49ers waived TE Tony Curtis and Joe Jon Finley.

They were both replaceable parts. The Niners will move forward with Nate Byham as the blocking tight end behind Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker.

49ers waived C Cody Wallace and DL Khalif Mitchell.

It's expected that Mitchell will get a look for the practice squad. Wallace was the 107th overall pick in 2008, but may not even get claimed off waivers after practicing so poorly in San Francisco. Wallace was never even in the mix to replace Eric Heitmann when Heitmann fractured his leg in camp.

If Crayton is worth a 7th rd pick, Stefan Logan is probably worth just a waiver claim..though I'd pay a 7th rd pick for him.

Havent followed him since he came into the league. He should be able to pass the rusher. Is it the other part of his game thats missing or is his pass rushing ability also negated in the NFL

Why? Having 3 starting caliber Qb's is a good thing no need to peddle either one.

We are looking for more depth and specialized players basically, waiver wire pickups.

Joel Reinders was going to be a high pick in the CFL draft.

Well at least Brandon London has his modeling career to fall back on.

Wow..just wow..Cody Brown was highly thought of in the 09 draft, and Herm Johnson could play G or T and is a massive player.

I'd say right now the best FA waived Lb's would be Brown, Crable and Davis.

We scouted Johnson coming out of LSU in 09.

Cody Brown was never that good. His teammate at UCONN, whose name escapes me, was much better.

Beisel plays with a lot of heart but he's getting up there in age and probably only offers special teams value at this point. Even that's probably pretty iffy.

    Great human being though.

Eh, he was mediocre in 08, but does offer versatility, I'd certainly keep him on speed dial.

There were some who were high on him heading into the draft.

That cat just couldn't stay healthy.

Wonder what time Irish drops the Turk bomb tomorrow?

Been away for a while, since yesterday, not sure if this has been posted yet.....no Logan yet Pads....

Steelers wavied TE Sean McHugh, TE Eugene Bright, WR Brandon London, OG Dorian Brooks, and OT Kyle Jolly.

McHugh, an H-back type, spent last season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Steelers have moved on to David Johnson in the FB/TE role. London made some noise as a special teamer during camp, but the Steelers have much better options at receiver.

Steelers waived RB Justin Vincent, DT Scott Paxson, LS Matt Stewart, S Justin Thornton, and LB Renauld Williams.

Vincent has been a mainstay on the Steelers' practice squad the past two seasons, but he's never come close to seeing game action. Stewart's release locks in veteran Greg Warren as the long snapper.

Updating a previous report, the Pittsburgh Steelers apparently are leaning toward starting QB Charlie Batch in Week 1 and having QB Dennis Dixon come into the game for certain packages, reports Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Ck really liked him coming out, the Bears are notoriously inconsistent when it comes to the draft, the fact that Gilbert didn't make it in Chicago could be for a number of reasons.

Long season ahead for the Bears.

Those two are utter imbeciles but now they are out of Shanahan' talent to trade away..

Well, without Burgess, the pastriots have no stand alone passrushers, Banta Cain is more of a savvy pass rusher who can be neutralized rather easily.
