Well, now that it has sunk in, Big Fergie has hung up his helmet, anyone have any guesses as to "who" will take his roster spot for Training Camp? To me, another NT is not in the cards, not with Soliai, Baker and Ivey behind Starks, we already have 8 guards, Running Back would seem unlikely as well. Cb? Eh, don't think so, ditto Wr, (where we have several interesting prospects from Pruitt to RGM), Qb makes no sense either. That leaves two obvious positions in my mind at least: -Te..Sperry/Nalbone are lukewarm prospects. -OLB-a Vet would make the most sense imho. -FS-a possibility, though I suspect they want to see what Amaya can do -KR-only if they were at a bargain price, a pity the Bills haven't released Roscoe Parrish as of yet. Two intriguing names, imho, would be TO and Adalius Thomas, maybe Keith Davis.
I can in no way see TO coming here after Parcells put up with him in Dallas. Adalius Thomas? maybe, but what would he cost $ wise? I think Keith Bulluck is still a FA? I believe they will wait and see what happens come training camp, it maybe a DE because Merling will likely be suspended, so might as well get one in camp.
Sperry or Sheets would be my choice, want to see what either can do returning kicks & punts. Don't want another year of Bess back there, love him @ WR/slot, hate him as a punt returner.
Bulluck is coming off an ACL and is 32 or 33, Thomas is a similar age, but never had knee issues in his career, he did break his leg in the early 00's, but his legs have stayed remarkably healthy. As for TO..depends, Ross has to know the Heat will grab headlines for quite some time, he may see if they can make another Splash with TO. Granted, not likely, however I've learned that in the NFL "No" often means "Yes, for the right price".
Supplemental draft pick Marvin Austin after he gets UNC put on probation and kicked out of the freakin state...........................................
I think with the Supplemental Draft already done, if Austin does get the boot, he's just screwed until next year. Great prospect, too.
Sheets, RGM, Sperry/Nalbone, Amaya...I could see RGM supplanting Turner, Sperry or Nalbone making it straightaway, Amaya being put on the practice squad and if you've got a luxury spot on the roster, why not give it to the luxury back (pleeeeez!)?
My bad, Omark informed me via twitter that the dolphins are still over the 80 man limit heading into TC, so if anything there will be additional subtractions.
It will be real interesting to see who and what comes down the waiver wire after training camp starts. White is one of the biggest question marks on the team considering they still have 4 QBs on the roster.
Probably Will.I.Am My reasoning: 1) He has a pretty close relationship with Fergie. 2) He is affiliated with the team.
Hmm, tbh my eyes are just not up to counting everyone on the roster, I'd assumed that once B Johnston was released, we were down to 80 for TC, with Ferg gone, that would make 79, OMark DM'd me saying they were over the 80 man limit.
Well, I went ahead and did it. The official roster stands at 79 names. So, what does Omar know that we don't?
I'm just a dude with a premise Bro, I do think, down in my gut, that Irish and Sparano and Nolan look at our OLB corps and that is not happiness to see who we have there so I sorta expect some roster churning on the eve of TC. Merling maybe getting ejected? Keep in mind, Merlin and McD are both facing suspensions sooner or later, that would leave Dotson, Francis and Baker and Odrick to fill their roles as the roster sits.
More TO than AT, Thomas would move Q Moses out, imho that would be an upgrade, TO would up the level of competition between Hartline/Greg C and himself for the #2 Wr slot. Plus Thomas knows Nolan's scheme and can play inside or outside or DE.
i believe AT is much more likely than TO .... in fact i would go so far as to say TO has ZERO chance at being a PHIN -- UNLESS there are some hidden secrets regarding the health of Marshalls hips. as you state PAD, there is a lack of experience at OLB going into TC ... so that does go in ATs favor, i'm not a fan of Moses -- and we'll see how long Misi takes to put a strangle hold on SOLB. Wake is the forever unknown -- but will obviously be a very talented pass rushing specialist, and Anderson is a 'nice' player ... but not the guy we want at WOLB for the season; and i don't want to see Crowder at OLB - not even 1 time this year. at WR, i just don't see how TO improves the #2 .... he really isn't a deep threat, and doesn't really offer anything that Marshall doesn't already bring to the table - who is MUCH better. Hartline isn't a superstar, but i would without hesitation take him over TO. His best days are without a doubt over, and have been for at least 2 years. Lastly, Parcells or not -- we can't have 2 divas at WR in a run 1st offense .... chunk requirement aside.
