solid good for him....product of Nolan, and the scheme.....glad they spent there money on him, and not Brandon!!
Dumervil is hardly a product of the scheme IMO. He's got some real talent (great bulrush) and other than 08, he's been a solid contributor to that team. They got a good deal too IMO.
Oh sure he is an excellent talent, no doubt, and is arguably the best LB in the game, I dont disagree at all; but there is no doubt the scheme had alot to do with it as well. Something I hope works for Miami's defense too..18/9, 39/12, 24/5 tackles/sacks a year respectfully is decent, but then he breaks out with 48/17 last year once he started to show he was the man, and Nolan started putting him all over the field.....it was a mix of both.....now if he duplicates or betters it this year, hey I will totally tell you it was all him...
Yes, scheme had something to do with it. It always does but I don't think he's a product of it. He's been in both base schemes and been successful. He's a legitimate talent IMO.
right right....I mispoke, I mean his numbers last year, they put him in different areas on the field, mixed it up, as that wsnt the case in previous years....so yes it (his numbers) was techinically a product of those opportunties....that and the fact that he is a absolute talent as well, more so than any one scheme....It will be interesting to see what he does this year, he will be getting doubles like he did for the most of the year last year as well.... I'd still rather have Brandon though hahahah!!
Gotcha. Regarding next year, he will surely drop off quite a bit. History doesn't lie and history says that pass rushers that have had 17 or more sacks in a season average about 6.5 sacks the following season.
Yeah I certainly dont see him getting 17, but you never know....I see 10+....you got to think, kid is young, strong, just entering his prime, he already knows how to handle, doubles and sometimes triples, depending on what angle....u know? I would kind of shocked if he didnt get 10... dude what about Wake, could Nolan devise something marvelous to get this guy going?? I mean yeah he cant play the run, however Dumy while he can play it okay, isnt the run stopper....it is a similar situation...
Yeah I know what you mean, makes sense, but I'm just saying history isn't in his favor. Remember Joey Porter after he hit 17 sacks? He had nine but 4.5 came against Carolina and Buffalo, two OL's that were a bit leaky last season. I think Nolan can get Wake going. Wake just needs to add to his pass rush repertoire. He's got to get a consistent inside move IMO.
agreed.....he showed flashes of it last year, but it was a deke outside speed rush to the inside.....I would love to see a power inside move...Who is teaching technique?? whos the line guy??
