Additionally: No sign of Haynos or Feinga or Crowder, and the Jest also waived Rod Wright, if we have an injury bug later in the yr, Wright could be on speed dial. Some people don't like Charlie Anderson, for me I like his game, working him at ILB will only add to his flexibility. Will, Sam, DE, ILB, ST He had good range can can on occasion get to the Qb, what is not to like about his skillset?
Haynos and Crowder are both hurt, so not being seen isn't a big deal. Why in the world would we want Coles?
I'm a big Charlie Anderson fan. Have been since day 1. He is a solid pass rusher, good run stopper and is decent in coverage. He has a knack for making big plays in limited action. I can't wait to see what he does now that he's going to be given a lot more snaps.
Sparano said he was concerned with the lack of sacks, maybe this is way of seeing if they get more pressure?
he probably gets a bump this week because he will play more in game 4 thats at least what i would hope
Imho they watched the CJ Spiller film and they are trying to distinguish who will set the edge better for week #1, Misi or Ike, or maybe getting Ike more work at doing so as he could rotate into the game as a run stopping SOLB. Nolan used waves of Linebackers in Denver.
Interesting about Pat Turner, last yr by this time he was not really mentioned very often, perhaps Roberto Wallace has inspired him to play better?
-Good to see Turner is keeping it up. -No kidding OmarK -Double infinity "wow" on the Bengals cutting Antonio Bryant, he basically just walked away with 7 million dollars from a notoriously cheap organization. Several people like him as a FA, but I'd guess that knee just will not heal properly..it also means Matt Jones has a good chance of sticking in Cinci.
he is out there, thats a very good sign, i was worried he would also be banged up, but apparently not bad enough not to be out there, he seems like a tough guy
enough said, Smith is not a starter in the NFL he will get picked this year alot. Turner beating him, he runs about as good of a route as daffy duck
A Team needs a Charlie Anderson, a borderline starting Lb who can do many jobs, that said I suspect he is on the fringe of the bubble depending on what they think about Dobbin's role.
I agree. IMO Anderson is a passable starter. I don't think he's a great starter, but he's good enough that I wouldn't have worried if he had been our starter going in with Wake as just the designated pass rush specialist. Obviously we're better off with Wake developing into a starter (IMO he has star potential) and with Anderson as the reserve, though. Once we added Dansby, the only starting LB position I was worried about was the SOLB.
Micah Johnson has clearly out played Spitler and Folsom, the real question is if he just a preseason fill in ILB or if they see more to him.
The situation in the secondary worries me. Vontae Davis is the real deal, kid is going to be a star. Yeremiah Bell is consistently good as well. However, the other half of the secondary is shaky with Smith and Clemons. Jason Allen seems to have gotten a bit better but I still don't trust him and Benny Sapp is an unknown. The loss of Will Allen is a big blow to the secondary. Bigger than some people realize. Others have got to step up in his absence. That and the pass rush are my only two concerns as we sit here 2 weeks until Opening Day. Despite some shakiness we've seen the offense click on all levels so we'll be fine there, and our run defense looks really good. It's the pass defense that starts with the pass rush and ends with the secondary play that worries me.
Gotta love Vontae's moxy...He owns Marshall LOL...That's got to be some Oscar winning smack talk goin' on.
I don't know about Matt Jones sticking. They've got Chad, TO, Jordan Shipley, Andre Caldwell, Quan Cosby, and guys like Jerome Simpson and Dezmon Briscoe still around. I was actually at their game against Philly and didn't notice much from Jones. I will say this however, Jermaine Gresham is going to be a serious weapon for them.
Pacman Jones won the Returner job in Cinci, that means Cosby is on the bubble, and Jones produced for the Bengals unlike Caldwell or Briscoe.. Interesting that they went with a Db as their kick returner, that is a really strong trend in the NFL this yr, I suspect it provides more roster flexibility. As for the Bengals, have to wonder what they will do with Chase Coffman.
i gotta agree with Ronin padre, there is no way matt jones makes that club. i said in a different thread that Cincy is one of the clubs we will be looking at WRs potentially off of the waiver wire. they are loaded at that position. I would bring in Antonio Bryant just to see medically how his knee is. It may be a situation like Will Allen where he simply needs another few weeks of rest. I wouldnt mind stashing him if we could get him to play by week 3. If Cosby is let go, a big if, he's another one I would seriously consider picking up
Pass on Cosby Adamp, as for Jones, Caldwell or Simpson have not done a thing in Cinci very much like our boy Pat Turner, even last yr when they were dying for a playmaking burner Wr neither one showed a thing.
Beg to differ on Caldwell - he essentially saved 2 games for them last year as a rookie. He's their Camarillo in training. Cosby might still carry some value for them as a PR. I'm not sure if Adam Jones will hold both duties.
Caldwell did some nice things last season. I was surprised to see a UF receiver do something in the NFL for once.
And Gronkowski is gonna be a serious player for NE. I wanted Misi, but at the same time I hated not hearing Gronk's name called by us.
Oh boy, Vern C has a consecutive game streak working, but he is not exactly a ballarina as it is, taking even more mobility off of his game is a recipe for disaster. And of course, Garner rebreaks his foot, and Gardner plays like monkey poo smells in the preseason..leaving us down to 1 Tackle.. Lydon Murtha.
Hah! The same Gronkowski that missed a whole year due to a back injury? Why do you suppose they resigned DMart?
Considering the work he got in Friday with the first 2 units, I think the staff is seeing more to him than a pre-season fill-in, as may other teams that have been doing their pre-season scouting. Miami could very well feel more comfortable trying to get Spitler and/or Folsom through waivers and onto the practice squad than they may Johnson at this point.
as a bandaid. yes, the same Gronk who missed a year due to injury. His back's fine.... and we Phins will be feeling his affects for the next 10 years. I respectfully disagree. Gronk is an every down TE.... and he's a massive target. IMO Hernandez will act as his compliment.
