So now you know what he's thinking?

He caught the ball, and yea he probably could have gotten an extra 3 or 4 yards, but there is no way he could have taken it to the house. And I don't see how you can say anything about him going out of bounds.

What he's thinking is evident from his body language. He had no interest in trying to turn it up field or get any yards after the catch. His plan consisted 100% of getting the ball. That's it. And that's all Ted Ginn ever thinks about. He never has a plan at the top of his route for getting yards after the catch.

Again, I don't see how he could have gotten any major yardage after that catch. He could have turned up field and maybe ran an extra 3 or 4 yards, but he would have been pushed out of bounds.

I doubt it. If Ginn had been a better WR I'm sure he'd still be here and his blocking would be considered good enough.

you could be right but throwing a fade route to ted ginn is an exercise in futility. he's a receiver that needs to work in space. him running across the fron t or back of the end zone is a much bettter call for his sklllset than having him outjump and fight for a ball. the one reason i'm not sure about who was right on that is nate davis was ripped a new one by mike singletary after the game

“I feel he has to get on the same page and really put himself in a position to compete,” Singletary said. “I think right now he's competing against himself. I really like the kid. There's a lot to like about him, but there's a work ethic that you have in terms of being a quarterback in the NFL and you've got to get it. It's as simple as that. I'm pulling for him. I'm hoping, but so far he's inconsistent.”

Singletary was really going to town now, giving vent to his inner Nate Davis frustration. And then came the killer. I asked Singletary to define what he meant by Davis' work ethic or lack thereof.

“I will be more than happy to explain it,” he said like a lawyer beginning his summation to the jury. “Right now, Nate Davis is working his tail off to try and learn this system. But in the offseason, that's when you take the time to get that done, and I'm not sure how hard he worked this offseason getting that done.

“So when I talk about work ethic you just can't turn it on and turn it off and now to come to training camp, ‘Coach I'm really trying. I'm really trying.' You know what? The offseason when we were in OTAs, the minicamps and all those things that's when you have to get that done. And that's when you have to stay up and drive the coaches crazy and look at film and ask all the questions you possibly can, and I'm not sure he did that. So right now, it's a lot he has to get in a short amount of time. Hopefully, he can do that. I don't know. We'll see.”

I was just watching highlights of the 49ers and Raiders pre season game, and I saw something that made me think of this thread. Frank Gore hit an open hole and was racing towards the end zone with a couple of Raiders chasing him and Ted Ginn Jr behind him. One of the Raiders was Matt Shaughnessy, 6-5 270, and Ted Ginn Jr actually threw a very good block against him. He launched his body into him and knocked him to the ground. The funny part is, that was a stupid play by Ted Ginn. Matt had no chance of catching Gore. What Ginn should have done was continue to run and block the safety, Tyvon Branch.

Vintage Ginn. I've actually seen Ted throw some tremendous blocks in Miami. Which makes it all the more hilarious that one limp d-ck block he had in the Vikings game gets referred to as a "key block".

Ted Ginn's biggest problem will always remain a lack of concentration and brain power on the field. That's what it boils down to. That will make him one of the most inconsistent and frustrating players you've ever seen. Total inability to run after the catch, and soft hands (in the bad way) are two traits he has going consistently. But otherwise it always comes down to he does a bunch of things wrong for every thing he does right. When he goes a step forward it's because he took two steps forward and one backward. When he goes a step backward it's because he took a step forward but took two steps backward.

He'll keep shooting himself in the foot until teams eventually get tired of it but in the mean time you can't coach the kind of athleticism he has and it does help create big plays like that 60 yard play.

BTW, Mike Singletary sure doesn't sugar coat anything. You love that if you're the media. I'm not necessarily convinced it's the best thing from a football standpoint to always be airing your players' dirty laundry like that.

Are you done? I swear you're talking to yourself half the time about a player that isn't even on our team anymore...

I click on this thread wondering why a game thread from a week ago has a post from today... now I know why. People are going to believe what they want and there's always something that one can find to complain about. I think that's how 80% of Miami fans are with Ted Ginn. No matter what he does, they'll find something to nit-pick on.

I seriously think that he could donate his salary to a charity and you guys would still complain on how he didn't do it right.
