Well the bullpen is giving us a chance. Would be nice for them to shut down that Nats for a few more and we'll see if we cant pull this one out.
They almost pulled it off. I'm really disappointed that McCann swung at that first pitch like that. I would have expected more patience out of him. As the announcer said, if Chipper would have got that hit on a 3-2 count instead of 3-1, Escobar makes it home and who knows what happens. It was just time for the Nats to finally pull one off I guess. I never stop being amazed at how good Chipper is in the clutch. There's a lot of talent in that lineup but there's no question that you want Chipper up there when the game's on the line. Nobody else even comes that close.
You're right about Chipper, he's the best hitter in the NL right now IMO. But how about Escobar? The guy is becoming a Star in front of our eyes. The patience he showed in that 9th inning at-bat impressed me more that the hits he got. You know, Mac was like 0-8 off Rauch up to that point. I think he figured the 1st pitch was the best he was gonna see and he took a chance. He hit it hard, but Kearns was right there. That Nats had great defensive positioning ALL game (Damn you Pat Corales!) As for Glavine, the Braves have listed him as Day-to-Day with a sore hamstring. His next scheduled start (ironically) would be at home vs. Washington.
That Nats defense did seem to be everywhere. I remember Kelly Johnson hitting a liner into what is supposed to be the gap. But when they cut to the outfield shot Kearns was right there waiting for it.
It's been obvious since last season that Escobar is going to be a star. Renteria leaving was a done deal shortly after he was called up and it was obvious how talented he was. It was obvious the outfielders were playing deep, I still think he should have waited for a couple of pitches.
Well, 6 out of 7 losses by 1 run. Thats frustrating, but at least we're competitive in every game right now. I still dont think the bats have completely gotten hot yet. I cant wait to see a stretch this team has when all the bats are going.
Back on the horse tonight Fellas, Jurrjens vs. Olsen in FLA. I'll be at the game tomorrow night to see Hudson mow em down. (Infield Box Seats )
Man its hard to find good relievers. Hopefully those guys out in the pen that I don't know will step up.
This is not looking good. They can't score a single run? Is Olsen really that good? Maybe it's good that I'm working and missing some of these games. Moylan is on the disabled list? What a horrible start to this season. If they fall apart Bobby will probably retire afterwards too. I don't need this crap after having to deal with the Dolphins and their 1-15 record.
Olsen has pitched well to start this year. Probably woke up and realized he has some decent stuff when he's not fighting with Cops and getting tazered...
Went to the game tonight, how dissapointing. Once again Bobby brings the infield in early in the game and it burns us for a big inning. Escobar is a super-star, Tex is pissing me off... tough year for my sports teams so far...
Escobar does seem to be a damn good player. Tex is pissing me off too (got him on my fantasy team). The middle relief was encouraging.
Campillo has been a bright spot these last few games. Wouldnt mind seeing him get a chance in the 5th rotation spot if Mr. Glass doesnt come off the DL.
Well, we are fans of the Dolphins. I'm beginning to think we all did something to piss of the sports gods.
O looks pretty good so far. Smoltz is DEALING but it looks like the shoulder is botheirng him, need to give him and the BP a few more runs of support.
Yes, and good thing for us Lucky lives in El Paso, God only knows what he did to those poor chickens...
There are other team threads on ThePhins.com, but none have the balls to **** a chicken to halt a losing streak...bunch a posers
Wow looks like I missed a lot. If this is what Lucky's chicken sacrifice brings then keep up the good work. On a serious note, I can't believe there are people who actually think John Smoltz won't make the hall of fame. He's better with a sore shoulder than most pitchers 10 years younger with a perfectly good one. I really wish I would have recorded this game. I missed it.
