It takes 400 repetitions to imprint a movement into short term muscle memory, around 1,000 before it becomes instinctual.
Saturday night is the tribe meeting to vote players off of Sparano Island and I'd suspect that cluster of UDFA Wr's are on the chopping block. Sort of, if they want to keep those guys for the practice squad, some of them may not play very much so other teams do not poach them.
Remember though that every play isn't the same so the movements they are actually doing will vary and not yet instinctual for Clemons. Bell is a polished safety with lots of NFL game time experience, but Clemons needs as many reps as possible with the first team. And mental mistakes don't really mean much. I mean, that missed tackle against Johnson against T Bay wasn't a mental mistake, but still a missed play. Clemons has to step up with a few pass deflections, a pick, something. How many reps did he get against Tampa? I'd like to see him stay out there for at least the entire first half against JAX.
Well, as for that comment about the Starting Center, I agree with it, but does it also mean there is no chance Berger slides over into the Starting G competition and Grove stays at Center?
Well..the one thing about C Clemons is, he does not play "fast" and does take bad angles and is not very physical, imho he has to SHOW more than he has to be the starting FS because right now, he doesn't do anything particularly well. He has no dominant talent so to speak.
That is rare for Sparano, typically he alludes to players he doesn't mention them by name, that should be a wake up call for those 4 guys. And I notice J Pruitt and RGM did make that list.
yeah this is telling....fringe equals.....Fienga, Wallace, Moore, Ness, Amaya, Davis, Grice-Mullen, Ivey, Pruitt, Stanley....etc...just to name a few....
I take it as he probably wants Grove, but the boob cant stay healthy, he wants him to show Spar he is okay to play....
Which should make for a great game..I may even put Charles Grant on that list FY, he either performs, or the waive him now to give him a chance to catch on somewhere else. So are "we" out here in Dolfan land..
Sparano has been calling out Carroll by name for a few weeks now. During his Sirius NFL Radio interview with Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan, he mentioned Carroll by name as a young guy he wanted to see more of. In the same interview he talked about his "three" QB's in Pennington, Henne and Thigpen and the merits of each. He then remembered that Pat White was on this team too and said, "oh, and Pat White too." Not a good sign for our second rounder from last year.
right Pads because game 3 is where you want your starters in there, the ones you envision for Week 1.....IDK about Grant though, this staff loves depth in the front 7...I guess the question is....Do you see them shorting one positions FTE, to carry more depth at another?? As far as a possible OL rotation in game, I think Tony's statements are putting that to bed....he wants to roll one OL....all the time..
I dont see how he sticks around Sam....people here now can run the WC better than him anyway.....unless they trade Thigpen in the next few weeks, it might be curtains for the youngster...
That is where Garner being kept on the active list hurts Grant FY, that is one "dead air" roster spot, and Grant has to show something as a 3-4 DE which is new to him..and he has to perform well. Personally I see him more as a nickel rush guy than a 3-4 DE. Is he just not seeing the talent he wants to see out of those guys? Or is it technical issues?
ArmandoSalguero #Dolphins coach Tony Sparano says there have been 945 reps between Bell and Clemons this camp with four mental errors. One of the most incredible things about our '72 Dolphins was that they made maybe four defensive mental errors throughout the whole season.
Alright, now put yourself into RGM/Moore/Wallace/Pruitt/Nalbone's shoes. Pat White is your Qb, you have to make an impression to just remain a candidate to be hired in Mid September..and your Qb has looked poor in camp..his competition, Tyler Thigpen has 15 NFL starts..which Qb do you hope/pray/plead to play with..Thiggy or White? A couple of those bubble guys could be wide open only to see White sail a pass over their heads..
Also, couldn't Garner be put on the PUP list and be activated after week 6? If he is going to be out for eight weeks, wouldn't that be fairly close to that time frame regardless? He may need/want the extra week or two to make sure he is 100% ready?
right right forgot about that new tidbit of info...... As well the quagmire at the guard and center spots is concrete, and IMO hinges on Grove....if he can go, then you can slide the others over to guard and figure it out, if he cant go do you cut him if he is going to play say 8-10 games this year, not including the playoffs if they make it??..... Also if you think about it, the ones fighting for these OL positions are more or less the on the same talent level...okay some can do better than others in certain technical aspects, but are lacking in other areas, where other guys are vice versa....It is clear that what he is forseeing what he wants his OL to be isnt being met...I truly believe Tony is a repetition guy, and wants this OL set yesterday, so he can max rep these guys and he hasnt found it yet.....somebody needs to step up
Won't matter as they are also playing against the opponent's "C" squad. A Wr has to make plays DDupree, fair or unfair. As for Jake Grove, there are no 7 million dollar per yr backup centers. Especially when there are no salary cap ramifications.
It does matter. If he's playing poor against the third string, he's not going to be on the roster. If he does well, you consider giving him reps against the twos.
If you happened to catch the Giants v Jets MNF game, one saw Ricky Santos making all manner of plays, that is what a UDFA HAS to do in order to just make it past the first cut downs as they are not on the scholarship of being a high draft pick, and no one inside the organization has a single invested into them. They have to sing for their supper...everyday.
"does well" means making plays, and we are sorta past the point of "working against the twos" Training Camp ends on Tuesday, if they were not already working against the twos, with 3 practices and 1 preseason game left before cut down day, chances are good they had better shine in that preseason game or they will not make it. The sole caveat being "if" they want to stash them on the practice squad, you do not let them shine during the preseason as another GM will poach them. The Scout who used to run "moving the chains" said in Baltimore, if they liked a player and planned putting them on the practice squad, they would not even put them into preseason games.
You sound like my old Kung Fu master. I wouldn't cry about that. The offense didn't look good the first preseason game. Sparano needs to pick 5 and let them gel.
So if a receiver is making all of the catches in practice and then during the game they are making all of the plays, yet the quarterback can't get them the ball, they are going to be cut for sure?
I was going to say..... what Pads just because he isn't from the CFL you don't remember his name???!!!
The last couple of practices will be walk throughs, so if a guy hasn't made an impression as of yet... That is a surprise, I hope Jake Grove is renting. Which means Q Moses is in deep deep kimchi. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/ Place your bets for the starting Guards...I'm going with Jerry and Incognito with Thomas as the swing Guard. I like Odrick, but I'd have preferred Marques Douglas as the starter and Odrick in heavy rotation, especially when we play the Bills in wk #1..I can see the draws and shovel passes hitting that side of the defense from here.
I'm not a machine. <syntax error at SQL line 3> And I'd like to point out, whomever is starting at this evening's practice is more than likely "our" starters this season.
Yeah, but they could still put him (Garner) on the reserve PUP list and only miss six weeks according to this article on Welker. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...-patriots-active-pup-list-but-hes-progressing
I totally am at a loss, I dont know even who to pick....I like Jerry, not Incog so much...I said it yesterday and again today....I cant believe Grove hasnt won this thing hands down yet... oh and I would like to be in some deep kimchi right now....kimchi is good..
No surprise, Grice's hamstring sank his chances, you cannot make the club from the tub, and it also means they have more or less settled on the Returners.
No surprise, imho they see Carroll as a player who can wear a couple of different hats, Cb/Nickel Cb/ST/Returner.
