I can't even begin imagine Isaiah Thomas's pitch to LeBron might have been... "Hi, I ran the Knicks into the ground last time and you can't really ever trust me around your mom, But I really want to coach you! I can't guarantee anything other than Amar'e and maybe, maybe Raymond Felton... yes, The Raymon Felton. Also, I kinda sucked as an NBA coach too; and as a GM. But I almost got laid once on the job. With all that said, will you come to the Knicks?"
Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! God Noooooooooo I swear if the knicks bring him back Im done with them until hes gone. Useless slag.
Becomes James Dolan is a freakin putz and a half. Kevin Pritchard was the one linked to the knicks...thats the guy they better be hiring if Walsh's cancer has come back.
Pritchard is a candidate, but Isiah apparently has the inside track. Come on, Boik. Make your Florida fandom complete and defect to the Heat and Marlins. Rooting for the Marlins is kind of like rooting for the Knicks, except the pain lasts longer.
LOL, cant do it dude. Loyalty first. I dont switch teams. And rooting for the Knicks is a complete opposite from rooting for the Marlins. The Knicks spent too much money stupidly for a number of years. The Knicks sell out even when they suck. The Marlins cant get people there unless theyre a 100 win team and they spend once every 7 years. Thanks but no thanks. My Florida fandom stops at the Canes and Phins. The other florida teams Im pretty neutral on...except when the Mets are playing the marlins or the Knicks are playing the Heat.
Hell wouldnt be complete unless Eddy Curry was resigned for another 5 years and 60M, Shandon Anderson and Howard Eisley were brought in for 6 years and 40 and 42 million, Zach Randolph and Jamal Chuckford were dealt for...but hey we drafted well. And of course it wouldnt be complete unless we brought Loserbury back from China.
Rooting for the Knicks and Marlins is very similar. Both have insane/incompetent owners, both teams can't buy wins (but for different reasons), and neither has sniffed a serious playoff run in years.
Lots and lots of if it happens. Well I mean the marlins do have two championships within the last 20 years...the Knicks...nothin since 73. But Ive never seen NY as batcrap crazy as it was vs the rockets and spurs finals. 20 pages in every newspaper of knicks coverage.
Or maybe something like: "Hey after you get done playing they'll let you be GM/Coach and run the franchise into the ground for 10 years and still get paid millions. You can harass the female employees and we'll still back you up. Think about all the fun you can have after you retire."
Well Donnie aint dead yet and rumors of his demise are still premature...Knicks signed 2nd ranked international free agent Timofey Mozgov to 3yr/9.7M deal. Draft express basically calls him a bulkier version of Andris Biedrins
Boik, maybe you could clear something up for me? My impression of the Thomas Era was he had one, maybe two, surprisingly successful seasons, then he went full on nut job and massively overpaid mediocre talent, then the Knicks hit the sandbar and sank into a black pit of crappiness? I stopped closely following the NBA after the refs just began running the league. Loved the Oakley/Ewing/Mason/Starks Knick Teams, but after Phil Jackson moaned about "basketball is a game of movement and beauty" and the Defensive rules were changed, I said..well.."no thanks".
Thomas' had one year where he wasnt terrible and as a talent evaluator he wasnt bad at all. Channing frye was probably his worst pick at 8th overall. He drafted Lee, Nate Robinson, Wilson Chandler, and Trevor Ariza late in the first round and ariza in the mid 2nd but his trades were awful cap wise. Crawford he gave up no talent to acquire but his contract stunk. Curry he gave up picks and then gave him a huge contract. Zach Randolph cost not much in talent but also had a terrible contract. As far as coaching: Defense was non existent His idea of ball movement was dump down low to Eddy and Z-Bo and everyone else stand around and watch He clashed with a lot of players I've watched and lived through the Rich Kotite era for the Jets, The Dallas Green and Art Howe era's for the Mets, the Ray Handley era for the Giants, Some terrible Islander and Ranger teams and combined they weren't as hated as isiah was by Knick fans. The guy is clueless as a GM/Coach. You want to bring him back as like direct of scouting? Ok I can deal with it; I've seen much worse. But anything else....he needs to stay the heck away from my team.
That is sort of what I thought Boik, Thomas had some good points, but was really despised by Knick fans. Eddie Curry turned out to be one of those players who got their money, and lost interest, iirc he was sued by his ex limo driver for some really disgusting behavior? Funny thing is, Zach Randolph turned out to be a fine player for the Griz.
