Smith spoke highly of DefCord Mike Nolan with "he is a real confident guy, confident in his scheme, last yr it was when it doubt, press coverage!'

Odrick is on now with a nickname of "J".

    Odie..

Odie talking about playing the whole man and the differences between hand usage and blitz responsibilities.

He also said he and his PSU teammates got the wrong idea from watching Hard Knocks Dallas when Phillips said "this will be camp marshmellow".

He said he was excited to leave PSU and Paterno's Camp only to land in Miami and it was the same thing as at Penn State..:D

Sparano mentioned Proctor and Incognito already knowing what to do.

And Sparano feels the Wr corps is one of the deepest units and the #2 Wr slot is up for grabs..

I don't know about that comparison. Harrison makes plays in so many different ways.

Interesting, Wake will be paired with Odrick, that is a high risk high reward Right Side of the Defense.

I wonder if Douglas would be a better fit if Wake starts?

Talking about our front 3 getting 15 sacks, and using twists and stunts and inside blitzes because that plays to our strengths and Nolan will recognize it.

To me, EXACTLY, and that is why Grant is in camp, I sorta expect to see all manner of Dline games with Nolan as imho that is our most talented area of the defense.

A lot of stunts with Nolan last year. There will be a lot of movement up front in general.

I think Kirwin doubts we wind up with 20 sacks from our 2 OLB's.

Not so sure about that, but much of that depends on Koa Misi as imho Wake is good for 10 sacks or more, and a boatload of pressures.

We'll see, at worst he was a mentoring Camp Body, at best he feeds off of the youth on the Dline and Nolan's scheme.

Our 4 man Dline will be beastish, to many talented Dlinemen not to be.

Makes me think we'll see more FTP technique and even some Pattern Reading. Keep an eye out for the Pattern Reading on Saturday IMO.

He keeps pointing out his range and now he's talked about the hitting ability. Clemons is going to sit pretty far back (that 2 level deep safety I talked about before) and he's going to have a chance to make plays on the ball and level wide receivers IMO.

Not too high risk IMO. Odrick is stout, he plays the run well and has a great motor. He's also strong and has quality hand use IMO.

Play recognition Alen, Cam is vulnerable to handoffs and screens, Odrick will be as well as he lacks experience, Douglas has no such weakness.

Especially playing the Bills and their poor Qb's but strong Rb's, screens and draws and shovel passes are all wide open with Wake/Odie on the right side.

Odrick reads the game well. I'm not too concerned about him. There are some issues but I think he'll be ok.

Cameron Wake is no different than Elvis Dumervil last year. Pin the ears back and get after the quarterback.

We shall see Alen, Gailey is no dummy, and he has some nice weapons at rb in Jackson and Spiller and Lynch.

Sometimes (imho) you need a stay at home DE who can smell things out.

Praising Pennington a bit, said they saw him throw a ball 47 yds in the air, and he can step into the offense in a heartbeat and does not need reps to show what he can do, that allows Sparano to see what Thiggy and White have to offer.

Talking about the Dline depth with Soliai and Douglas and Charles Grant.

Step back and look, that is a starting caliber NFL Dline..and they are our backups.

Sean Smith lined up that way a few times, from what I recall. Denver did quite a bit of it, particularly Champ Bailey.

Yeah, I really like it. I think it puts them in position to use their natural abilities very well. You can close on the ball on both the outside and inside routes and then you're 3-5 yards back so you can defend the fade as well as in position to flip the hips and defend down field. I think this will benefit Vontae Davis a lot. I think Sean Smith will adjust to it a little slower but I think his length will give fits to receivers.

If you combine that with Pattern Reading, it gets really interesting IMO. Sean Smith points out using your eyes and IMO that's a major aspect of pattern reading. You can take away two routes simultaneously, one with your eyes and another one with the rest of your body. Plus all of this makes it easier to disguise coverages, which I think is important.

Long talking about Odrick, they reminded him that Odie said:

"He was good, but once he put the pads on he got really good.."

Scooping is occupying multiple offensive lineman at once. Think about 2 gapping.

Marques is speaking on schooling Odie.

"..he has all of the tools and once he learns how to recognize how things the defense does will be blocked he will be a great pro.."

Marques also mentioned that in NY, Rexxy had him learn both RDE and LDE.

That is some amazing flexibility on the Dline as Grant has played both sides and several different techniques as well.

Talking now about Vern Gholston taking his spot in NY..:D
