I'm expecting to see those guys picked up somewhere next week. They are all vested veterans, so their salary would be guaranteed if a team picked them up on the 53 for this week. It really wouldn't surprise me if the Dolphins brought back either Grant or Douglas for depth and rotation along the line. Grove on the other hand is surely done in Miami. But some team will pick him up.
The thing is, none of those players had signed contracts worth that much other than Grove. So while the guaranteed contract may apply to him easily, I don't know if the same can be said of both Douglas and Grant. Why would the team risk losing both if they wanted to resign them that quickly? I'm not saying it won't happen, but they likely knew they'd be doing something with Grove near the same time the cuts were made; it's only been a week. Cutting Grove likely wasn't that foreign at that stage. If so, then how could we not keep one of either Douglas or Grant? Grove's savings could help cover some of their contracts. The team cut both players. They didn't hedge their bets and keep one, they cut both. I could them doing it to one defender, but both due to the first week money? They may get signed back. Their salaries weren't that extravagant to begin with really. We could have kept one on for sure and been fine. The fact we got rid of both says something. Just like anyone who may be looking for defensive line help not picking them up yet. Akin Ayodele signed with Buffalo and these guys aren't signed by anyone? Buffalo didn't even sniff them as far as I know and they need help along their defensive line due to the shift in defensive scheme. That seems a bit odd doesn't it? The patriots perhaps, they could certainly use Charles Grant's ability to rush since they nothing really up front in that department. Also surprising somewhat if all this boiled down to was a guaranteed paycheck IMO. Again, they may get picked up, but this is starting to look like it was done more on talent than money right now.

Could be - I have to admit that I flat out don't know anything about what Rose or Geathers bring to the table. I guess time will tell if they are upgrades or not. In terms of contracts, all I could find out was this: Douglas - 2 years - $2.5 million Grant - 2 years - $4.5 million Both of those are the maximum value which presumably means a back-loaded 2nd year that they would never get to see. But even if we assume the first year for both is at minimum veteran salary, they are still making roughly 2 and a half times Rose and Geathers. I'm not ready to say that its all about talent until I see it on the field.
