In amatuer wrestling parlance, a fish is someone who is too green, brand spanking new, and FLOPS AROUND like a fish, hoping not to be pinned.

    Well away from here
He'll be on the pats quick. With Ty Warren being injured, they need the help in the worst way.

Don't hit the panic button just yet. It's entirely possible we claim a TE off waivers, or we re-sign Martin after week 1, when his salary becomes non-guaranteed.

nalbone looked like he improved rather dramatically from last year. i still think he needs another year but he looks like he may be able to play. i dont expect much this year but if he can have one more year of growth he could develop into something decent

If had to predict 7 gone from this group, I'd say the only names remaining would be Moses (they seem to like him), Amaya (just a gut feeling), maybe Proctor

One starts to wonder. would you trade Grove for a guy like Olsen, straight up? Chicago could use the line help, we could use the tight end help.

If I had to guess, Grove is being dangled in a trade and will soon be gone.

    It's a win now league.

Basically, the Te position boils down to Fasano and a 5th rd pick who was not active in 2009 and he needs more time?

Maybe, or perhaps Sparano is rolling the dice with the likes of Wallace, Moore and Nalbone?

What stuns me is Haynos was a good blocking #3 Te, and his role hasn't been filled as of yet?

This would solve some special teams issues nicely, provided we don't get shanked. I'm willing to bet he gets claimed before we get a shot though.

actually i´m in a little panic mode, why not give him his money, it cant be a "fortune" after his injury, who knows if he signs with someone else before and i dont know if there is anybody out there that is proven at what david martin can do in our offense at the TE position, man i hope they know what they are doing

No offense, but I'm glad you aren't our GM. Chris Williams isn't very good, and he has no place on this team besides.

Greg Olsen would be great in a 2 TE set with Fasano, but unless we're holding out for a cheaper price, don't count on Olsen becoming a Dolphin. It would be great, and he'd be an instant success in this offense, but it's not happening.

Probably not, but A) it could happen B) the team who claims him may want a lower tier player from our roster C) because the Steelers waived him the team whom claims him may want something as simple as a conditional draft pick.

    Movement creates new opportunity.

I'd like to see Marlon Moore return kicks. Have they tried him? He seems to be the shifty, speedy type guy, with pretty large testes. Im talking kicks, not punts....

No offense taken. But the Chicago line is exceptionally poorly coached and I think a guy like Chris Williams could develop into a decent swing tackle here. Better than Murtha.

Olsen would become a dominate player here. So two first rounders for spare change.

Grove is not someone we should all be impressed with. He should have destroyed Berger in this preseason's competition and failed to really separate himself. He ain't worth the money we're paying. Yet, he played at a Pro Bowl level before the injury last year, so he has some value.

Actually, he's probably the only guy we can afford to trade with actual trade value. Camarillo used to be the other one. They just won't play backups starter money in Miami.

Grove is going somewhere, unless he can play right guard.

They have and he was unimpressive.

Logan is more of a specialist like Des Howard only he makes tackles on Special Teams as well as returns Kick offs AND punts..and he is good at doing both jobs.

Not with his first round contract and injury history.

Grove, Gardner, and a 3rd round pick is not spare change. Donald Thomas and a 6th round pick is spare change. But it doesn't matter: Gardner is on IR and Thomas has been cut. So unless the Bears are asking for peanuts, we're not getting Greg Olsen.

At the same time, Berger failed to outplay Grove. It cuts both ways. Why hand an incumbent's job to a new guy when the new guy failed to clearly earn it?

Which is why Chris Williams has no place on this team.

I'll stop speculating about specific trades and players for now, but I fail to see why we are so content about Grove. You can't criticize Berger for the same reason because he doesn't make the same paycheck. And since Grove was played really really well before the injury last year, and Berger is neck and neck, I have to believe Berger is very good.

You either start Grove at center, kick Berger to left, and shift Icognito over to right.. or trade him. As far as I know, Grove is a center or he is nothing. He doesn't offer the versatility to otherwise get on the field and he is officially injury prone.

The front office will not pay Grove the same money to be a backup, or to be a borderline starter. They did it with Camarillo, they did it with Smiley. They only exception is Pennington, and that's because he's basically a coach. I gotta believe Grove is going somewhere.

Right now, the most obvious need is tight end. I just took the best tight end presumably on the trading block (Olsen) and speculated. But that would be a good straight up trade for both teams.

Damn. Sounds good in theory, but i'd personally hate to cut Hilliard. Hilliard is pretty average I admit, but I remember how bad it was when Ronnie was hurt, and they were trying to limit R Williams carries against Buffalo. The only guy they could turn to was Hilliard.

I wouldnt mind replacing Hilliard, but only for a similar back with better physical upside. Actually i'd rather us replace Cobbs than Hilliard if we grabbed Logan. I figure i'm probably alone on that one.

Well half hour to go, it is safe to say that those last 7 players who make the roster are difficult decisions for the Staff to make as well as being expendable if someone better comes along.

Oh yeah..anyone else recall Sparano saying "roster spots 47-53 are up for grabs"?

If you view them as equal, then why do you have a preference either way? It should be irrelevant which one is out there, in that instance.

On my end, I prefer Berger as a G/C swing backup.

Grove hasn't been cut (yet), and every indication is that Grove has won the center competition. He took first team snaps in the practices leading up to the third preseason game. He stayed in that game with the other confirmed starters, like John Jerry. We were cautioned that the person starting at C in the fourth preseason game was not necessarily the guy who won the job, and lo and behold, Berger starts the 4th preseason game.

Jake Grove is your 2010 Miami Dolphins starting center.

One of Mike Berardino's sources says that Micah Johnson has made the 53 man roster.

More one-dimensional run-stoppers, yay! Karlos Dansby is the only ILB on this team who can drop into coverage.

I don't think so. A 3rd rd pick and a top 10 C in the NFL (even if he can only play 10 games/yr, and he's probably better than 10th when healthy) for a TE who might be available for only a 3rd rd pick isn't such a great trade for us.
