Good for him. He'll get his chance in washington. Keep in mind he had like 3 days of practice in a new system before his first game, or something. I want to see him succeed. Good luck to him.
Im not hatin'. I like Beck, he just cant get his ball across the defensive line 80% of the time. Everyone has a few knocked down here and there....
I totally agree, the guy was never given a proper chance here or in Balt., I wish him well. To finally be where someone shows him that they want him is all he needs imho. As for those of you who keep knocking him down for what happened in 2007, sorry but I just don't understand the hate, whatever did he do to deserve that? I thought we had more class here. JM2C.
Why do you just give Beck the benefit of the doubt and turn around and give Henne the "show me" treatment? Not that I disagree, Beck was in a horrible situation. But the dude has serious issues with ball security.
Agree with not being given a chance..in Miami, in Baltimore Beck probably got exactly what he needed under Cam Cameron, time to absorb the differences between BYU's Spread offense and a NFL offense over the last two years. I suspect we will begin to see a pattern of "they can play in the NFL, but not in Miami" emerge, Pat White will be the next Qb who goes somewhere else and sits for a while and absorbs and learns. BTW, Quietly the Redskins have went from an abysmal Qb situation to one of the deeper Qb units in the NFL with Grossman and Beck as the #2 and #3. My only surprise is how long it has lasted, Beck was cut in 2008, give it a rest. Though I must own up to enjoying making allusions to that dislike..
I wished him well and have moved on. I want Henne to suceed so I push him. If John were still here I would be doing the same to him. No where in any of my post will you find hate for either guy as I hope both suceed, for different reasons. If I didn't care about Chad Henne you wouldn't hear one peep outta me. When someone ask how I feel about someone I like to think I tell the truth about what I see. I'm sorry if that hurts a homer's feelings but it in NO WAY detracts from the fact that I hope Chad Henne becomes the best he can be and I get to enjoy watching his thrilling play just as I did watching Dan Marino play this game I love. I love the Miami Dolphins but I will not wear Rose Colored glasses just to please some on this board. Like wise I will not point to someone's mistakes once they've left this team, I will only wish them well and hope they do better where they are now. I derive no pleasure by saying something negative about someone on another team just to say it. Thus I wish Beck, Taylor, Ginn, and many others well once they leave. If Henne were not to pan out I would treat him the very same way. At this point in time he is MY QB and I want him to be the very best he can be. That will not be accomplished by sugar coating his proformance, sorry but thats how I see it.
I wish the guy well but I don't understand and have never understood the notion that he "didn't get a chance" here. You don't get 5 years to learn the position as a 2nd rounder, there are reasonable expectations related to where you are drafted that are fair IMO. Like Ginn, he was over drafted and fan/team expectations were fair compared to where he was drafted. Beck got his fair share of chances here did absolutely nothing and fairly got sent packing. Seems like a decent guy, hopefully he can be a legit backup to McNabb but he was drafted to be a starter here and never got it done, no regrets, he doesn't belong here.
Wow - we rail on him so bad around here I forgot how little he really played. 5 games played, 4 started. One TD, 3 INTs and about a 56% completion percentage on a 1-15 team. Not trying to say he would have been great or even good - just amazed at a high 2nd round QB dumped after 4 games in his rookie season.
Thought this was interesting - John Beck 2007 QBRAT - 62.0 Mark Sanchez 2009 QBRAT - 63.0 How is Sanchez the next big thing? Not saying Henne should have that title but look at Aaron Rogers and Kevin Kolb. Hell, if you need a rookie - Mathew Stafford. He didn't have the #1 ranked D and #1 ranked running game to prop him up and put up almost identical numbers.
Stafford might be the most underrated 1st overall QB ever (then again he's a 61 QB rating and plays for the lions).
