going to get beat again.....this is more embarrasing then Team USA losing a basketball game in the Olympics a few years back to Italy.

Huge comeback underway.....the 3pt deficit still may be to much to overcome, but its USA 11 to EUR 13 with 4 matches still on the course....USA is up in 2 convincinly which will get them to 13....EUR is up big in 1 which will get them to 14.....then the big match is Mahan vs. McDowell (EUR up 2 with 5 to play).

So on paper, EUR looks to win this 15 to 13....even if Mahan works out an all square tie EUR still wins the cup at 14.5 to 13.5....but if Mahan comesback to win....USA retains the cup 14-14.

Hold the phone....Fowler just made a comeback and halved his match. 4 straight birdies to halve that puppy. woot! Would go down as the turning point of all turning points.

Now Mahan only needs to halve his match for USA to complete the comeback. However Mahan is still 1 down 3 to play.

USA 13.5 and EUR 13.5....its all down to Mahan vs. McDowell

Dang....McDowell now up 2 with 2 to play....Mahan has to now win both holes otherwise EUR wins it.

Heck of a comeback, but yesterdays matches were the difference.

???? USA won it last match. However, USA have last won in EUR in 1993 (@Belfry) I believe so that's 4 tries if that's what you mean; yes, haven't won on EUR course in years.

but USA won the 2008 Ryder Cup @ Valhalla and took it over to EUR....where they left it once again.

I'm kind of glad the USA lost. Europe has some great golfers and right now they or the best in the world.

How the hell is Tiger still the #1 in the world. He hasn't done anything in 2010.

I blame Tiger and the USA golfers who are all too soft. Phil Mickelson stinks it up in these type events. This loss would be the equivalent of the USA losing to Japan in baseball. They should feel ashamed.

Well that was an epic cup, had a blast watching 100% of it. I had today's matches on the DVR, watched half of them this morning and then the final couple of hours this evening... then watched the Dolphins embarrass themselves. :pity: I'd rather watch the Ryder Cup than the Dolphins atm... Anyway... that was a heck of an attempt by the US. So close... poor Hunter Mahan, can't help but feel for the guy. It's amazing to think how things could have been different with a different 12 man lineup in these single matches... Put Zach Johnson in the anchor up against McDowell. Put Tiger up against anyone who won today for the Euros, instead of being matched up vs their worst player, whom I think anyone on the US side could have beaten. How about that Ricky Fowler? Oh to be 21, great at golf and look like him? Kids got it made.
