http://www.miamidolphins.com/news/dobbins-could-be-steal-draft-day-trade-other-notes I thought dobbins played very well Saturday vs. the Jags. I am no longer proclaiming he will start in place of Crowder since I was obviously wrong, but I feel really good having Dobbins backing up Crowder, plus he should push Crowder to play a little better to protect Crowder's starting spot.
I was wrong too, but in my defense, it was more of a hope than a prediction . The only drop off I noticed was that Dobbins doesn't run harmlessly past the play or into the wrong hole nearly as much as Crowder. He doesn't talk as much or do the rapid fire head shake after every tackle either. I have a feeling we won't have to rush Crowder back from this year's injury the way we did in 08 and 09.
The Steal of draft day with 2 tackles?....not Victor Cruz who torched the Jets?(even tho i think we was undrafted) Hmm Im not buying this one.
Man Hartline, Bess, Carpenter and possibly Dobbins. It's finally awesome to have a FO who gets solid players in the mid rounds. Great to hear about Dobbins, i didn't know much about his TC or play in Preseason.
Probably his time on the stationary bike had some to do with him not challenging Crowder for the starting spot as well, but either way, I'd say we win.... Crowder continues his up and down play, but right now, he's up. Dobbins will be sitting there waiting for him to cycle down to the lower end of the spectrum, as he always does... That said, I think Nolan will have several packages where Dobbins is in there, down and distance stuff. Dobbins is certainly better in pass coverage. At any rate, it's good for the team...right now...
Dobbins was a guy I thought we might go after as a RFA: http://forums.thephins.com/showpost.php?p=1041197&postcount=72 I also thought he would have a good chance at beating out Crowder. Thats not happening, but I'm also not sure that Crowder's level of play hasnt been raised just from Dobbins' presence.
