A few weeks ago I planted my little garden for the summer.I wanted to try one new veggie and I picked cucumber.Man, thats the last time I do that that. Not realizing how fast they grow, and how much water they consume. It seems to be more of a chore than I thought.Anyway,I use these planters called http://www.earthbox.com/ and they are great to use,and very easy to work with. I have cucumber and basil in one,and green bell pepper, parsley and Danielle's green bean school project in the other.Everything is growing like a weed. Just wondering what you people have in your garden, and if you ever heard of(or worked with) the Earth Box.This is a great invention BTW,and makes growing plants and veggies that much easier.Esp. if you live in colder climates or have limited space. By no means do I make money off this product, just wanted to put the word out because it really works.
thats awesome i have always wanted to grow my own product and eat it.....seems so cool, like its "your own"!!! big difference from buying produce from a market imo thanks for the info bro!
It does taste alot better, bro. Even if you don't have a green thumb, you will still be able to grow your own "stuff".
Nothing like your own veggies,I grow a big garden every year because I swear we are the end of the food chain up here.
My backyard is full of fresh mint and I grow hot peppers, sweet peppers, tomatoes and corn on the cob. Nothing is better for you than fresh veggies. I give away loads and loads of mint all the time and it gets replaced almost immediately. I must have good soil, I guess.
Hot peppers and tomatoes in my yard. Cant do without either. I`d like to try cukes someday but I was told its a ton of work. Is It?
Last year I planted 150 pumpkins and I got like 10 back, what a drag!! The year before I planted 150 pumpkins and I got like 300 back,it's a tricky business.
Considering this is my 1st attempt at it.I don't think I'll do it again. The cuces need a bunch of water, because the vines are mostly water from what I can tell.I don't mind watering every other day,but I need to keep an eye on the cuces because they suck it up.
My Italian grandfather had the best tomatoes ever in his garden. It was all in the soil he always told me growing up.And he grew alot of other things also in the summer. The soil in his backyard would fall between your fingers if you grabbed itand he always had the best crop so to speak. The reason I bring this up to you is because he did this in downtown Jersey City for over 60 years. So yeh,it might have something to do with the soil up there.
Ive heard similar stories on pumpkins. The wife says the full moon has alot to do with the crop that's comes out that year.
Jersey tomatoes are awesome. Doesn't everyone know this? My wife has all kinds of stuff going in our garden. The only thing not growing well, is the Italian Parsley. Which drives me nuts because the herbs are the most important.
My carrots are coming up fast, then Basil and Hot peppers and Green peppers. Looks like it is going to be a good year this time around.
Agreed on the Jersey tomatoes.I have better luck,I guess with the parsley where I 'm at.Gotta' keep snipping it every week and giving it to the neighbors because it won't stop growing.
I did'nt mention before that I have a Habanero (sp) pepper bush.I like growing them, but don't eat them anymore. These peppers are way to hot for me to enjoy.