Despised would be an improvement for Isiah. I was at the Garden for a couple of games during his tenure and the crowd would constantly chant Isiah must go and much worse. Not like one section, more like the whole arena and you could see it in the players that they didnt care. They just went through the motions while he was there. Eddy was a bum from the beginning. I hoped otherwise but he is one of the players that you could tell plays because hes given the ability to not because he actually wants to. He played for a paycheck and then spent it all like a putz. And yes the limo story is the least of his problems. He's so irresponsible and dumb that he didnt even show up for a court date regarding a $197,000 payment due on draft night this year. Ultimate waste of talent which is sad because he actually could be good if he cared. Randolph plays well on offense all the time. he never played well on defense anywhere. He rebounds but does not guard his man well. Doesnt block shots at all. Offensively the guy is a black hole; the ball goes in and never comes out til he shoots. Its pretty sad too because he's always had the ability to be a top 10 player. Scary good. The guy has all the moves and understands the game, he just cares too much about the boxscore numbers and not enough about the final score numbers. Next to a guy like Marc Gasol he's not bad because Gasol covers up a lot of his defensive mistakes with weakside blocks as does Rudy Gay. Next to Eddy Curry you may as well just wave a matador towel...
yeah isiah was the most hated. ive never quite seen the hate that i saw for him and 100% deserved IMO. They got Stoudamire and if they get carmelo next year they have a chance at being relevant again
Walsh targeting Melo in 2011 and Cp3 in 2012...hopefully he can make it happen.http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wi..._knicks_will_have_cap_space_for_carmelo_paul/
Suns acquiring Hedo Turkaglou and Josh Childress...nice first move for new GM Lon Babby http://www.azcentral.com/sports/sun...uns-acquire-hedo-turkoglu-josh-childress.html
The Timberwolves are reportedly "trying to unload" Ramon Sessions and his contract -- while hoping to sign free agent PG Luke Ridnour. The Wolves signed Sessions to a four-year, $16 million contract last summer, but clearly feel Ridnour would make a better backup/mentor for their young PGs. An unnamed executive called their plans a "salary dump," and Ridnour reportedly isn't very interested in their offer. Shaun Livingston is also on the radar, as GM David Kahn's bizarre strategizing continues. Also per rotoworld: Nets signed Farmar 3yr/12M
The Jazz have taken the lead in their pursuit of trading for Al Jefferson. Sources told ESPN.com that the Jazz and Timberwolves are engaged in serious discussions on a deal that would slot Jefferson's contract into the $14 million trade exception. Minnesota wants multiple first round picks and no additional salary in exchange for Jefferson. The Dallas Mavericks were widely believed to be the most serious suitor for Jefferson in recent days, but the sides have been unable to agree on the terms of a deal. Sounds good to me offer isn't going to get any better. Sounds like the trade will be announced tomorrow as the Utah CEO said
I hope that deal goes through so Deron Williams can show people how overrated Carlos Boozer really is.
Looks like it is. Utah sends a protected 1st round from Memphis and more possibly Tomic and AK. I would rather have Kosta Koufus than AK. Edit-Never mind the player is for Ronnie Brewer.
He has his moments but hes very inconsistent. I like jack more I think, hes more of a leader and a much better defensive player. Calderon looks to be too unselfish at times which I think to a degree hurts them. When you're a Pg with the capability to score and you know your team needs a bucket occassionally you have to use that. Youre essentially a QB since you have the ball in your hands much of the time and you have to realize the pulse of the game...I think Calderon lacks that. Also, with that said, rotoworld just posted this: Bobcats owner Michael Jordan reportedly has reservations about a three-team deal that would send PF Boris Diaw and C Tyson Chandler to Toronto in exchange for PG Jose Calderon and PF Reggie Evans, while also incorporating the Suns-Raptors trade including Leandro Barbosa and Hedo Turkoglu. Jordan is reluctant to trade Chandler likely due to the mediocre corps of big men he'd have to rely upon without him, but the deal is not dead and will be revisited Tuesday. The trade sending Barbosa to Toronto in exchange for Turkoglu will proceed, however, regardless of what Jordan and the Raptors decide. Source: Yahoo! Poor BK, per rotoworld. Your GM is nuts. It will be interesting to see what Jerry Sloan can do with a tremendous talent like Jefferson. Sloan is one of the two or three best coaches in the league in my opinion and consistently gets the most out of his players. Its no coincidence that when players leave Utah they usually gets worse. Al Jefferson has been traded to the Jazz in exchange for two future first-round draft picks, although the deal won't be completed until later on Tuesday. The Jazz will use the trade exception they received from the Bulls in the Carlos Boozer sign-and-trade to sign Jefferson, which is a big coup for Utah. Meanwhile, the Wolves simply just gave away their best player in hopes of building around Kevin Love, who was disgruntled after being put on the bench for most of last season. But hey, they got Darko Milicic, so nothing else really matters. As for Utah, it sounds like Jefferson will start at center, alongside Millsap, and will move Mehmet Okur to the bench. Source: Yahoo! The Bobcats have traded big men Tyson Chandler and Alex Ajinca to the Mavericks, in exchange for Erick Dampier, Matt Carroll and Eduardo Najera. The deal should be finalized soon, so Michael Jordan won't have an opportunity to change his mind. We're assuming that Chandler, in the final year of his contract, will fill a backup PF/C role for the Mavs. Big Z close to accepting a deal with Miami Ray Allen officially resigns with Boston
